I figured this was coming. I'm just surprised they are keeping it on the down-low.

White House Staying Mum on Rumors of Anti-LGBT Exec Order | Advocate.com

Rumors are floating that President Trump will rescind President Obama’s executive order banning anti-LGBT discrimination by companies that hold contracts with the federal government and perhaps put a “religious freedom” order in place.

At today’s press briefing, White House press secretary Sean Spicer refused to discuss the matter when Washington Blade reporter Chris Johnson brought it up.

Ha....and it's the liberals bitching about "fake news?"

Zero credibility here, but hey...it's negative about Trump, and it's been...what...a whole 30 minutes since Calamity's last "I Hate Trump" post.

I would be pretty surprised if went here but there has to be concern that he does not care enough about this subject in any way to prevent him from rolling back protections on gays in the workplace in order to get something that he does want, presumably from Congressional R's.

Still, no more than 20% chance.

Maybe "no one has even mentioned this in passing, so what side am I supposed to take?"

Can you read?

Yes, and I said that he may have gotten blindsided by the question, because in all these weeks behind the curtain no one has been talking about gay rights, because Trump does not care one way or the other very much.

It sure wouldn't surprise me if he did.

Unammed sources. Rumors.

Not enough to go on. And you also have to consider that Trump isn't really anti-LGBT.

Pence and the rest of the crowd is though.

But Pence isn't gonna be the one signing EO's.

Eventually Trump is going to need the Republicans in Congress. I would bet that there's some Republicans in Congress that are fairly PO'ed that Trump has been bypassing them and blindsiding them with all these EO's and appointing Bannon to the Security Council.

So I wouldn't doubt that he would sign something like this to appease them.

You may be right about that. We'll just have to wait and see.

It's definitely a thorny issue within the GOP ranks.

That top officials have been debating whether to wade into the issue of gay and transgender rights highlights the tension the new administration faces when it comes to social issues. Trump campaigned on an economic message, but he is under pressure from the social conservatives who propelled him into office to implement their top priorities.

Like all things Trump says, the devil is in the unsaid details.

There are still concerns that Trump could carry out such a move, similar to what has been passed in states. Such a policy would allow federal employees, for example, to cite their religion and refuse to serve LGBTQ people, or allow programs ― such as adoption agencies ― that receive federal funding to turn away individuals on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Trump’s statement Tuesday did not rule out this sort of order.
