Who wants Sanctuary cities and why?

Don't forget that we've been deporting illegals for years. The WH has made it very clear that there are no roundups in this new initiative. We can believe that and keep a watchful eye, or we can forget about enforcing the law. Seems to me we don't have that many choices.

Seeing is believing, Maggie. At least it is for me. I'm a a skeptic when it comes to any politician, and may to a fault. There's been few in my lifetime that has captured my heart.

Oh, I get it!

Know who captured my heart although I couldn't support much of what he did? Barack Obama. Best smile on planet earth.

And yet he disappointed the hell out of me with promises made around transparency (and a couple of other issues). Yes, very cute smile, but not cute enough.

I don't understand the mindset of those who support the idea of Sanctuary Cities. Why would city leaders want to protect illegal immigrants who are guilty of felonies? Why would they advertise themselves as such? And why would residents of a city support felonious illegals at the possible expense of Federal funds and huge tax increases?

What's the end game? Why?

One reason is the extent of collusion in some areas with the illegal labor market. In some places it seems that large portions of economic activity depends on the illegal aliens. Don't forget, we are talking about many millions that were allowed to integrate by the last administration to the point of encouragement. If you now pull those workers out of businesses you might not be able to get the car fixed or granny's bed pan emptied at the hospital.

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised by him. Considering his level of experience and his background in politics, he did much less damage than I was afraid he might. That is not to say that the bill coming due in steps won't be high. It will be. But it could have been worse.

Liberals in Tallahassee want sanctuary cities. FSU students (led by our campus SJW group) just voted to support making the campus a sanctuary, and one of our city commissioners sent a letter to the police to ignore immigration enforcement. His reasoning is jails are full, the mandate is unfunded and the illegals are "so called", its an unpopular and ill advised bounty hunt.

FSU student reasoning was equality of access to higher education, encouraging illegals not to be afraid of reporting crimes, and ensuring they have access to public service so they can have a better quality of life

That's fine. Any city can make themselves Sanctuary Cities, they just won't get anymore Federal Funding.

Why is it that when some people refer to "illegal immigrants" they broad-brush every single one of them as this:

Illegal-Immigrants-Gangs.jpg

when in fact there's a whole crap-ton of people who are actually all about caring for, and protecting these:

Why do some not make a distinction between legal and illegal immigration?

I could ask why do those who support illegal immigration bring up "children" and ignore the gangs. Yea, its just the reverse of your post.

No they cant. State govts will have a problem with that and take over. Local law enforcement cant just decide what state and federal laws they are going to enforce without legal consequences. Morally, im ok with ignoring laws passed where the states never granted the fed power, like drug laws, but immigration is clearly a federal power.

The Left has lost the war of ideas, now they are trying to stuff the ballot box with 3rd world votes. That is why.

Cheap labor for big and small companies alike. The borders are historically porous for this reason and this issue should expose the hypocrisy of a government that's influenced by corporations. Clinton, Bush and Obama did nothing substantial to stop it.
