Some highlights of the 2017 Index of Economic Freedom

- US fell from 12th place to 17th place, scoring its lowest score ever on the index

- Japan fell from 22nd place to 40th place, and is now rated 'Moderately Free'

- China's score rose substantially after two decades of stagnation, and is now just 2.6 points from graduating its economic freedom rating from 'Mostly unfree' to 'Moderately free'

- Spain fell from 43rd place to 69th place, registering the lowest score drop of any industrialized country

- Argentina saw a modest rise in economic freedom after over two decades of decline, and its economy rose from 'Repressed' to 'Mostly unfree'

- Venezuela now ranks lower than Cuba on the index, and is now the 2nd least free economy after North Korea

- United Arab Emirates has made it the the top 10 economically freest countries, and now ranks 8th on the Index

- Sweden recorded its highest score ever on the index, and now ranks in the top 20

- Armenia, Latvia and Macedonia are now rated 'Mostly Free' economies

- Estonia is now only 0.9 point away from becoming a 'Free' economy, the highest category on the Index, held only by 5 countries

That is quite interesting. Especially the detailed country pages are worth it.
 
Damn, Venezuela is lower than Cuba?

I'm sure it's just us Yanks sabotaging the ranking numbers. At least that's what Comrade Maduro would tell me. :lamo

UAE is a shariacrat wonderland with slaves, I wouldn't put too much on that ranking. So, high ranking isn't automatically a good thing.
