Trump FB: As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice.

Apparently, putting Iran "on notice" means....

Calling for an emergency UN Security Council meeting. And Nikki Haley calling for unspecified UN action.

WOAH!!! What a bunch of hard-asses and Internet Tough Guys!!!

Actually, that's a rational choice. I just think it's funny that people assume the entire world has changed because Trump is in office.

Putting them on notice? How does that compare to a line in the sand?

What the **** does that even mean? "Put on notice" Sounds like something a child would say.

I am happy with any text that is straight from the horse's mouth. What is the difference whether the text is on Facebook or a government website or in the NYT?
H'm, let me check my Facebook feed.

• My cousin Joe posted a photo of his new puppy

• There's an ad for cough drops

• Trump administration is vaguely threatening Iran

• Jane posted a selfie with the 2nd Avenue Subway art

Isn't it odd to claim that the Middle East is being destabilized by Middle Easterners ?

Guess we are going to have to drone them into submission aye :usflag2:.

The droning will continue until moral improves.

A delusional loose cannon, but not ****ing around. What a hero for modern America.

Delusional was Obama paying ransom money, and thinking you could trust the lunatics running Iran.

That's world class delusional.

I don't know just what Iran was being put on notice about, but we will see. A logical response would be to sink the next Iranian vessel that engages in any provocative action near a U.S. ship.

He could put it out unfiltered on the official government websites. Or Spicer could hand it to every media outlet in the world. It would all still be unfiltered. It's the words of the administration.

I have to agree with Lord here. Facebook isn't the place to announce policy decisions, especially very serious ones such as this.

I'm extremely disappointed with whichever one of the people advising Trump who thought this was a good idea. It's unprofessional and pretty shocking.

He used more than one outlet... which is wise dontcha think?

He put it where I first went wh.gov, and now, some of the folks not quite as interested in politics can find it at their local cyber corner store.

Democratizing information to the max... Smart I say.

I think we can call this EXTREME TRANSPARENCY.

And... getting around the Opposition Party, the Flame, Scream Media.

:)

Did it bother you that Obama went on Jon Stewart etc. to spread policy lies?

Would you consider that highly unprofessional and pretty shocking?

On a govt website it won't get noticed as fast as on Facebook is the only difference I can see. It's a good fast way to get the info out. The NYT would put their spin on it. I don't want to read their garbage any more than I want to talk to an ex wife. I would rather have someone kick me in the groin (metaphorically).

Because Facebook isn't the place to make public announcement about policy changes involving a very large country that we have had a less than positive relationship with for a few generations. It's a place where people go to post what they had for dinner and wish each other Happy Birthday.

Not sure why you keep mentioning the NY Times. I didn't - and they aren't the only media outlet in the world.

Delusional is the failure to understand that settling a decades-old lawsuit, that the US was going to lose anyway, wasn't a ransom payment.

When did any of these individuals threaten a foreign nation via Facebook?

It isn't classified. Is there a functional difference in the purpose between releasing it on facebook or a govt web site or is this just an emotional "cuz Trump" thing? Would you be upset if it came through a media network, like Fox or CNN? Is it that we have always done it one say so it should always be done that way?

Do you really want the federal government threatening war via Snapchat and Whatsapp?

Uh... no. This has nothing to do with transparency -- unless Trump posted his tax returns to Facebook too.

This is a very typical attempt to bypass media filters, something every President does. Even Obama did it, albeit via YouTube rather than Facebook. (And not for anything like a diplomatic snit with a nation that is already hostile to the US.)

Yes, because it's not like the media has Facebook. Or will report on it, in the same way they would any other policy announcement.

Oh, wait....

Testing rockets that are wmd capable.

Attack on Saudi warship.

The White House
Office of the Press Secretary
For Immediate ReleaseFebruary 01, 2017
Statement by the National Security Advisor

“Recent Iranian actions, including a provocative ballistic missile launch and an attack against a Saudi naval vessel conducted by Iran-supported Houthi militants, underscore what should have been clear to the international community all along about Iran’s destabilizing behavior across the Middle East.

The recent ballistic missile launch is also in defiance of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which calls upon Iran “not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology.”

These are just the latest of a series of incidents in the past six months in which Houthi forces that Iran has trained and armed have struck Emirati and Saudi vessels, and threatened U.S. and allied vessels transiting the Red Sea. In these and other similar activities, Iran continues to threaten U.S. friends and allies in the region.

The Obama Administration failed to respond adequately to Tehran’s malign actions—including weapons transfers, support for terrorism, and other violations of international norms. The Trump Administration condemns such actions by Iran that undermine security, prosperity, and stability throughout and beyond the Middle East and place American lives at risk.

President Trump has severely criticized the various agreements reached between Iran and the Obama Administration, as well as the United Nations – as being weak and ineffective.

Instead of being thankful to the United States for these agreements, Iran is now feeling emboldened.

As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice.”

What the what?

No one is talking about classified materials.

The functional difference is that Facebook is not an outlet for serious policy releases. It's inappropriate, and a bit silly, as it indicates that someone doesn't quite know what Facebook is. It's like... your crabby grandmother talking about sending you an "Outlook."

I for one can't wait for @midnight to give this move a thorough workout

Oh, wait....

I want our government to get their message out as clear and unfiltered as possible to as many people as possible... whether on snapface, chatbook, facechat or whatever cyber-tool they want to exploit.

I'm for people getting information... clear and unperverted.

Bypass media filters... PERFECT... let the people get the info firsthand and decide. Let them see the info, and then watch the FlameScream Media try to twist what was stated.

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.

The beauty of this posting, and I'm sure it's intentional, is it is short, sweet, and direct.

Clear communication, so even a brain dead Lib could understand it.

It's 12-days, and you cannot imagine how refreshing this is. And how much joy it brings watching the Left's heads explode like watermelons left out on an Arkansas parking lot in late July :)

I don't recall saying it was classified.

I'd prefer it come the way grown ups would make a proclamation of this serious nature to a country with whom we have bad relations. Fox, CNN, Reuters, the AP, BBC, Al Jazeera, anything. Not Facebook.

Are you defending this because it's an emotional "cuz Trump" thing?

I didn't say you said it was classified. I was saying that it wasn't classified there fore not restricted from public dissemination. You take a defensive posture real fast lately. I think you just want to argue so forget it.

lol

I hate to break this to you, but that is sheer fantasy. Posting this to Facebook is no different than putting out a press release, except that it's bumping up against your Aunt Gertie's muffin recipe in your Timeline. The media will comment on it the same way, and the people who like Trump and don't give a crap about the news will likely just ignore it.

And again, this is not all that new. It's just... inept. As one might expect.

I am saying that the publication isn't restricted by any classification. You still haven't produced a functional or legal reason this announcement shouldn't have been mad on facebook other than an opinion that it is inappropriate.

I didn't say you said it was classified. I was saying that it wasn't classified there fore not restricted from public dissemination. You take a defensive posture real fast lately. I think you just want to argue so forget it.

You asked me if my opinion was just "cuz Trump". And having a different opinion than yours isn't arguing. I asked you if you support this incredibly childish move "cuz Trump". I've defended the man when he deserves it, praised him when he deserved it, and criticized him when he deserved it. Apparently that's all "cuz Trump".

The only person who mentioned classified was you, and there was no reason to. You were arguing something that nobody said.

I do get defensive when someone can't debate and instead accuses me of saying something like a grown up "cuz Trump".

Iran fired on a Saudi frigate yesterday. The military believes that Iran mistakingly thought they were firing on a US ship.

Did this happen in the Gulf of Tonkin?
