Dan Rather Just Posted DEVASTATING Warning About Trump

1) Birth Certificate ... 8 years of that BS and still no admission of being wrong
2) Ted Cruz Father Killed Kennedy ... 1 month of that BS and still no admission of being wrong
3) President Barack Obama "ordered" the Wire-tapping of Trump Tower ... 6:45AM last Saturday Morning Tweet ... and still going.

We had a rectangle hassock I used to stand up on its end, grab two or three pieces of paper and stand next to our 13 inch black and white TV and pretend to broadcast right alongside Walter Cronkite as my parents watched the news. And of course I'd always sign off Cronkite style with "And that's the way it is, March 8, 1973" or whatever the date was.

Lying isn´t going to get my cousin a fake ID, what my cousin needs is someone who is a master in the arts of crime. Crimes such as document forgeries.

Rather didn't do that. There was a woman researcher who did that and passed it to him. She got fired. He still resigned. And life as a rightwinger is still a far lower bar.
 
Didn't Rather usher in fake news? Why in the world would I take his opinion seriously?

You know what I think? I don't think you even knew who Rather was. You just picked up on some guy who didn't like Trump. But when the reaction here showed you what kind of man Rather is, you insist on talking about Trump. After all, that's what you wanted this thread to be...a bad-mouth Trump thread.

It backfired. I know that sucks...been there...done that. Best thing you can do is let this thread die and move on.

In any case, bold and oversized fonts won't help.

The bar is at the same level for both sides. It just seems higher for the left because honesty, morals and hygiene are very high bars for the left to get over.

Get back to me when Bill O'Reilly steps down for lying about being a correspondent under fire in the Falkland war. Or that he saw nuns in central America shot in the head. Or for the violence he said he saw in Ireland I think it was. Bryan Williams claimed to have been under fire in a war zone when he wasn't once and it caused his resignation. So no... the bar is nowhere near the same. One could drag their feet and still easily make it over the right-wing bar of journalistic ethics.

This vein of conversation made me curious. So, I just looked it up. Cronkite retired from CBS in 1981. Which makes sense. I didn't begin following news until almost exactly that time frame. I guess that explains why I knew Rather so well.

I certainly remember that almost every documentary on pretty much everything i was interested in during the 80's had Walter in it. And, that checks out, since he spanned the big years: Olympic hostages, Iran hostages, JfK, VN, Korea, WW2, etc. The guy covered it all. And he was without doubt a legend.

My clearest memory of Dan Rather doing new was when Ronnie got shot. It wasn't long after that when cable kicked off, and I became a cable news junkie. I rarely watched the networks.

Why? What did he did with one incident that erases a forty year career. I have asked this several times now and nobody can offer any explanation.

THAT is what erased any credibility he had. Gone. He's irrelevant now.

First, as much as I read it, I see no grave mortal sin he committed? What am I missing?

And I ask again, why would one incident erase all the other positives in a more than forty year career?

His "mortal sin"...your words, not mine...was enough to ruin his credibility and enough to ruin his career. Sucks...but that's the way it goes.

Look. If you want to give him credibility, go ahead. Others will make up their own minds.

And why does that compel YOU to discount everything else he did in his more than forty year career because of that one incident claiming he has no credibility because of that?

Because that's how it works. Of course, the Right is hypocritical here because they rely on known liars for their news all the time. But, we are better than that. Hence, Rather and Williams are no longer credible news sources.

Lately the best source for exposing the Trump-Russia conspiracy is Rachael Maddow. She's laying it all out like a champ.
