No, not the current one with the "all time" low approval rating of 38% (at this point in his term), but a couple from the past.

Thank you President Jefferson for realizing that a free press is a necessary component of a form of government that was created to be of the people, by the people and for the people.

Thank you President Kennedy for publicly saying that in spite of the heavy criticism being levied on you for the Bay of Pigs fiasco, that a free press was necessary to sustain our form of government. That the job of the press is not to be the friend of the White House, but is to hold the White House accountable.

In addition, thank you Senator McCain for pointing out that censoring a free press is the first step to a dictatorship.

On a side note, Thank you Senator McCain for your service to our country. Most of us cannot begin to comprehend what you must have endured during your lengthy stay in a Vietnamese prison camp. To have your service record criticized by our current POTUS is just another example of the "classless" manner in which he conducts himself. Your conduct is what the rest of the world admires and respects. Trumps behavior is what they rest of the world is either laughing about or shaking their heads at. Thank you for not bowing down to an arrogant egomaniacal bully and standing up for the majority.

The press does not get a free pass just because they hate Trump! There is no question the media has been very biased and partisan against Trump.
NO ONE is saying the press can not act as a free press but they have journalistic standards that they have to uphold as professional journalists.
If they can not follow them then there will be a price to be paid. People trust Trump over the media! The media has no one to blame but themselfs
for the position they are in today. Millions of Americans do not trust them and with excellent reasons!
