I think the better solution is to have our press go back to being non profit, .ike it was all the way up to the 80s.

I do not remember the press being nonprofit back then. Though they seemed more respectable back before the 24 he news cycle.

How did I end up as post #1 in a thread that Maggie started?

My position is that instead of media outlets having a lock on attendance at press conferences (traveling corps same thing) that there should be a rotation by lottery.

Parameters could be carefully set. There might be two or three lotteries for the whole group that took size into account. Or some other parameter into account. And the corps might rotate every thirty days...?

Your thoughts?

I think the ABC media should get all their facts second hand...just like they report them. 8)

Not a bad idea except for the extreme imbalance between hostile (to the President) press to that which is more objective. As it is, I can't trust AP, Reuters, NY Times, Wapo, CNN, or any of the alphabet channels to be honest about much of anything and given that imbalance, a lottery would be far more likely to produce a 100% hostile representation for briefings that would not be a good thing. I am very supportive of the new policy inviting those in who will report what the President or Spicer actually says instead of having only those who will omit anything positive and otherwise spin it into something negative.
