The Debt And The Trump Agenda

The reason you only see 10 nuclear powered carriers listed on wikipedia is that wikipedia isn't up to date. Just recently the U.S.S. Enterprise was decommissioned soon to be replaced by the U.S.S. Gerald Ford of the new Gerald Ford class of nuclear powered carriers that will be replacing the Nimitz class over future years. The addition of the U.S.S. Gerald Ford soon to be commissioned will bring America's nuclear powered carriers number back to the number in commission as being 11.

If one wants to, you could interpret the police reigning in a mob on a street as civil war.
With today's technology a real war like the one approaching would not cost thousands of lives but millions and probably a few billions. Preventing just such war is one reason for the level of armaments we have and the expeditions you take for wars.

Dictionary dot com says the definition of "WAR" is as follows.

war1
[wawr]
Spell Syllables
Examples Word Origin

noun
1.
a conflict carried on by force of arms, as between nations or between parties within a nation; warfare, as by land, sea, or air.
2.
a state or period of armed hostility or active military operations:
The two nations were at war with each other.
3.
a contest carried on by force of arms, as in a series of battles or campaigns:
the War of 1812.
4.
armed fighting, as a science, profession, activity, or art; methods or principles of waging armed conflict:
War is the soldier's business.

Hmm... the Afghanistan war effort appears to be a war for[i/] drugs as we help to support a lot (90%?) of the world's opium (heroin?) production. There is no winning in sight yet there is also no apparent plan to exit the 15 year (so far) US military presence in that nation.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium_production_in_Afghanistan

Ironically enough, it was the Taliban -- who we chased out -- that nearly wiped out the opium trade in Afghanistan. The American invasion basically freed up those farmers to grow poppies again.

Despite that ridiculous turn of events, it seems pretty evident that the US didn't invade in order to foster illegal opiate production in Afghanistan. The US government also doesn't actually want to hook its citizens on opiates.

But that's a tale for another thread. The larger point is that we aren't having a rough time in Afghanistan because our strategies suck. It's because it is a very difficult nation for outsiders to control, particularly Western invaders. The regrowth of opium production is merely an indication of this.

If you want to puff the importance of smallish incidents up for some reason, we tend often to choose words that we associate with exceptional circumstances.

" the rest of the world combined has only two? The Chinese have one and the French have one." this is the part that I meant

I know a war when I see one!

20 trillion dollars in national debt and President soon to be Trump has set an agenda to cut the corporate tax back to 15-20 %, build a trillion dollar wall on our southern border, cut taxes across the board for all Americans, institute massive infrastructure spending and dedicate another trillion dollars to rebuilding our military.

Does anybody actually believe that any President and Congress can actually do that without bankrupting America?

Hes also promised to raise taxes and cut spending, so who knows what will actually happen? You dont.

Yes it is, but not so funny to see that conservatives no longer care about the debt and spending what we do not have.

It is pretty funny. You would think someone would break the cycle of hypocrisy at some point. Say, did you vote for either one?

Educate me! I'm not seeing what you're apparently seeing.

Its so nice to see liberals care about debt again, next they'll remember the Bush era anti-war sentiments they conveniently forgot when Obama was elected too.

Bingo. All while hoping the captain crashes the plane. I swear sometimes...I feel like we are all chimps on an aircraft and we take turns voting to have the zookeeper open someone's crate and take their turn flying.

Does anybody here know why America has 13 nuclear powered aircraft carriers while the rest of the world combined has only two? The Chinese have one and the French have one.

Aircraft carriers project power. We need them. They are slightly below nuclear weapons on the scale of deterrence. Perhaps we could downsize, but the fact is...those are really important to national security as well as the national security of smaller nations. Especially with the BS going on in China.

I must have missed it when he promised to "raise" taxes.

We shouldn't care about the debt because? How do you define "liberal?"

We need 11 because? Why aren't they simply sitting ducks considering today's modern weaponry?

I have and I'm apparently not seeing what you're seeing.

maybe your nurse can help you the list shows 19 countries with aircraft carriers including the US. The list is the very very first thing you see when you open the link

Nope, but voted in all the other races open to me.

The irony of caring about the debt now that a democrat isn't in office. False outrage.

Liberal...a leftist

Because of today's modern technology? The bubble? Tell you what...you want to make a **** ton of money? Figure out how to sink an aircraft carrier and sell the idea to the government. If I had that idea I wouldn't be talking to you. Lol. I'd be practicing jujitsu all day.

Do you really think defense spending is the problem?

I must have missed it when he promised to "raise" taxes.

You must have. He proposed to eliminate the personal exemption and head of household exemption, charity and several other deductions, cap deductions for itemizing. Also to implement tariffs (taxes) on goods.

Nope, but voted in all the other races open to me.

Good on ya then. Me neither. Dont you a lot of those blasting either side for debt matters/doesnt matter and their resulting hypocrisy still voted for their side though.
