56 Years Ago Yesterday, Ike made this famous speech

Ike looks damn good compared to the right wing zealots who pass for republicans these days.

Eisenhower was the very last of the Great Republicans. Unfortunately for US, "capital" pretty much runs our system and our constitutional checks and balances are given the reigns over these wild black horses. For US it has become a double edge sword of - jobs, defense and policy: too big to fail.

Eisenhower knew very well the evil that exists in the M.I.C., he worked hand in hand with it all his adult life and made decisions for it. Time IS a bandit however and steals the wisdom of experience and replaces it with instant gratification. As a civilization, we are beholden to money: money is the beginning and end of all wars, and as long as we think that way, the MIC will lead US and continue to steal our potential.

Very well said.

BrOn page one, Jeff Bergner, an absolute RWN Blowhardn.

Left wing blowhard calls Jeff Bergner a right wing blowhard.
Now we're getting somewhere!

I find it interesting how everyone applauds Ike on his comments on the MIC, but seem to forget what he said about the dangers of politicized sciences.

They never mention Operation Wetback, either.
