Article Here.

In at least five states, roughly 60 people lost their jobs this week after they skipped work to participate in the “Day Without Immigrants” protest on Thursday, according to local media reports.

The protest, which was aimed at highlighting the importance of immigrants to the U.S. economy, called on all immigrants to not work or buy anything Thursday and succeeded in shutting down businesses across the country, according to CNN. It is unclear, however, how many people participated in the strike, according to ABC News.

Still, around five dozen people say their participation in the protest cost them their employment as businesses fired them for not showing up to work.

Welp. Can't say I didn't see this coming.

I'm also figuring only half of them actually went to a demonstration. Call me cynical.

Who are you to question them on that point? Just because you may lack the courage of you convictions doesn't mean that others do.

I don't lack the courage of my convictions. Do you always assume the worst of people? Plenty of people use excuses to take a day off.

You were the one assuming the worst of people. I figured you were just projecting. \_(ツ)_/¯

I like to have convictions that aren't stupid. Apparently the protesters have a different opinion on the matter.

And here we have an example of where both sides are correct.

What the hell?
You're correct because I've never seen you not have the courage of your convictions, at least not on the forum. You're also correct when you say plenty of people use excuses to take the day off.

But he's correct because you actually did assume the worst in people. You assumed people lied about where they were going to be in order to be lazy and get out of doing their job. So you did assume the worst of people.

So you're both correct. :)

Christ. Now I have to like your post.

My fiancee said like 200 kids didnt go to school on that day and it was the most peaceful the school has ever been

Of course, the level of peace in a room is inversely proportional to the number of children in it.

No, she just acknowledged reality.

Probably. I'm sure some didn't feel like losing their jobs.

If I'm not mistaken the workers are not entitled to unemployment checks if they get fired or quit
