Trump to announce SC pick on Tuesday

The part about Trump being forced to pick from that list is a mischaracterization. He sought input, received input, and is choosing from a list of candidates that he feels comfortable with. To suggest that he is only doing this because he somehow "has to" is not accurate.

It is completely accurate. You just don't want to admit it. If he did not pick from that list, they would not be confirmed. Since he did pick from their list, they now know they own him.

Are you really trying to suggest that Trump is not comfortable with his nominee?

This is getting into conspiracy theory territory.

He clearly is comfortable doing what he has been told. An opportunity the GOP leadership will use to their advantage. Washington has not been and will not be taken back "by the people".

I love the narrative that Trump is somehow controlled by powerful, behind the scenes forces. It sounds all dark and spooky and stuff.

You don't think politicians negotiate policies and nominations behind closed doors...?

Really?

Is there a difference between "negotiate" and "controlled by" that you don't understand? I think there must be in order for you to ask me what you just did.

Often the outcome of a negotiation is that the two parties agree to have a measure of control over one another.

Backpacker was insinuating that Trump is controlled from behind the scenes. Nothing at all to do with negotiating.
