Ok, hats off when it is deserved. And, last night's unveiling of the new SCOTUS appointee was masterful. More so even, since it has been reported that the announcement will now be followed by a campaign like promotional blitz touting the strengths and character assets of the honorable Neil Gorsuch, making it nearly impossible for the Dems to besmirch him with partisan hackery. This is a first, and the credit goes to Mr Trump.

One thing Don has done that I find absolutely positive is engage the people, all the people. Never before have I seen so much political energy displayed by the average Joe. Good and bad, pro Trump and anti, the man has opened a can of worms that needed opening. It's high time we brought everyone into the conversation, bring it out in the open and not just bury those making these decisions in the back rooms somewhere so that no one cares about what's happening except the few political junkies like us.

In the end, this will all be good for America...even if what Trump does policy wise may not be. At the very least we will all now be talking about what the hell is happening and why.

I think you have a fair point. I'd prefer it if this could be done without making our politics not look like a WWE wrestling show though.

Masterful? You said it was buffoonery.

Yep. This is what I've been talking about. Trump is not a business as usual candidate. Maybe he's gonna take us to hell in a hand basket for the next four years. But he's going to bad enough, fast enough, that Americans will be FORCED to notice, FORCED to pay attention. Even Obama saying elections have consequences didn't get people's attention. Not really. And that's what we need. Engagement. Discussion. Skin in the game.

Now all we gotta do is get our news media on board with doing their jobs correctly.

Everyone in the entire damn country should be asking, "Why isn't Saudi Arabia on that list?"

Masterful? You said it was buffoonery.

I changed my mind after sleeping on it. I don't like the fact that the Judge is ultra-conservative and that the appointment was stolen from Obama, but that is a separate issue. The roll out itself was actually well done; it was masterful.

Right! And isn't it Calamity who just yesterday chided Trump's SCOTUS announcement as reality show theater? Now it's "masterful?"

Alas, alack, what has happened to our poor Calamity??

I'm conflicted there. First, I'd say this roll out was a bit more like the Bachelor or Dancing with the Stars than WWE. Trump was actually quite subdued last night, although he did lay it on pretty thick, as one would expect from a Carnival Barker. But, for all intents and purposes, it wasn't completely off the hook silly. It was actually pretty decent.

Second, and here is where the WWE part comes in, we need politics to be "entertainment" to get everyone engaged. The boring side of politics are fine for those of us who love nuance and can handle three-hour lectures on why the EPA water quality standards of x parts per billion are better than some company's proposed y parts per billion. But, the average person needs to be entertained during that discussion. Pols who can pull that off are geniuses. Bernie and Trump have been very successful in bringing millions of new people to the table. Ralph Nadar, OTOH, was not.

Bi-Polar, maybe?

He apparently "changed his mind".

As a true Centrist, I roll with change quite well. What at first looked ridiculous yesterday sometimes can look ingenious the day after.

I am appreciating the process. And, this guy knows how to play the entertainment game. That he was able to marry reality show skills to political aspirations is worthy of compliment, even if I do disagree with most of what he is doing. It's going to be a very windsock-like few years for me, I imagine.

He can switch between reality TV and wrestling all he wants. They are both fake. One's just that much more exaggerated and outlandish.

I get what you're saying but there's a substantial part of me wondering if we really want the "I like politics! It's just like the bachelor!" type people that engaged. Of course you can't stop someone from playing that angle, but I'm not sure it's what's best for the country. I'm conflicted.

No question. One part of me hates it; the other loves it. But, let's just look at this one incident.

Trump makes a big hoopla event out of the appointment. He then says some nice things about the guy, quite a few nice things actually. Next he brings the guy up on stage with his wife. Suddenly a huge chunk of America has an image of this guy that is favorable. And, more importantly, the guy's funny name suddenly becomes a household word. Gorsuch, we all know now how it pronounced and what they guy looks like, and we know he has a wife who looks like someone we see everyday at the grocery store, church or PTA.

Compare that to what Obama did. How many people even knew Garland by name? How many really knew that the Senate stiff armed him? How many even cared if they knew? I look at that and say, "Obama Fail; Trump Win."

The Carny wrestled away the only D narrative, "Obama's stolen pick." If they try that, the people will not see it that way. Why? Because they saw Gorsuch and know now without question that he is Trump's pick. The narrative becomes, "Obama who?"

Masterful. Trump wins big on the SCOTUS thing.

Just wait for the new individual tax rate: "Today I'm revealing the new individual tax rate. Are you ready for it? ARE YOU READY FOR IT? Envelope, please, and cue the music. THE NEW TAX RATE WILL BE......rrrriiiiipppp........(pause for effect).............17%! That's right, 17%. Is that great or what? I know, I know. Ya know, we talked about it, and 20% was floated. I said, "We have to do better. I'm leaning toward 15%." So we talked. We came up with 17% - a good number. I like 17. (Lone Bernie supporter in the back yells, "Should be free!"). Yeah. Get him outta here. That's right - just take him on out. This is the stuff we have to deal with here. Are you tired of it? I know I am. Loser. We're all about winning here. 17!

If good rest led to your overnight epiphany regarding the nomination of Gorsuch, then may you continue to sleep well! I agree President Trump brings an unprecedented 'entertainment factor' to the world political stage. Hopefully, his election results in a catalyst for positive change. I strongly oppose President Trump and applaud what you bring to the debate. I do not trust President Trump's dedication to serving the best interests of Americans and the betterment of the Universe.
Slowly, by remaining true to ourselves, our belief systems and participating in the process, we can replace this Trump Phenomena with a more graceful, visionary, honest and caring leadership team. Please soldier on Calamity!

It wasn't stolen, Obama and the Dem's lost the power to have their way, they only people they have to blame are themselves.
