Interesting piece on the state of the DNC

All I can say is whatever winning strategy the leftists developed over the last few years, keep it up.

...AND platitudes.

(they always forget the platitudes)
Again, there you are...all you heard was "bathrooms and platitudes".

Was that addition supposed to make yer argument appear more reasonable and rational?

Democrats in the Wilderness - POLITICO Magazine

"What’s clear from interviews with several dozen top Democratic politicians and operatives at all levels, however, is that there is no comeback strategy—just a collection of half-formed ideas, all of them challenged by reality. And for whatever scheme they come up with, Democrats don’t even have a flag-carrier. Barack Obama? He doesn’t want the job. Hillary Clinton? Too damaged. Bernie Sanders? Too socialist. Joe Biden? Too tied to Obama. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer? Too Washington. Elizabeth Warren? Maybe. And all of them old, old, old."

A quote from one of my favorite movies, MILLER'S CROSSING:

Leo: "Jesus, Tom, you make it sound like it's a bad break for me I wasn't killed."

But don't you just love it !!!

Whut?

The economy was front and center throughout the campaign, it was economic inequality....and the Dump made promises to angry rural whites he has no intention of keeping.

Economic inequality-people that choose not to go to college or learn any marketable skills get stuck working minimum wages jobs get mad because they can't support a family and claim it's not fair because "the American Dream".

Democrats Are Lying About How Screwed They Are
The Democratic Party is sabotaging itself by falling victim to the narrative that inefficiency and corruption are the only traits defining their opponents

The Democratic Party remains in complete denial. They not only lost the presidency and failed to recoup majorities in both houses of Congress but, over the last eight years, Republican control of state legislatures has reached the greatest point since the Civil War. Thirty-two state legislatures and 33 governorships are held by Republicans, with 17 states holding Republican veto-proof majorities in their state legislatures. And, what’s worse: despite Republicans becoming close enough to attempt a Constitutional Convention—enabling them to amend the constitution—Democrats are pretending they have everything under control.

The Democratic Party has used Donald Trump’s cabinet appointments to manufacture outrage and rally support, but Democrats fail to recognize that their efforts are futile. In addition to a rule change made in 2013 by Democrats—which prevents them from filibustering any of Trump’s appointments—and not having enough votes to oppose any of their confirmations, the Democratic losses have, across the board, been self-inflicted.

“The GOP is sabotaging itself by confirming weak Cabinet nominees like Betsy DeVos,” read a headline by pro-Clinton Vox, propagating the narrative that the Democrats have everything under control because Republicans will do the losing for them. In fact, it is the Democratic Party that is sabotaging itself, by falling victim to the false narrative that inefficiency and corruption are the only traits defining their opponents. Such terms would suit the slogan of the Democratic Party for the past eight years.

LOL...so you decided to post an article...that has no validity...in your view.

Well done.

No, I posted an article that I thought was interesting and an insiteful take on what the DNC is facing. I would say the DNC is in a somewhat worse spot than the RNC was given their catastrophic losses at the state level and the fact that the coming midterm is not favorable for them unlike 2010 looked for Republicans.

I'm just saying I'm not counting them out because I have seen turn arounds before.

Thinks that the declines in wage/income gains only affected the lower quintile.

How quaint.

True. This piece is much like the doom and gloom pieces written about Republicans in 2009.
Exactly, though I think the Repubs are in a stronger place structurally - especially in many Congressional Districts.

You compared it to other articles....that turned out to be wrong. I know irony is a tough concept...but cmon.

You are right. It took over two months but the Left is finally getting some grip.

Just my opinion but the Dems seem to place WAY too much emphasis on wedge issues. It's like building a house on sand.

Equality sounds great and everything but at the end of the day people are more worried about getting a better life for THEMSELVES than they are about whether or not "Johnny" can take a leak in the woman's can because he feels like a woman.
End thread.

What I can say is that Dubya ran the government into the ground which paved the way for Obama. Trump isn't picking the same swamp monsters from the Bush administration so the bumbling incompence shouldn't be repeated.
All I can say Renoe, is we shall see.

I can't perfectly predict Trump, but I can predict Americans get sick of their government and always want to throw the bums out. It will be hard for Trump to go against that, because he's already strikingly unpopular. He might be able to turn it around, but that remains to be seen.

True. This piece is much like the doom and gloom pieces written about Republicans in 2009.

There is a big difference.....the doom and gloom on the R pieces where mostly claims that the enemy is almost vanguished because they failed to keep track of where America is, the doom and gloom on the D pieces we see now are of the flavor "the right way is getting lost because our team has failed to do the job".

Before was cheering, now is moping.

Again, there you are...all you heard was "bathrooms and platitudes".

Was that addition supposed to make yer argument appear more reasonable and rational?

No, I SAID bathrooms and platitudes. More specifically, I SAID "wedge issues" and platitudes and then later referenced bathrooms as an example of a wedge issue. You keep trying to dance away from that part, hmmm...

Whatever.

The point remains. The "economic plan" that Hillary campaigned on was no different than the economic plan that Obama already had in play. Sure, she dressed it up with talk of "fairness" but does anyone in their right mind believe that someone who gives $250,000 speeches to the largest banks in the world really gives a **** about "fairness"? Who did she think she was kidding?

Face it, the bulk of her campaign was about demonizing the opposition. It was race card, bigot card, deplorable card, and, oh yeah... "I'm With Her".

How she ever lost is a mystery that will baffle historians for generations!

If Trump fails the Democrats have to be perceived as having no part in that failure. They have to be able to stand there and be convincing when they say "It wasn't me!". If they take some kind of action to undermine Trump they'll only turn more independents away from the party.
Well, that's what seemingly occurred in 2012: Obama had struggles, but enough of the electorate perceived he inherited a mess with an uncooperative Congress.

So to quote Joe Pesci, in 'My Cousin Vinny':

"Does your theory hold water?" "Yes, I think it does!"

At the end of the day what is happening is that TRUMP is going to sit his rather large RUMP in the POTUS chair with the opposition party that is completely flummoxed, and if reports are right with broad agreement between Trump and the Congressional R's on how to run the table on them.

Things are about to get really sad for the delusional Left if this is right.

The Dems are done for. Toast. Hillary got creamed.

Dems who decried how the GOP would never win again were not very smart for saying so. The same goes for the inverse.

We will soon see how "screwed" the Dems are by not being able to stop any of Trumps picks. The funny thing about winning is that you then need to govern. There is a train wreck brewing and even the Trumpsters will feel the pain. Trumps picks make Bush's cabinet look smart. Good job Donny.

Ya, that is another difference between then and now.... R's are not claiming that D's are finished, R's are claiming that they are going to kick some D ass while the getting is good.

The R's are doing better at tracking with reality.

Not at all, I'll keep emphasizing all day long yer insistence that it was so much LARGER than anything else....BATHROOMS AND WEDGES AND PLATITUDES!!!

Whatever.
BATHROOMS AND WEDGES AND PLATITUDES!!!
The point remains. The "economic plan"......
WTF! You said:

"Hillary's economic message got TOTALLY drowned out by all the noise and rhetoric about "racist this" and "bigot that"."

....so how could you know WHAT her economic proposals were, especially with the BATHROOMS AND WEDGES AND PLATITUDES!!! mixed in?

Face it, the bulk of her campaign was about demonizing the opposition. It was race card, bigot card, deplorable card, and, oh yeah... "I'm With Her".
and...BATHROOMS AND WEDGES AND PLATITUDES!!!

No, it all explained by her focus on BATHROOMS AND WEDGES AND PLATITUDES!!!

Greetings, Hawkeye10. :2wave:

:agree: While there's nothing wrong with riding high on a victory for a while - especially one that few expected you to win - he now has to quickly begin the "governing" portion of being POTUS. That's the difficult part but most people seem to be willing to give him a minimum of the first 100 days of his term to show us what he can do, which is only fair. As can be expected, every time we elect a President, the entire world watches, and this one will doubtless be the most watched in history, IMO.

No one ever gets everything they want, including Trump, and that won't be an easy thing for him to deal with, IMO, but I have confidence that he won't be fooled in the business area of his job, and that's important. Millions of people are counting on him to somehow make it possible for everyone who wants a decent-paying job to be able to find one, and I hope he's successful! Maybe our crumbling infrastructure can finally be updated, too, among other things? Time will tell.....
