Nothing IMO provides greater evidence of Presidential Qualifications than coming out the Winner after submitting yourself to the rigors of the American Electoral Process. In 2000, the race came down to a Supreme Court Decision in which the majority declared GW the Winner!

Trump defeated 16 Republicans in the Primary. Team Trump, with far less money than his main competitor, won the General Election! Trump continues to prove himself as a formidable force!

I think all those years of flying into Manhattan in his personal helicopters and having servants at his beck and call also affirm his Presidential Qualifications. Keep in mind, in spite of his Presidential Qualifications, I predict the inherent pressures of the office lead to a meltdown and he does not complete his term.

What say you?

I agree with most of what you said.. I don't know about the meltdown part.. In his business world, what he said was law.. as president, it's not quite the same, so it's up to how well he handles that..

He also beat the most heavily financed, most massive political machine, and almost guaranteed a victory ( just because she was a woman ) democrat.

I know that I personally couldn't take the pressure and constant unrelenting criticism. I cannot think of one really good reason why ANYONE his age with his resources would want to be POTUS.

Stress isn't good for one's health. Depending on how he's handling it, he may die in office.

So, getting elected is evidence you're qualified to be president, but he's going to fail anyway.

I.... what?

With Trump's easy-going temperament, he can't have a meltdown.

I think that after last Saturday Trump realizes the error of his ways. From now on, he'll behave in a mature, professional manner and he'll be a president we will now all be proud of.

Darn, I should have posted this in the humor section.

In all seriousness, I don't want to see anyone, even Trump have a meltdown. I do think that last Saturday was an "aha" moment for him. Not even his VP or staff will back up his claims regarding Obama surveilling Trump Tower. I'd like to believe that even Trump can learn from his mistakes.

Not a day goes by that I don't willfully wish for the end of Trump's tenure as POTUS.

A brief aside- I didn't grieve a bit upon finding out Justice Scalia died. Instead, I thought "Geez, the death of my least favorite Justice (ahead of Justice Thomas) just changed the composition of the SCOTUS for the better. Condolences to all his family and friends. Amen!"

I am unsure how flying in a helicopter and having a personal staff qualifies you for anything except flying in a helicopter and having a personal staff. That said, despite the obvious "pressure cooking" environment of the job, the incumbents almost always seek another term.

Trump is a buffoon.

Huh?

One) he lost the popular vote - so more Americans wanted Clinton than Trump.

Two) so a great qualification for being POTUS is if you were born rich with lots of servants or not? Ummm...I don't think the two have anything to do with each other. My maternal grandparents had lots of servants and (though I loved them both) I would shudder to think what Canada (they were Canadian) would have ended up like had they ran that country. In fact, having servants to boss around and living in an ivory tower - if anything - makes you completely detached from the nation and the problems most Americans face.

As for his meltdown? I have no idea.

I mean its rampant everywhere, the schools, the universities, the media, the pundits, Hollywood & their entertainment lessers, in addition to the billionaire now so conveniently socialist class supporting the inane yet long term harmful progressive pols out there, fewer and fewer that there are in any seat of power...

But your post so epitomizes the tolerance preached then demanded by the left for which they feel they absolutely have no obligation of reciprocity... nor even faking it for the cameras anymore. The condolences was a nice wrap up, tho, made the rest almost seem classy.:lamo

This Thread began in the "Light side/Humor" section.. then moved via a Powerful Source to "General Political Discussion". Count on me everyday to willfully wish for the end of Trump's tenure as POTUS. I hope his tenure somehow serves as a catalyst for positive change!

I intended the thread to serve as Light Humor. Yes, Presidents tend to seek a 2nd term. JFK didn't (albeit for a morbid reason).. nor did LBJ. We can hope can't we? Please don't take a man's hope!

We both have watched the Pendulum of Power swing back and forth. I know which side I feel comfortable on. The Leaders, no matter from which side and no matter how hard I have tried, refuse to let me enter their inner sanctum. So I have focused on living well no matter who holds power... AND maintaining a healthy distrust of government no matter who holds power. For now, you have chosen to live in Panama. Someday, I, too, might live elsewhere. Bless you and yours!

Yes, and I am more comfortable this side.

Know too much history to do otherwise. Yet that was a post far more to my liking values wise. I hailed from over in your neighbor's, Orlando, area... and yep, can be done without a ton of money but with steady and due diligence, keeping one on the prize, the other firmly on the fun pedal.

I try to take my due diligence as entertainment.

What say me? I say this is just more lib wishful thinking. You don't think his career up to this point has been stressful and demanding?

He didn't "lose" the popular vote. That's not how presidents are elected in this country. He WON the election. ;)

Yes this is very important semantics here!

Facts are not semantics.

It's a fact that he received fewer total votes than Hillary Clinton, which is the actual point that the poster was bringing up.

And you're arguing about whether or not that is "losing" the popular vote. Nobody cares.

I've been saying that about the job for years. Look at Obama and GWB. Before and after pics are shocking. And those guys were both relatively young and healthy. Trump?

That said, he may delegate and tune out, only emerging for ego massage "rallies".

He most definitely LOST the popular vote. By approx. 3 MILLION votes. As such, MORE American voters preferred Hillary. And yes, our election process is not determined by popular vote, but Hillary won it nonetheless.

I'm not sure you understand how words work. Believe it or not, they actually have meaning.
