The Mexican Wall: The new "Bridge to nowhere".

That would be a great deal for the illegals because only the most naive and uninformed rube would actually think a wall is going to keep illegal migrants from finding their way into the country.

Here are of few of the Democratic “naive and uninformed rubes“ that voted for the “Secure Fence Act” 2006:
Hillary Clinton
Barack Obama
Joe Biden

“The Secure Fence Act of 2006’s goal is to help secure America’s borders to decrease illegal entry, drug trafficking, and security threats by building 700 miles (1,100 km) of physical barriers along the Mexico-United States border. Additionally, the law authorizes more vehicle barriers, checkpoints, and lighting as well as authorizes the Department of Homeland Security to increase the use of advanced technology like cameras, satellites, and unmanned aerial vehicles to reinforce infrastructure at the border.[1] Congress approved $1.2 billion in a separate homeland security spending bill to bankroll the fence.”

It was a simple bit of "campaign fodder" that a politician (which Trump is) could use to play on folks irrational fears. The fact that he used it isn't surprising in the least. The fact that so many people bought into it is the truly amazing part.

Here's something else you might find amazing: “Secure Fence Act” 2006. And guess who bought into it... Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden all voted "YEA". I guess they also played on "folks irrational fears":

Good point. Most illegals came here legally and simply overstayed their VISAS. That concept was a bit too difficult for that average Trump supporter to understand. As such, campaign advisors to Trump suggested a "Build a Wall" message that was an easier way to play on their irrational fears.

Looks like maybe you have an “understanding” problem. 40% or 45% is not more than half. Where did you get that figure? From Harry Reid? Maybe from Rachael Maddow? Never let facts get in the way of a good narrative. And here’s what I do understand: If a wall can fix more than half the illegal immigration problem and some of the drug smuggling, I’m for it.

"From the WSJ..Many immigrants who are in the United States illegally never jumped a fence, hiked through the desert or paid anyone to help them sneak into the country. According to a recent study, 45 percent of illegal immigrants came here on a legal visa, and then overstayed that visa."

"From NPR..Proponents of overhauling the U.S. immigration system increasingly point to the fact that about 40% of the 11 million undocumented workers in the country aren't low-wage workers who sneaked over the southern border illegally, but rather foreigners who arrived legally and simply never left."

Please feel free to post where I supported that endeavor as well. You could write a book on "blind allegiance".

And you would be as wrong on immigration as likely are on other things as well. Just go ahead and build the wall. Just let me know MEXICO pays for it.

You do realize how short the wall is in Israel compared to the over two thousand miles of wall we will have to build. And just so you know, we paid for the wall in Israel.

Good liberal. Good liberal. When you get pounded by facts, deflect. Good job. Mind explaining what I said was wrong? And what "other things" am I wrong about?

MY thoughts are that regardless of the politics, government public works projects are a good way to stimulate the economy.

I never said you did support the endeavor did I? You said "It was a simple bit of "campaign fodder" that a politician (which Trump is) could use to play on folks irrational fears. I just pointed out that it's apparent that it's not only Trump who supports the wall, and that you might be amazed that some prominent Democratic leaders did as well. Just thought I'd point that out to further your education. So, exactly what do I have blind allegiance to that you discerned from my post? The only thing I have blind allegiance to are facts. What were you thinking?

Everybody that doesn't agree with your "condensed" view of the world isn't a Liberal. Typical Conservative conceitedness on vivid display once again.

Again, let me know IF you get Mexico to pay for the wall. I will be waiting around.

First, I'm sorry I referred to you as a liberal. That was a low blow and I apologize. Second, I could give a crap who pays for the wall as long as it gets built and it accomplishes what most people think it will do. To me that is the most important issue.

First off, no apology is necessary. I didn't take the "Liberal" comments as an insult. Simply a miss-characterization of my views.

That said, lets take a better look at what you said: Do you really think that a campaign line that said, "We are going to build a great wall, and you (the U.S. Taxpayer) will have to pay for it"? I think not.

Trump knew darn well that we were going to pay for it when he said it. Simply put, he lied to both you and me.
