Trump Needs to Release Tax Returns

Because it's illegal for foreign governments to buy favors from government officials. But, during Hillary Clinton's time at the state department the Saudi's could get away with it by funneling the money through the Clinton Foundation.

Fact-checking donations to the Clinton Foundation | PolitiFact

Saudi Arabia shows up as having given between $10 million and $25 million since the foundation started.

If they gave that money directly to Clinton, that is illegal and they would've had a field day at the press.

But, they run it through the Foundation and then you get:

Clinton Foundation Donors Got Weapons Deals From Hillary Clinton's State Department

And when the money was given to the Clinton Foundation, what was it used for?

What steps should we take to make sure WHAT doesn't happen again? That we elect a very wealthy man as POTUS? That the only people we should be able to elect are already IN gvmt working for W2's? Seriously, that WHAT doesn't happen again? That we elect entrepreneurs, those whom our country was founded upon?

This focus on Trump's assets is a red herring in the Left's constant effort to destroy him. The fact that he has office space and people actually, wait for it, rent SPACE from those buildings is somehow proof that he can be bought? That he's being bought? He's not allowed to earn a living in real estate?

Where has this outrage been in our history? How rich do you think JFK was? He was worth $1 billion. His wealth was attributable to his dad's financial empire. Read BANKS. The Clintons' net worth is estimated to be $75 million. I'm betting that's conservative. George washingtons estate was worth $500 million in adjusted dollars. He made his money in real estate and commodities speculation. OMG!! Hoover made his millions in the mining industry. DOUBLE OMG!

There are many more multi-millionaires who held the office of the presidency...they were not pilloried for their success. They were elected, they served, then quietly retired back into their civilian life. What has changed? Ask yourself that.

In the meantime, here's the link this information came from. The 10 Richest U.S. Presidents - 24/7 Wall St.

If Twitter existed in the JFK days, his opposition would have taken full opportunity to scrutinize him to death. Can you imagine the Marilyn Monroe memes??? Besides his personal life, his opposition wouldn't pause for breath dashing through his family's financiers. I don't want captains of industry involved in my executive, legislative, or judicial branch at all. I want a man of the people who believes in strong labor unions. Whatever put the Supreme Court Justices where they are, so they can decide corporations have personhood and rule they way they did on Citizen's United - Needs to be scrubbed from every inch of America.

We cannot have a president who governs based on his bottom line. It's not hard to see that Trump's potential for corruption is staggering. How can we hold him accountable? How can we know if he tells the Chinese government, you can have your man-made islands in the South China Sea, but the lease in my Tower just went up to 5 million. Given Trump's bombast it's a real possibility.

If we take cautionary measures to weed out candidates who have conflicts of interest during the primary process perhaps we can prevent Donald Trump Jr. From picking up where his dad leaves off.

I don't know. Another closet of pantsuits or, a church for the poor? I don't know. They're no Jimmy Carter though, those Clintons.

So for all you know - that money went for good things as advertised?

Wow, Winston. I don't know. Does he? I heard a rumor that YOU owe Russian Oligarchs millions. Is that true? You'll probably say no, so show me your income tax return so I can check it out. Oh, wait! An income tax return won't show that. Okay then. PROVE you don't owe Russian Oligarchs millions. I'll wait.

You're so cute. ;)

You forget that Trump IS hiding something in those tax returns or he would have no problem keeping his promise to release them. The only question is what is so embarrassing or so conflicting that it would end his Presidency if they were released.

Then pass laws that no one can go from private industry into the presidency. No entrepreneurs allowed. Amend the Constitution that they cannot have personal investments, must have worked for the gvmt for 25 years, that their income come solely from w-2s and that they have no stock and bond or real estate investments in their portfolios. Then you will have "a man of the people."

Good luck with that.

When did he promise? Didn't he say he would release them when his audit was over? And now that he's president, why should he release them at all? Want 'em? Contact your congressman and ask him to introduce a bill making it a requirement. Or, more likely, it would take a Constitutional Amendment.

Go for it!

Yeah, I don't know what happened to the money. But, as Hillary has fallen out of favor with the government types.. this happened:

Clinton Global Initiative lays off 22 as donations dry up, will shut down in April - Washington Times

I do not argue with those who claim the Clintons are very handsomely compensated for their work with the foundation. And I think they have gotten rich as part of their involvement.

However, having said that, the foundation does much good work and spends their money on many needy areas.

No, no, no, we don't want to create a bureaucracy. What we want is for people's hearts to be in the right place. If you dedicate your life to public service, it should be to serve the public. not to serve the special interests, your pocketbook, and stiff the general populace. That's why transparency is of such value. Look, if you come from the private sector and you have no dealing with the Chinese Government, great no problem at all. If you have stock in say, Monsanto, you should be required to divest. Because you may appoint people to positions that favor Big Agra among other things within your power. But, if we have no public record of financial dealings then how do we know what's really going on?

I don't do witch hunts. You want to do a witch hunt? I'm not handing you matches. What DOES that make me, Iguanaman? Fair?

Interesting. I'm sure a lot of it was blown out of proportion. Mrs. Clinton underwent a massive coordinated attack to assassinate her character. There's a lot that was true. There was a lot that was bs. But, I'll peruse that and see. I'm glad that they do some good in the world. If you have power of name and power of bank, by all means try and help the poor, fight hunger, fight disease. Be the Mother Theresa. That's awesome!

Shouldn't we have a special office to enforce what you're saying? Don't we? Winston, Congress does not agree with you. If they did, we would have legislation in place to make such disclosures mandatory just exactly how the 90+ page financial disclosure Trump DID fill out are required.

Trump complied with what is required by law. I commend him for that. However, the press is going to go after his conflicts of interest. They are a relentless bunch. All I'm saying is that during the primary process, why not silence the press, and say BAM! Look at that! No Russian connection. No investments in Energy Transfer Partners. No, Chinese hoax. It's easy as that.

Maybe he is clean as a whistle and he just doesn't want the world to know he's not as rich as he says he is. During the Comedy Central Roast, Trump prohibited Roasters from making jokes about his personal wealth.

When pressed to release his tax returns, Bernie Sanders had no problem.

Because he is a man who has the integrity to keep his word.

Lol, Bern is a pauper compared to Trump. There is no compelling reason for Trump to open himself up to left wing idiocy. Settle in and get over it, it's gonna be a looooong four years until LWNJs get another shot at the title. Shouldn't you be grooming some likely candidates besides Hillary? Or are you going to run that nag again? Please please please please please.

In the interest of the American people, Trump must release his tax returns.

If he has nothing to hide, he has nothing to fear.

Just like the justification used to implement stop-and-frisk. Trump must be frisked for possible conflicts of interest with Russia, among others.

Nothing to hide, nothing to fear, before he does any more self-dealing, you owe it to the American people, who you now serve, Mr. Trump.

Donald waged a campaign over Obama's birth certificate; Tit for tat, we need to have our concerns put to rest. If Trump cared about the image of the Office and the American people he would cheerfully release them. If he were interested in healing the wounds of division inflicted by Democrats he would proudly stand up and say "see, I have nothing to hide."

That move would show he is better, has more character than the Dems, but he won't.

That fact is he cares not a wit about any of that; he's more concerned for avenging the perceived wrongs done him and chasing down those pesky fraudulent voters.

I sincerely admire your idealism, Winston. Really. So if I may...

What would Americans think if they saw not one charitable donation on his personal return? That's very possible. But what would the American people say? When I was self-employed, every single charitable donation I made was through my corporation's tax return. So when Trump handily explained THAT, the press would clamor for his business returns. How many business tax returns does he file? I have absolutely no idea. But I am confident that the press would pick apart any returns he surrendered and demonize him. That's just a small rather easily understood example of why releasing complicated tax returns is risky. Why should he do that if he's not required to do so? I don't blame him in the least.

Oh, and one more thing? I have significant assets. If you looked at my income tax return, they wouldn't tell you what they were. Not by a long shot. This is all about wanting a candidate's in private business to give you a club with which to hit you over the head.

But anyhow, we can argue about it all we'd like. He's not going to do it.

There is a huge compelling reason.

The issue of conflict and lining his own and his friends' pockets needs to be put to rest. Trump ****ing nagged Obama to the point of nausea over a ****ing birth certificate which made no difference. This is far more important. The taxpayer needs to be assured his taxes don't end up in Trump and his cronies' pockets.

He has been so dishonest so far, we can only assume he's cheating on his taxes and intends to rip off the American people for a few more billion and walk away laughing saying "I never took a salary"

If he doesn't we'll know how crooked he is.

Nah, he has no compelling reason, you and your ilk will paint him as crooked no matter what.

You and your ilk?

Not even a veneer of an attempt to hide your bigotry. Yeah the left will brand his as a crook...as was the case with Hilary...the shoe fits.

Have a bigoted day.

We won't speak again any time soon

You obviously don't know what the word "bigotry" means, or are just simply being a contrarian. Not sure what happened to you, but you have definitely slipped down the rabbit hole FAL. You won't be missed.....buh-bye. :2wave:

Ummm.... :thinking

Nah! 🇳🇴

He's the duly elected President of the United States.

So unless he dies or gets impeached? You have four more years and then you can express your displeasure by voting for someone else come next election.

All people like you want to see is that if there is some way you can twist his personal income history (earned as a private citizen) to change this.

Meanwhile? It's only been nine days, and despite all the whining and complaining...all he has been trying to do so far is keep most of his election promises. 🤷

Strange how people are getting so upset about that. :coffeepap:
now that some time has passed in this really, really old thread would you like to change your mind about candidates voluntarily releasing their tax returns to the public?

No, he doesn't.

There is no Constitutional reason to do so and it's all personal information. Aside from that, most people would have no idea what they were looking at if they did see his return. The result of that would be more stupid crap like the "he lost a billion dollars" stuff when 2 pages of his NJ return got posted.
It is about being honest and being someone who is transparent and has nothing to hide.

Trump, as we have seen has a lot to hide.

And the slack jawed drooling rubes that make up his cult don't care, because.....cult.
