If Flynn lied to the FBI, should he be charged?

Lying to the FBI is a felony. According to WP FLynn did lie about his conversation with the Russians when questioned by the FBI. The question is, should he be charged for his lies as would most Americans if they did what he did?
 
If they had a firm case for it then yes. But it can be tough to prove, especially if the lies were prefaced by things like "to the best of my recollection". Proving something is a lie rather than a misstatement requires knowing what a person was thinking. It can be tough.

He should be treated exactly the same as anyone who committed the same action.
 
If he spills his guts about Trump campaign collusion with the Russians - make a deal with him.

Comey has been playing politics for awhile now. Not charging Clinton but talking about on going investigations when it suited him. If the orange koolaid drinkers believe the DoJ blocked charges for Clinton how difficult is it to believe Comey terms Flynn's 'misleading' statements as not an outright lie????

Absolutely. Cannot imagine every single poster not agreeing with this.

Edit...Just noticed your link says he DID lie... according to WaPo. Seems to me the only judge of whether or not he lied lies with, wait for it, the FBI.

Of course. If Flynn lied to the FBI, then he should be charged. However, it appears by what the FBI themselves are saying, that Flynn didn't lie to them. So, it would be difficult to prosecute him for lying to them.
 
I dont know the facts, so how could I say.....

Link proving Clinton lied to the FBI. What I remember is that she spent 11 hours under oath talking to the GOP in Congress and nothing came of it since there was nothing there. Maybe its time you give us a link showing Clinton lied to the FBI.

If Flynn's calls were so innocent then why did he lie to the FBI? That Trump had so many advisers with close ties and sympathies for Russia is just too coincidental.

I'm so damned skeptical of anonymous sources right now... you are assuming out the box that he DID lie to them. I'm not taking that position. Ever hear of a landmark prosecution? What effect do you think it would have had on "the rest" had Flynn been charged with obstruction of justice? Flynn may be many things. I seriously doubt that idiot is one of them. You don't lie to the FBI. He knows that.

I don't need to assume....the WaPo article quoted "officials" who said he lied. If you notice....Flynn isn't denying it and resigned from his job.

Moot, quote marks around something that comes from an anonymous source mean absolutely nothing.
 
Without question. This was the same guy who shouted "lock her up" over and over gain. The FBI has already given him a "gift" by giving him an opportunity to rehabilitate his original testimony. If more is proven, he needs to be held accountable.

It would hurt to investigate his "nut job" son either. The bulls&*t "pizza" tweets could have resulted in a significant tragedy.

If you're talking about using quotation marks, WaPo is legitimizing its so-called anonymous source by using them. I'm saying so-called because I have personal doubts about the article's truthfulness. I just don't think Flynn is that stupid.

Did WaPo give an opinion in the article....or did they simply report on what they were told by the anonymous official?


Flynn was a birther...so any question about his intelligence went bye bye a loooong time ago.

Yes, he should be charged & prosecuted to the fullest extent of any law that pertains

having said that, we all know what happened with North & Poindexter ........
 
100% Absolutely Yes. Nobody is above the law. That is why the call it the "Rule of Law"...
 
If he lied to the FBI, and that's a big IF, he should be charged. I haven't seen any kind of evidence that he lied to the FBI. But again, IF he lied, he should be charged. Nobody is above the law and nobody should be lying to the FBI.
