Congress introduces legislation to authorize war against Iran

H.J.Res.10 - Authorization of Use of Force Against Iran Resolution

"This joint resolution authorizes the President to use the U.S. Armed Forces as necessary in order to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons."

What do you think Congress is up to? By the way, this legislation was Sponsored by Rep. Hastings, Alcee L. [D-FL-20] (Introduced 01/03/2017) after Trump was elected.......

Are we headed for war in Iran?

There are no co-sponsors. The resolution was referred to committee and no further action has been taken by the committee, and the Senate hasn't taken it up yet either.

I don't think this signals anything other than the sponsor of this resolution wants to get his wording used as the official wording should there come a need for an AUMF regarding Iran.

I am surprised McCain isn't all over this one. He never saw an excuse for war he did not like.
 
i don't see it happening. war with Iran would be incredibly expensive and fruitless, and tax cuts and deregulation seem to be the priority. of course, you really never know with Trump.

The bill was introduced by a Democrat, but don't let the facts get in the way of prejudice....

Oh, why, oh why did Obama give in / give up on the international sanctions against Iran?

Iran is well on their way to developing ICMBs, in 10 years they'll have a bomb, and the world will have gotten so much more dangerous with those weapons at the command of an extremist Islamic theocracy.

Iran is like twice the size of Iraq, and is allies with China and Russia. That is a Declaration of WW3 (if it happens).
