Well, the time has now come. In order to survive the next 4 years, we must not view things as every man for himself. We must work together to preserve the very fundamental principles of democracy that have been in place for centuries.

If you have any muslim neighbors, LGBT neighbors, neighbors of color, or feminist neighbors, you must keep an eye on them. It's no longer a given that everyone will have equal protection under the law. We can all stop the nefarious alt right agenda at the local level. That is essentially what Obama's call for citizens are on his farewell address.

You are not powerless.

:inandout:

I have noticed that it is only ever liberals that use the phrase "we must look out for each other".

I guess you can fight back by not allowing your little piece of America to "Become Great Again".

The right wing version of that is "We gotta take ourr cuutry back1111!!1!!"

Or one from the past... "We ur the morul majoritie!!111!!!"

AA might be over the top there. But my little piece of America was great, is great and will continue to be great. Ain't squat Donald can do about it. My wife on the other hand....

Wow. Unbelievable. We now live in Crazy Town.

That's a startling admission.
You should consider the possibility that your observation may have more to do with the people you choose to surround yourself with (and their feelings toward you) than their political persuasion(s).

I suppose, but the phrase "we must look out for each other" sounds so lame by comparison. The phrase we will take our country back is a battle cry, but the phrase "we must look out for each other" is a phrase that sounds like it is being used by a group of sissies that can't fight.

This is exactly what I'm tired of, if you don't like Obama's policies... You know Liberalism, Socialism, and lastly Communism. I married into a mixed family, my sister in law, niece and nephew. I love them all but the nephew is a bit of a trouble maker. My niece I can only hope my children are as perfect as she is. Having said that anytime I object to Obama's agenda I'm instantly labeled a racist. Stop using race and scare tactics to persuade people you're only dividing us. Maybe that's want you want

We should always be aware and on alert of government over-reach and whittling away of rights....not just when our political party isn't in the Oval Office.

Well, you think that Obama is a communist, which rather suggests that you don't exactly know what you are talking about.

When I grew up in redneck southern georgia that's what they'd say all the time. "Look out for you and yours." It's a defensive posture.

Something REALLY weird happened to me today.

I had one of my employees in my office today signing some affidavits in front of me so I could notarize them.

Seriously, he is the best worker I got and he has the vibe of a gentle teddy bear. He just emits comfort. Polite. Manners. Most efficient. Low maintenance. He has it all. He can get in to doors that none of my other servers can.

Today he sat in front of my desk and quietly asked me, "Do you think that me and my family will be alright?" He said, "My children are scared for their lives. They are as American as you are. They were born here, raised here. All they know is America. They are no different than most all the other American kids running around. They are afraid."

You see, my employee is from Great Britain. An immigrant. Born and raised in London. Came to America to study and eventually live. He still has a very distinct British accent even after living here for almost 20 years.

He said, "I have brown skin, a middle-eastern name and I was raised in a Muslim family."

It was so sad. He was so sincere. I could see the worry in his eyes.

He said, "I just renewed my British passport. We just don't know how this thing is going to go. My family is afraid."

I did my best to comfort him telling him it was just a brutal election year and with the help of the media, one particular candidate played the race/nationality/religion hate card only to appeal to the lowest denominator in/across Trashville, U.S.A. and it was only to muster up votes. I assured him that after politicians get elected, they will forget about all that "divide and conquer" **** they used to get elected.

I pointed out to him that some politicians run again legal abortions. But as soon as they get elected, they stop talking about it. I explained to him the political practice of using wedge issues. I did tell him that there surely are haters out there that would just as soon see him, and his brown skin, and his British accent, and his traditional Islam religion, on a rubber raft floating back to England.

But I also told him that, though their whiny voices do shriek, on the whole, their numbers are few. Even the few that they are, they are just all talk. Stupid blowhards. I said, "No one is going to hurt you and your family. You should be just as comfortable today as you were before our nation's current political crisis. There are no more Islamophobes today than there were 5 years ago." I told him the media is just blowing things up, out of proportion, because hate sells."

I did my best to reassure and comfort him. But when he left my office, he left with the same concern and sadness in his eyes as he had when he walked in.

Thanks you ****ing Trumptards. This man is a GOOD man. Your ilk has him frightened out of his skin.

I'd rather have this brown skinned, English speaking, Islamic man living next door to me than any Trumptard I know.

Shame on you people.

What makes you think I haven't been keeping an eye on my Black, Gay, Muslim, Illegal Alien, Feminist, Climate freak of a neighbor? If I'm going to keep an eye on anyone in the neighborhood it's be that one.....and the hot chick down the street.

I'd have to question whether it's the Trump supporters or the left wingers freak out fantasies that are doing more harm.

I seem to remember 8 years ago that a whole lot of lefties were complaining that the right wing was hyperventilating about everything Obama was going to do. This Trump fear stuff is no different than that was.

Shame on yourself, it is you and your ilk that have frightened this poor man. You should be ashamed. But, like most libs, you have no shame, and will blame it on someone else.

This. I have built a damn good life for myself and my family on my little piece of America.

Wow. Unbelievable. We now live in Crazy Town.

Pretty much how I feel when three cabinet nominees admit to violating the law and it doesn't even register with Trump's supporters. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

Seriously, who admitted to violating the law? And for what?

Another one denying the ACTUAL words of trump before the election and the nationwide harm they have done .
