Re: Republicans: Hypothetical- If these claims about Trump's Dealing turn out to be T
I'm probably one of the most outspoken people about this being a load of crap.
With that said, if it turns out to be true, with concrete evidence, then I'll eat a big piece of humble pie.
This stupid **** about he or his people meeting with the Russian diplomat is idiotic.
That is not proof of anything.
A diplomat is supposed to meet with people who are involved in American politics, in various ways.
He's also one of the most watched people on the planet, in terms of government surveillance.
You can guarantee that the CIA, NSA and FSB are watching him round the clock, not counting that other FIS's are probably watching him to.
It would be epic level dumb to approach him with some kind of offer of collusion.
So I want to set completely aside for a moment any debate over whether or not the various claims about Trump's unsavory ties to Russia and to dirty Russian and Middle Eastern Money are true or not. There are plenty of threads debating the truth of these claims, and until an independent investigation is made none of us here really have any clue anyway.
Here is my question, mainly targeted at those who voted for Trump:
1- If these claims about Trump, his connections to Russia, the collusion between his team and Russia during the campaign, to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and to a river of dirty money funneled/laundered through real estate deals, IF those claims turn out to be true, would your opinion of Trump change and would you support him being impeached? Again, not debating here IF that is true, merely asking how you would react if it were true.
I will lay absolutely every card on the table and even say why I am asking. I am asking because, at least in my mind, a person who would still stand by Trump and be comfortable with him in the Office of the President even if all of that were true is a person who I think has fallen off the end of the pier of reason into the waters of zealotry and is not a good faith participant in these conversation. Of course I might be convinced to change my mind on that, I just don't think it's very likely.
I also have a few follow up questions, although these are secondary, if you feel like you can only respond to one, please respond to the first:
2- If the answer to question 1 is anything other than a resounding "yes!", then would you have giving the same benefit of the doubt/implicit trust had similar connections been revealed for Obama or Hillary?
3- If the answer to question 1 is anything other than a resounding "yes!", then please elaborate on what it would take for you to lose trust in the man and/or support his impeachment?
