Wall is already almost 1/3 done in Trump's first week

My problem with the wall is the cost and the fact it will do little good. Waste of both time and money. Even where the wall is in place people cross by going over it and others tunnel under it. LIke I said, a wasste of time and especially money that could be used other places.

your problem should be that illegals are returning home in record numbers. this is an issue trump created for the ignorant right.

So I have to ask...if people disagree with the wall...I'm assuming they think we should just let everyone in? All are welcome? No restrictions?

Well there are a lot more reasons why liberals suck than that, {LAFF} but where were the protests? The pontifications? Where was the resistance? Principles are principles. We should be building bridges not walls, right?
{GUFFAW]

I read NYT, WSJ, Foxnews, and some more leftist ezines. Nobody was making a fuss about it and that includes conservatives.

If there's any hypocrisy here, it's in your post (or at least, whatever portions you claim were not the "facetious" ones). As I said: "Liberals suck because Obama continued building a wall ordered by legislation Bush signed, and Obama sucks because the wall Bush's legislation demanded was a crappy one?". That's the first two layers.

Here's another two: (3) a common refrain against Obama was that he was ruling by executive fiat and not enforcing immigration laws, but you are now trying to say something negative about the left based on Obama enforcing an immigration law, (4) you didn't know about this nor did you give a **** about it until you saw this article, but you are accusing the left of being hypocrites for not knowing about or giving a **** about it at the time.

If I had a hankering for crystal balls, I'd probably post a fifth what-if layer, namely, and what exactly would you or "conservatives" be expected to say had Obama refused to enforce the wall-building law that Bush signed? Hooray for liberals standing up for principles! Right. My ***.

In reality, it'd be stuff along the lines of "DICTATOR! RULE BY FIAT" Blah blah blah.

Nevermind that that is something said about Obama based on executive orders - something not being said by the same people about Trump's flurry of executive orders.

I'd rethink the whole "liberals are hypocrites" angle of your thread.

Opposing Trump's wall, or even Bush's wall, doesn't mean one thinks "we should just let everyone in". That's a dishonest straw argument if I ever saw one.

Any border security should be about the type of drug and gun smuggling - both ways - that benefits violent cartels. Walls and deportation cannot address illegal immigration in a meaningful way.

If people really cared that much, we'd have draconian laws aimed at employers of illegals backed up by real enforcement: execs facing criminal charges and civil fines big enough to bankrupt the business. If they cannot find work they will not come in number.

That won't happen. Announcing the policy does not provide nearly the same level of positive optics as when one's face turns from orange to red while shouting about Mexican rapists. And once the policy is in effect, you're talking about putting American businesses and their employees out of a job, and some in jail. That has even worse optics. But it's what you need to do if you wish to "starve the beast" as it were.

People really need to start understanding that even though Trump wasn't a politician before, he gives just as little of as **** about them as do "D.C. Elites" (the same Elites he's surrounded with now, interestingly enough).

Is the Donald Wall going to be different, maybe a 100ft high, machine guns, high voltage, mine fields, dead women and children laying around as an example?

It's going to be bigley!

I agree, but you do understand how many businesses use illegal labor though correct? I'm not saying that we shouldn't have enforcement. What I'm saying is that that is as daunting a task as the wall. And the reality is that the demand will always be there. Employees are expensive.

I was never under his spell. I have always found that big government and big business are the same. Corrupt. Maybe not by the nature of the individuals, but once a bureaucracy gets so large that it cannot really control itself?

Yeah, amazing isn't it. Obama bragged about the fence being completed in 2011 and about the construction of the wall. He also bragged about deporting more illegals than any President prior to him. (And he also stopped immigration from Iraq for awhile.) Yet no one seems to complain about his xenophobia, racism, or Hitleresque policies. Just don't understand how people think.

(And don't get me started on how many Muslims he has killed with drones and how many terrorists he help recruit because of his policies.)
