This is certainly a biased article, but in the main it tells the story. For the GOP, it will always be about the party and not the country. Everyone knows that there are ties between Trump and the Russians, but since those ties might shed a negative light not only on Trump but the GOP, everything will be buried. I mean they, the GOP, spent 7 years and 8 investigations into CLinton and Benghazi and her emails, but to investigate one of their own, not going to happen. ANd Trump's ties with Russia might be ten times as serious and dangerous to this country than anything Clinton did, but again that doesn't count. The fact that he is a GOPer makes him immuune to any investigations as long as the GOP controls our country. I have always said that it is not wise and even dangerous for one party to totally control the legislative and executive branches of our government and now we see the reason why. It is as close to a dictatorship as I hope this country ever comes. I hope their total control comes to an end in 2018, but the mass of the American people have been dumbed down to such an extent I feel it won't happen.

Correction: everyone does not "know" there are ties between trump and the russians

That is just the lib lie being spead because the democrats lost an election

"Everybody knows" is the logical fallacy of an appeal to popularity. But the fact is people are being told by folks like you that there must be, and so begin to assume that there are, ties to Russia that pose an insidious threat to a Trump Presidency.

However, the facts currently indicate that there are no direct ties between Mr. Trump and the activities of the Russian government. Just lots of innuendo, and attempts to create negative links by sensationalizing normal business conducted by members of his party.

It like a big lie...if you repeat it often enough it begins to take on a life of it's own.

Speaking as a liberal, I would like to reassure you that the homogeneity of the GOP is not nearly as monolithic as you are making it sound. It's not that bad. They are no unified juggernaut that is unstoppable. Consider, currently in the GOP, that in addition to the Trumpists, there are liberterians, neocons, Tea Partiers and Freedom Caucus types, Christian Coalition types, Koch brothers types, etc, etc... and many times, they may talk like they are in the same party, but when it comes down to it, they are a pretty contentious and fractious group. For example, some of the folks most vehemently spearheading the Russia probe right now into the Trump administration's potential ties to Russia are the very Republican Lindsey Graham and John McCain.

So buck up. I think it's going to be OK. Of course that does not mean we should be complacent. Don't forget to vote in 2018! But in the meantime, it's not the end of the world.

I agree with this, but... it's lying-by-omission. The Dem Party is EXACTLY the same way. Neither party is more noble than the other.

Democracy is supposed to be all about aligning government action with the desires of those that elect it. This is done by structuring the property rights of the jobs to optimize the utility of the elected person by optimizing that of his voters. So don't be too surprised, when parties optimize their utility function. If the democracy is well designed it is, what you want to happen.

Correction: You have no idea whether there was/are Russian ties either. None of us do at this point in time. As such, you declarations are as much "bantering" as those calling for impeachment.

How about trump trying to pass the buck of the Navy Seal death to his generals?

And now trying to pass these decisions whether to attack to the Pentagon to keep trump out of blame's way ?
