Rep.Ellison: Impeach DJT

The future, hopefully, chair of the party of corruption wants to impeach DJT. Do you leftists believe this will increase his chances of being selected by globalists to run your party?

Ellison: You?re darn right we should order the Code I on Trump « Hot Air

ELLISON: I think that Donald Trump has already done a number of things which legitimately raise the question of impeachment. I mean on day one — (APPLAUSE) — on day one, he was in violation of the emollients clause. This is a part of the Constitution that says as President, you can’t get payments from a foreign power. The day people checked into his hotel and started paying him, who were foreign dignitaries, he was in violation of that law. There’s already a lawsuit filed against him. And right now, it’s about only Donald Trump. It is about the integrity of the presidency.

So yes, I think that we need to begin investigations to not to go after Donald Trump, but to protect our Constitution and presidency of the United States, to make sure that nobody can monetize the presidency and make profit off it for their own gain.

I would love to see you try to debate him. If you'll notice, Ellison said they should begin investigations to see if impeaching Trump is appropriate, not that they should impeach him. We have no idea how much (if any) he conspired with a country hostile to the US in order to win the Presidency. We have no idea how much (if any) he's used his position to advance his business and brand. I don't think calling for that is radical at all.

As for your "hopefully" line, remember when the DNC was hoping and praying that Trump would get nominated? How did that turn out?

Ellison represents the insecurity of liberals

They are not confident that their ideas can reach enough LEGAL voters to beat trump in a fair election so they have to smear his reputation instead

For me it's turning out quite Good ...

As a Progressive and some who Voted for Obama, I use to hear a lot about how the Republicans main agenda should be to destroy the Obama Legacy. Well we can all safely put that wish-list to bed, just like the one to make Obama a One-Term President. Unless you just landed hear from another planet, you'd have to be deaf, dumb or flat-out stupid to not know this is the most Childish, most immature and thin skinned individual in all of Washington DC. Hell ... all I need to do is go on Twitter now and call Donald "Don Cheeto The Orange Bandit-O" and you can bet he'd be on Twitter first thing in the morning whining like a little 3 year old. :lamo

Personally I'm having a blast laughing my ass off at this Moron; and the best part is ... watching all those people from the mid-west and southern states who voted for Trump, now saying wait! you're actually going to take my Obamacare away?" ... and to be completely honest with you and totally sadistic, nothing would make me happier than to see those Middle-Class and The Poor Trump Supporters back on 60 Minutes crying about family members dying because they couldn't get preventive Healthcare for them, or the Insurance Companies denied their treatment.

... and guess what my question to them will be ... how'd that turn out for you, knowing that the last person who even gave a flying F'ck about them was a Black Community Organizer from Chicago. :lamo ... so enjoy paying for him and his family's Government HealthCare for the rest of their lives ... just like the Senator and Congressmen who con them into thinking it was bad for them.

All I can say is, have a nice short life, you Voted for it, now live it.

There is currently no law preventing a seated President from engaging in business activity while in office.

“No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”
Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 U.S. Constitution

This "Emolument" clause pertains to a direct bribe or gift or other blandishment with the intent to directly and intentionally influence a Federal official.

Just because a foreign national rents a room or buy's some perfume from a business established by a seated President does not equate to violation of this clause.

IMO, just more innuendo trying to bash the current President. :coffeepap:

Maybe Ellison has a good reason to seek what he seeks .............

Ellison doesn't check all my boxes for what I want in a candidate, but he is years ahead of the other choices. I think it's smart to use strong rhetoric against Trump even if it doesn't pan out. Democrats need to know that it's time to fight. There can be no more sitting around while republicans trash them, and then immediately take offense to something they say in response. As we have seen in just the past few days, with the republican town halls, there a lot of weak people hiding behind the republican strongman facade.

DJT got elected. But I don't see where DJT being elected has anything to do with the globalist elite selecting Ellison as leader of the party of corruption.

I think talk of impeachment is unseemly and embarrassing.

I wouldn't expect leftists to talk about anything else. But that's me. I think Ellison would make a wonderful chair, as I stated before. Nothing would be more fitting for the party of corruption.

Debate someone that thinks the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Either party being "the party of corruption" is not good for the nation. It's in our best interests to have a robust loyal opposition no matter which party is currently in power. So I hope that this Lopez is a good guy (with whose ideas I'll cheerfully and respectfully disagree) rather than Ellison. Calling for impeachment, while attention-getting, is reckless and unbecoming.

What I see as an outsider is a party that needs to regroup, rebuild, and re-imagine itself. It needs new leaders. This continual agitation is awful and also becoming tedious to grownups on all sides of the aisle, IMO.

Increasingly the D's look to be punch drunk, simply unable to regroup.

I would say that is accurate for the establishment side of the Dems. The progressive wing is really gaining traction. It will be interesting to see if they can come together in time to make a good run in 2020.

Gotta figure that becoming the Progressive Party is a sure way to stay out of power.....we will be Mexico all over again, where the PRI held power for 71 years. The Progressive ideology is appealing to some, but there are never enough of them, never have been, never will be most likely.

The Modern D Party: " We are fighting man, we are throwing punches, we are have been losing for ages and have no idea of how to win, but we are fighting...for you!".

How do you feel about the President shaping his policies to promote his own business interests and brands? Because that's what I said, not "engaging in business activity."

So Donald Trump, a billionaire with elite business interests around the globe, isn't a globalist elite? He's just an elite globalist?

I think people could get behind a left wing populist. They may have missed their window, due to the economy recovering now, but the messaging is simple enough and old people won't stop getting older.

These old people are very often the very same people who started out their adult life in the counter culture....what makes you think that millennials will not take the same life journey?

If we had a President who did that I would be upset, but since we dont I really dont care much about this hypothetical.

Traitor to his class is what he decided to be.

We got lucky.

We might, but yesterday's equal rights for blacks is today's equal rights for homosexuals and trans. I'm sure I will become stubborn and resist change as I age, but social progress will still happen. It just takes a while sometimes.

Does the universe speak to you?

Who told you that "Progress Toward UTOPIA " is preordained?

Yes. I don't recall DJT telling big Wall St. bankers he has to tell them one thing and tell his supporters something different. That was Globalist Granny. DJT is far from being a Globalist elite. He in fact is the opposite.

I'm just talking about social progress. Each generation has its battle for and against new social norms. I think it's fair to say that as time has passed there have been many more changes that are inclusive instead of exclusive. I'll agree it isn't guaranteed, but there is a trend.
