Andrew Newman always pays his taxes, even if he hates what the government is doing with them. But not this year. For him, Donald Trump is the dealbreaker. He’ll pay his city and state taxes but will refuse to pay federal income tax as a cry of civil disobedience against the president and his new administration.

In the annals of dumbass self defeating protesting this has got to be one of the worst. Years from now, probably after Trump has left the Presidency, the IRS will get around to taking their bank accounts, houses, cars, etc., and throwing them in jail. The IRS tends to wait until it's worth their time and they don't have to take any political flak to go after someone.

Having a job where your income taxes are automatically withheld (by law) and huffing and puffing about not paying your taxes is especially dumb.

I have no idea who Mr Newman is or what his financial situation is but roughly half the population doesn't pay taxes anyway. If he's in that half then let him protest away.

Well, over 46% of working Americans don't even PAY Federal income taxes. Another quite large percentage of Americans are working and have their taxes automatically withheld and paid. I'd say the odds are very good that this guy is full of baloney.

And, of course, you're correct. They will catch up with him. And he will pay. Taxes...penalties...interest.

Tax resistance is only justified in very limited situations, this isn't one of them.

As much as I hate Trump and his first days have been a disaster, I can't ride with this.

If he actually does this verse just being full of crap like a porta potty. He would be the poster child for "people not paying their fair share of taxes" Democrats like to whine about

I remeber watching a documentary on something a few years ago and an agent from the IRS said an approximation of:
We may not get you this year, we may not get you next year, but we will get you."

For the sake of the mostly law-abiding of us, I hope he's right.

......

I love your brief signature. I see by your lean that we agree it's right from two entirely different perspectives, though. That's okay. I'm always delighted to find common ground with a liberal. ;)

Hope you like jail, sport!
And that's not even the worst part! Your entire life will be worth dog**** when the IRS finishes with you.

Save yourself the grief and just pay your damn taxes, ya moron!
