Worst Inaugural Speech in History

It was 16 minutes long. I liked that. I think a 3 minute speech would be sufficient. I'd really rather these guys - all of 'em - just shut up and get to work.

All it needed was a Sieg Heil or two.

George has been let go by Fox. I suspect his outspoken criticism of Trump could be the reason. But I agree with him about Trump's inaugural address. It was really negative and not uplifting at all.

So Megyn Kelly must've gotten along great with Trump for them to offer her so much money, huh?

All it needed was a Sieg Heil or two.

The booing of Hillary and Schumer were special.

Kind of like "YOU LIE".

Imagine the outrage if a Democrat does that to dear leader .

I know you like it. It's the rest of us who see it as a nutty rant by Archie Bunker's favorite nephew.
You don't support power to the people?

All it needed was a Sieg Heil or two.

Jesus. Enough of the Nazi references already. Anyone who links any American politician to Nazis just proves how ignorant they are of what Nazis really were.

Yours is the worst OP ever made on this website and this will be the worst thread in the history of the internet. I'm using the same amount of evidence as George Will is using to judge Trump. And that would be none.

How would you know it's the worst thread on this website if you just joined this month and have 39 posts?

Posting everything anti-Democrat is not known as moderate on this site.

George Will called out Nixon for his treason DURING the 1968 election.

trump's Nationalist message has moderates remembering a similar speech 83 years ago .

So you don't like people repeating trump's awe of Mussolini ?

NIMBY I am afraid you might be too far gone to have a rational discussion with at this point. I like you, but damn dude, snap out of it.

Most moderate, centrist and independent folks are comparing it to a 1933 speech.

The markets did not react favorably to trump's nationalist, isolationist message.

I thought the GOP was the 'patriot' party .

His speech made my leg tingle. One of the best ever delivered. Its a shame all the bigots were to absorbed in their hate and loathing to appriciate it

So you don't know of trump's awe of Mussolini.

When are trumposters going to admit even his first blatant irrational lie ?

lol...I think the Trumpians' buddy Adolf used that same "power to the people" angle. He just called them Volk.

Not ignorant, the word you are looking for is apt.

What makes the comparison between Hitler and Trump so poignant is not just the rhetorical marginalization of groups, lifestyles or beliefs, but the fact that both men represent their personal character as the antidote to all social and political problems.

Just How Similar Is Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler?

Thanks for reading and agreeing with George Will.
Suspect that Trump got what he wanted from it-people talking about it.

Your side is holding its breath every time he tweets as to how it will hurt republicans.

The rest of us are holding our breath every time trump tweets as to how it will hurt all Americans and indeed the whole planet .

Why do you presume to speak for everyone other than (apparently) jamesrage?

I found his speech to be acceptable. Others in this forum have also.

So "by the rest of us" you mean?

A. EVERYONE who didn't vote for him, or

B. EVERYONE who actually voted that voted for someone else, or

C. Everyone who voted for Hillary, or

D. The loud and angry SJW's and the MSM, or

E. You and your personal alter-egos (i.e. me, myself, and I), or

F. Other.

You seem to forget he did get over 62 million votes. I'm sure some of those people also thought it was a good speech. :coffeepap:

Actually, just like some of his tweets that to me are cringe worthy, his inauguration speech did bother me just by being so different than any inauguration speech anybody has ever given. I kept wanting him to soften it a bit and could just see what the headlines were going to be yesterday evening or this morning. That's what I was thinking even as I couldn't fault him on a single point.

And then I reminded myself. He handily defeated sixteen very well funded and well known establishment Republicans in the primaries--something almost nobody expected him to do. He beat a very well funded and presumptive queen bee who was simply awaiting her coronation when none of the experts or pollsters or odds makers gave him any kind of chance.

He did that by tapping into the frustrations, hopes, and ambitions of 62 million people who were sick and tired of the status quo and politicians on both sides of the aisle who used it for their own advantage. And he did it by not doing anything like anybody else does it.

So why in the world should I expect his inauguration speech to be status quo? Or something that George Will, who hated him, would approve?

He has gotten where he is by Trump being Trump. And I want to scream at the media pundits who keep saying, "what he has to do now is. . . ." when they have ALL been entirely wrong all the way. God help us if he ever listens to what they think he has to do.

He and Melania danced to "I Did It My Way" at all three of the inaugural balls they attended.

He needs to keep doing just that.

My side? What is my side? You realize that Trump is only nominally a Republican, right?
His speech basically harkened back to the Constitution. You know "We the People.........."
I will judge him on his actions and his impact, not on his tweets. But then I don't follow any social media except DP.

Of course he thinks so, when did anyone think George Will was ever going to support The Rebellion?

Great post, I wish I could give you two thumps up on that one, Friend.

Meh. Don't really care what they say. I'm more interested in what they do. I've listened to soaring speeches by political pooh-bas for a long time now. If everything they said had actually came to pass why, we'd be in a whole different world now.

Okay you seemed to have missed the joke. Not your fault. You don't know me and can't hear the tone I was thinking in.

It wasn't a feel-good speech. It wasn't philosophical, grand, or meant to evoke historical ties. I believe it was meant to send a clear message to the establishment and other countries that Trump means business and there are going to be some major changes. It also addressed unification of the country (I like the line about us all bleeding the same red). From that standpoint, IMO the speech was appropriate and effective.
