California MoveOn calls their Town Hall Disruption Strategy "Resistance Recess"

I own up to using the words "how to disrupt it". If you thought I used the term to imply support of illegal behavior at Town Hall meetings, then you misunderstood me. I did go back and check the email... and could not find the word "disrupt" or a synonym of the word in the flier. The flier refers to the tactic as "Resistance Recess". I once "Rocked the World" of one of my daughters when I took her cell phone away for a few hours as a discipline measure. Perhaps we could come to agreement if we sought agreement as a goal? You IN or OUT?
There are precisely 0 liberals seeking agreement as a goal.

Renouncing the TPP, renegotiating our trade deals, protecting the LGBTQ community, making sure that there are jobs in this country, ending our unnecessary wars in the middle east, even vouchers in failing schools. These are things that Democrats used to believe in and support. These are things that Democrats preached on heavily to their constituents. Besides Bernie sanders who has mentioned such things once or twice, the entire DNC apparatus has stood for, nay demanded resistance to Trump and the GOP in every conceivable manner in every imaginable way.

From the local level which involves wilfully and intentionally disrupting efforts by politicians to speak to their constituents. To the national level which has involved members of CONGRESS like Maxine Waters, Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren demanding opposition to Trump. The MSM, the propoganda arm of the DNC, has been repeatedly caught indulging in falsehoods in order to damage Trump and the Republican agenda. Nation wide boycotts that stretch the willing suspension of belief: harrassing the UBER CEO off the Business Advisory Panel even though Trump has made a dedicated effort to seek out liberals in formulating and incorporating liberal ideals into his business plans for the futre.

What aspect of the liberal agenda has shown any inkling of even attempting to have a dialogue about anything?

Oh, so funny! Coming to a meeting, sometimes screaming at the top of his lungs (pandering ridiculous ideas to the gullible) and refusing to wait his turn describes my take on Trump The Grump.

His turn?

The presumptuousness of everyone insisting that it was HER TURN (re: Hillary) is hugely why her loss was so... delicious.

There are no turns.

You disgust me, you don't want things to get better, you actually want to exacerbate this already toxic political discourse; may posterity forget you were our countryman.

I'll bet you also support those violent, rioting, black bloc antifa assholes too don't you?

Spartacus, you have made this a bit personal. Did I read your profile correctly? You immigrated here from the Caribbean Island of Hispaniola? I live in Florida... and have a true love for the Caribbean. I deem the insults you hurled at me as very candyass on your part and one of your obvious character defects.

And makes you just as about as ludicrous.

Good point! If in fact I have a ludicrous nature, I also has far less likelihood of negatively impacting millions and billions of people as does our Ludicrous Billionaire Buffoon President, right?

I don't care what the likes of you thinks of me, resorting to name calling only reduces my estimation of you further.

If you consider calling out disruptive assholes who would exacerbate the already toxic political discourse as a character defect, I wear that badge proudly. Given the resounding condemnation of you in this thread, I am glad to share said character defect with so many others here. In fact, I call it a virtue, not a defect.

Yeah, that's the leftist ideology. Forced compliance. No debate, no discussion, no freedom of speech.

The one thing I can say positive about the left is that they have backbone. They might have no meaningful values and they might not stand for much in many areas, but where they do stand for something they stand like a rock and won't move. I just wish they didn't force the other side to fight dirty with them.

Team Trump's ascension to the WH spawned a new era of Alternative Facts and Climate Change Denial. I don't know enough about NAFTA or TPP to chime in. I leave that subject to Trade Policy experts. I definitely support protection and rights to the LGBTQ community, protection of our 4th Amendment rights, a Woman's Right to Choose, overturning Citizens United, maintaining our military superiority, a Progressive Income Tax system, a growing middle class, high quality affordable health care for as many Americans as possible and tolerance for diverse views and cultures. I strongly opposed our attack on Iraq. Trump has apologists who routinely walk back his outrageous statements. Pence explained to our NATO allies they can continue to count on our protection. Mad Dog explained to Iraq we don't plan on taking their oil. I admire Trump and acknowledge he has a formidable skill set and resources. I do not want him as our POTUS. I hope his tenure as POTUS ends sooner than later. I hope his election serves as a positive catalyst for positive change. God Bless America!

I opened an email today from MoveOn. I didn't open the link in the email that leads me to the closest Town Hall meeting and how to disrupt it.

I love this stuff! I wish Progressives had more effective groups spread out over the entire nation. I have not found a good one in Florida.

When Trump did his Melbourne, Florida (east coast) rally last Saturday, roughly 800 people showed up in downtown Sarasota, Florida (west coast) to protest Trump's divisive policies.

Got to Love American-style politics! Hey GOP, I like my ObamaCare/Florida Blue Select Health Insurance! Can I keep it?

Dump President Trump. Let's encourage him to perform his comical act someplace other than the White House.

so much hate, so little effort at actually making things better.

Astro-turfing activists want to keep thier Obamacare which is spiraling out of control.

Shouting down free speech, makes you a fascist. Towne halls are for dialouge not tantrums.

Figuratively speaking, you drew first blood comrade when you described me as disgusting... and suggested I support violent, rioting, black block antifa assholes. Does that group have a few recognizable leaders? I immediately thought of young rabble rousing Michael Heimbach. Yeah, so you definitely came off as a shallow hot head not interested in civil discourse. I consider myself a pretty good judge of character and lack thereof.

Yeah. I love getting cheap insurance because a bunch of 25 year olds pay for it too.

Have you ever reviewed the Health care exchange? Some of the insured have premium free plans. Anyone can opt out... at a maximum opt out penalty of $695/adult per taxable year. Some people opt out due to income guidelines and receive an "Unaffordable Exemption". Basically the IRS worksheet uses a formula based on 8.13% of Modified Adjusted Gross Income.

Why would you want to demonize a sincere effort to provide high quality affordable health care insurance to as many Americans as possible? Do you want to protect the vast wealth of major insurance companies? My first wife... 22 year marriage that ended in divorce... has worked for Allstate Insurance since 1986. One of best friends... we met in 1975... had an uncle that started Colonial Penn (tied in w/ the AARP). His uncle became obscenely wealthy and passed away in Palm Beach County about 15 years ago. I just don't get the reasons behind hating Obamacare. Improve on Obamacare... call it GOPcare, TrumpCare... I don't care... but at least consider why you resist affordable high quality health care for the masses and articulate some of those reasons.

Wait...so an opt-out is paying the penalty? lol That's like saying getting a speeding ticket is opting out of going the speed limit.

I don't quite understand? I could understand restricting participation in a closed meeting. Have you implied the Republican Town Hall meeting in your area that you referenced restricted participation to Republicans only?

Those closed republican meetings are how we got the Romney 47% comment.

As well, let the GOPoliticians not hold town halls, like chicken**** coward and just elected Sen. Toomey of PA.

22 GOP senators are up in 2020 and 2022.

The very real danger for GOPs right now is the US House and state legislatures and governors.

It's good to see Spicer and trump dismissing these town halls, as DEMs did in 2009. GOPs still can't agree with themselves after 6+ years in regards to ACA.

Do take notice at who is attacking you in this thread and how few words with even less thought are behind them .

Huh? Pardon my lack of understanding your analogy. Please clarify your point. You might get a ticket for causing an accident, or impeding the flow of traffic, or exceeding the speed limit or violating a traffic law. How does opting out of health insurance and paying a penalty or receiving an "Unaffordable Exemption" because you don't meet an income threshold analogous to "... getting a speeding ticket is opting out of going the speed limit."

Because you're not opting-out, but paying a penalty for not doing as the government demands. This is really no different than failing to obey the speed limit as the ticket acts as a penalty for not doing as the government demands.

A town hall meeting is to establish a clear communications channel between politicians and their constituents and you're celebrating the impedement of this communication? That's liberalism in a nutshell. It is liberals who think that they're the ones who should dictate policies to the governed after all.

And insist that them working to police and limit the societal communications in service to their drive to Utopia is a worthy cause.

Imbeciles.

Okay. I might now understand! As a Libertarian you have big league resentment for "more government', therefore, a government insisting on mandating health insurance grates on your nerves and seems patently unnecessary and overbearing?

If I sort of got this right, I have an answer- On some issues, our government insists on taking a socialistic approach and forcefully determines our Common Welfare. Thereafter, the government further determines how to compute and implement 'progress for the greatest number of people."

First off all, the word progress in politics is subjective, so this idea you can use it in some objective way where only you believe in it is nothing but condescending nonsense. Second, nothing of what you wrote has anything to do with my point whatsoever. An out-out implies and frankly means you can get out of doing without penalty, not be penalized for failing to do something.

Ignorance and arrogance often accompany a condescending attitude. If I have offended you... it would surprise me because you come off as quite robust here in DP, I grinningly apologize. Feel some Love! May our Best Times lie ahead!

As for the opt rules required by ObamaCare legislation that you strongly disagree with.... and my utter incapacity to comprehend any of your points, we have come to an impasse. Thank you for participating in this thread! Bless you and yours!

Pardon my lack of comprehension. I have read and re-read your post... and continue to find your syntax incomprehensible.

People say the same thing about academic writing, the more learned the writer the harder they are to read, so I will take your comment as a compliment.
