There is a disease running rampant through American society with symptoms very similar to the onset of a virulent form of cognitive dementia. It strikes young and old, rich and poor and makes no distinction between Republicans and Democrats. There have been no reports issued yet from the CDC but the contagion appears to have begun on American college campuses on the eve of the last presidential election. Students with snowflake personalities had to be consoled with safe spaces and hot chocolate because apparently they were demonstrating behavior similar to British children being carpet bombed by the Third Reich. It also appears to have infested certain circles of conservative ideology stuck in the quicksand of a past that no longer exists. While medical authorities have yet to chime in, the disorder is commonly referred to as Trump Derangement Syndrome.

There is much consternation and alarm among the public because the infectious agent looks to be on the rise and spreading quickly. It appears to be striking citizens with locked worldviews who lack the ability to adapt to new ways of thinking. The resulting brain disorder is likely far more dangerous than a genetically inherited malady as it appears to be a fatal consequence of long term ideological indoctrination and a failure to relate to average, everyday people.

Of late, two high profile figures are showing symptoms of this disease-Chuck Schumer, a Democrat and the senior US Senator from New York along with George Will, a Republican and a Pulitzer Prize winning columnist and conservative commentator. Schumer has been falling all over himself with absurd allegations that the Trump administration is in cahoots with the Russians and conspired with them to overthrow the Campaign of Hillary Clinton. Wild accusations in the face of bitter disappointment are classic indications of TDS and sadly, to date there is no cure. It’s a heartbreaking sight to watch Schumer spitting on a microphone and waving his arms while he utters bedridden clichés like demanding proof beyond a “shadow of a doubt” that his laughable accusations will be investigated fairly.

George Will is more toxically affected. He is on the verge of hallucinations that Trump has marched on the sacred territory of conservative politics and is in the act of defacing shrines to Ronald Reagan and Bill Buckley. Will is under delusions that Trump is a vulgarization of the chaste purity of the conservative orthodoxy that feeds the well blessing the Republican Party with superior political thinking. According to Will, Trump is poisoning the holy water. The disease of TDS has produced such an impending, plague-like sense of doom in the brain of Will that he has left the party.

It’s probably too late for victims of TDS like Schumer and Will and they could eventually end up shuffling past each other in opposite directions as they haunt the corridors of a nursing home salivating and talking to themselves. But the rest of us can take steps to protect ourselves. We can do this simply by keeping a clear head and understanding what’s going on.

A populist now sits in the White House because the people finally concluded that there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats. They are really just bookends on an embedded political establishment that has become a parasitic fixture in American politics. They both love big government and they have both abandoned the interests of average Americans. Most of us are neither Republicans nor Democrats; we are just people who want to live a dignified existence with as much freedom as possible.

When we observe that both sides are in the process of attempting to undermine the new administration we must understand that the new president is very likely onto something and that makes him a threat to the political establishment that has been the source of our misery for generations. Do not allow yourself to be infected with TDS. Your best protection is just to be aware of your surroundings and exercise basic common sense. We can get through this and we can rebuild our society to make it better for our children and grandchildren. The old political establishment has to go because it is the source of the disease.

This is going to end well

Trump Derangement Syndrome... I like that. ;)

This could be better served posted in the humor section...but it has enough basic merit to be discussed here I suppose.

I've seen this type of behavior coming over the last 30 years, starting when I went back to college for a Master's Degree after leaving the Army.

That's when I encountered the first signs of Alt (or "new" if you prefer)-Left thinking that any speech that disagrees is "hate-speech" and should be forbidden. That disagreement equates to a personal attack, and one's opponent is an evil that must be demonized and then destroyed.

I am not surprised that many of our Millennials and Generation X-er's think and act this way. But then again, I am not surprised that hack's (like Schumer, Pelosi, and dare I say it albeit sadly...John McCain) on both sides would react to anyone who tries to upset their political apple-carts.

From all signs this country is deeply divided along lines between Progressives and those I consider Classic Liberals. IMO this "TDS" is a sure sign of things to come, ala George Orwell.

TDS is currently on the side of those who are defending the treasonous bastards in the White House today. But, I doubt it is spreading. If anything, more and more people are waking up to the fact that Trump is a Russian mole.

Your comment must explain the increasing signs of optimism in every part of society felt by individuals throughout America.

Do you really believe that Trump is a Russian mole?

Bought and paid for plus being blackmailed. Absolutely. I know enough about how the Russians operate to know he is in their clutches.

Obama left us in good shape. We may even survive Trump, assuming he is booted out rather quickly.

I don't, so I won't pretend to any expertise. Can you explain how Russia benefits from the Keystone Pipeline perhaps?

What does that strawman have to do with anything?

What does that strawman have to do with anything?

It's not a strawman. How does Russia benefit from a Trump presidency in terms of oil/gas/energy?

Obama left us in good shape. We may even survive Trump, assuming he is booted out rather quickly.

Obama managed to do what was previously considered to be impossible.

He terrorized the most risk friendly investors in the history of the world into a restrained and fearful approach to wealth accumulation.

This resulted in the first time ever that the American economy did not post a 3% or better growth rate in any year of his administration.

Since Trump was elected, things have started to turn around.

After the mid terms when the most recalcitrant Obama left overs are weeded out of the Congress and the administration, things should take off like a rocket.

This will be a good time for the country.

I was there when the Carter Curse was lifted and now when the Obama Curse is lifted.

This will become a great time to be graduating from school. The last 8 years was a very bad time to be graduating.

It's not a strawman. How does Russia benefit from a Trump presidency in terms of oil/gas/energy?

Because, if the allegations are true... figures in the Trump administration have signaled to Russia that they will be open to lifting the sanctions that were placed on that nation after the invasion of the Crimea:

"The U.S. sanctions on Russia are focused on the financial
services, energy, and defense industries. The sanctions contain a variety of
targeted prohibitions that have increasingly expanded the scope of the sanctions
program, to include: (...)

Prohibiting the provision of goods, services, and technology in support of
certain activities relating to the exploration or production of oil or gas in
Russia, its claimed maritime area, or “extending from its territory”

Restrictions on the supply of certain items (a) to the Russian military or
other military end-users in Russia; and (b) for use in oil or gas exploration or
production in Russia, including Arctic offshore locations or shale formations"

It's not a strawman. How does Russia benefit from a Trump presidency in terms of oil/gas/energy?

I suspect they are more concerned with weakening NATO and throwing a wrench in our democratic institutions then selling us gas and oil, which we wouldn't buy from them anyway.

Like I said: strawman.

nonsense

Not sure if that adds up.

The administration's direction seems to be one of energy independence (or buying from Canada), completing the Keystone-XL and Dakota access projects being steps in that direction. I think one of the next steps could very well be increasing drilling permitting in government owned lands and off shore.

Why would the US want to or need to buy oil/gas/energy from the Russians?

Wow! Great response! You must be some kind of a literary savant!

I'm honored to have been involved in a discussion with you!

Thank you!

I remember Clinton Derangement Syndrome, then Bush had one, then Obama. Did everyone forget those already?

Trump is easy to hate but that's not the point. It's surprising how many people still buy into the fallacy that there is any substantial difference between the two major parties in the US. They comprise the establishment that Trump threatens because if he is successful at all the whole ball of wax will unravel for the political parasites that have been feeding off the people to keep the status quo that keeps them in charge. They need to subvert this administration by any means necessary because it's about them not the people. Trump is the single greatest threat to the status quo since the Civil War.

proof or evidence?

accusing a person of treason or being a spy is a serious charge.
I severely hope you have some kind of hard proof or this just more of your hyperbole we see?

so far you like throwing accusations without evidence so please provide your proof.

I remember Clinton Derangement Syndrome, then Bush had one, then Obama. Did everyone forget those already?

I have no idea what you are talking about.

I voted for Clinton, Gore, and Obama.

I opposed the impeachment efforts of the Republicans over the Monica Lewinski "lying" issue as the same kind of farce this Democratic Russian contact "lying" issue is today.

I thought Gore should have won...right up until the SCOTUS said no. At which point I accepted the outcome, grudgingly.

I thought Bush II was an idiot, a puppet of his VP Dick Cheney. I opposed his invasion of Iraq predicting the mess it would create.

But I don't recall any constant rioting by crazy crowds, or constant attacks by the MSM when either Bill Clinton or Obama was elected.

I do recall complaints and protests over the Bush victory, which died down soon after the SCOTUS decision.

Still, nothing that could be compared to the kinds of acts and situations Trump has been saddled with right from the declaration that he had won the election.

So please explain what you mean...I am honestly curious.

So please explain what you mean...I am honestly curious.

For Bill Clinton, I'm referring to the American militia movements that went hyperactive while he was president, as well as the usual suspects in the right wing media sphere. It was not referred to as "derangement syndrome" until:
American pundit and psychiatrist Charles Krauthammer, noting the reaction of liberals to George W. Bush and his policies, in a 2003 column coined the term Bush Derangement Syndrome to describe "the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency—nay—the very existence of ...

Obama obviously had the birthers (including Trump) and numerous other opponents that were rather deranged. Usage of the phrase:
Urban Dictionary: Obama Derangement Syndrome

As for you, personally, I was not implying any sort of bias. I was only trying to point out that presidents have been getting dumped on this way since Clinton, maybe before.

Trump ran a rather polarizing campaign, so the opposition to him in the face of zero moderation on his part doesn't surprise me.

Again, apologies if I came off as calling you out in some way.

Wow! Case in point.

Wow! Case in point.

When someone starts whining about being wire tapped, you know they are guilty. They know they've been caught, and now all they have left for a defense is to cover it up.
