Every American Jew I know voted against 45, given that he was, after all, the candidate endorsed by Nazis.

I also have known a number of Jews (Israeli and otherwise) critical of some of Israel's policies, and a number of people who've worked to protect persecuted Jews who are also critical of Israel's policies -- me included. It is possible to be critical of a state without hating its people. I have no idea how the hell it even makes sense to claim otherwise.

I mean, if hatred and critiquing go hand-in-hand, does that mean all you conservatives who critiqued Obama actually hate America and want to destroy it? ;)

Orthodox Jews consider that Israel should be established by the Messiah. They oppose Zionism, in part because they perceive it having a worldly, secular nature.

It's a bigger subject than I knew (they usually are!).
Far as I know, the Orthodox Jews in Israel just obey the laws of the land and don`t participate in the government, same as they do everywhere else.
That table you cited, about 10% Orthodox in Israel, I think that`s also true worldwide, about 10% of Jews being Orthodox.

Probably right. It also says it has a growth rate of about 5%.

What impressed me about these folks is that when the terrorist bombs literally blow people up, the Hasidic Jews are the ones that retrieve the shredded body parts from the walls and lamp posts surrounding the blast zone.

It never occurred to me that this was even done.

Really brings the ghastly nature of this home.

I think it's a requirement for their burial that, as far as possible, every bit of the body be recovered.
I only know this from watching a cop show on TV- a detective returned a small shred of skin from a piece of evidence to be buried.
