Meryl Streep Quietly Shreds the King of Self Importance

There you go being dishonest again. He did not mock his disability.

iLOL
The person whining , claiming the other is. :lamo
Hilarious.

Still confused I see. Figures.
If you think he made fun of the reporter because he was disabled, or made fun of his disability, it is you who is engaged in cult behavior.

You and the conservative treehouse will be going through all kinds of twists and turns to defend the orange messiah for the next four years, eh?

The whole thing is silly, but Trump was right about one thing - Meryl Streep is one of the most over rated actresses out there.

I can't agree with that; Streep is a wonderfully talented actor. But this doesn't mean that she isn't cocooned in her own self-important and self-congratulatory little world. I smiled as I listened to her describe her industry as being "villifed" now.

Please. "We are all outsiders. Kick us out, and you'll have to watch football and martial arts, which are not the arts."

But she's right when she says, "We need the principled press to hold power to account." Let's get to work on recreating a principled press, one that doesn't alter 9-1-1 audio tapes and etc. CNN's dropping Brazile was a good start.

The videos show otherwise. What he did to Cruz is visibly not the same thing as he did to the reporter, and he's clearly shown movingg his hand/arm in a manner/position very close to how the reporter does.

Wrong as usual, making things up to believe and ignoring reality. Figures.
Kovaleski's right hand and arm are immobile and neither of his appendages spasm.

Apparently you have a problem, especially bringing the CTH into this.

Well what matters is the intent of Trump, not the way Trump haters pretended he intended like that idiot mother who has an autistic child who said Trump was hateful towards autistics which was complete Hillary campaign fecal material

I agree, intent matters. Do I think Trump was trying to stick it to disabled people? No. I don't think he gave it any thought at all. It was off the cuff. He is 70 and proudly doesn't care about political correctness. He grew up in a world where such mockery wasn't frowned upon. All he had to do was achknowledge that it hurt the feelings of many disabled people and apologize. Obama pissed me off when he made the Special Olympics comment. Rosie O'Donnell pissed me off when she took it upon herself to diagnose Trump's son with autism. I'm not partisan on this issue.

I don't think Streep was upset with the response. I think those who speaking out against Trump's tweets, myself included, do so because it's completely unprofessional for a President to act in this manner. There are far more requirements and expectations of tact and decorum for Head of State than an average citizen. I find Trump's tweets to, in general, be highly embarrassing to the Republic. As President, he has to take the high-road. Any citizen gets to complain for any reason. Sometimes those reasons are valid, sometimes not. But the President cannot be sitting around all day Tweeting responses to individuals in such a manner. He has to act like a President.

well to be fair, trump is the result when the parties no longer represent the people. Both parties had a revolution candidate. people are tired of the political insiders. To your point I agree. that said. these parties brought this **** on themselves, if not for the exposure of the democrat collusion and corruption, we would have a president-elect Sanders.

Eventually this will all shake out. and hopefully it's enough for the people to learn an important lesson.

You see though in these smug hollywood elitists, they are happy with the ruling class establishment and would support it's return. That's far more worrysome to me than trump tweets.

I am upset because she lied. I am upset because she was holding a life time achievement award in her hand but it wasn't important enough to make a comment about it.

The woman that introduced her said some really nice things about her, and all she did was stomp her feet and cry that Trump won.

Extremely low class.

I was disappointed that she didn't think to spend any time talking about how great Cecil B. DeMille was, and talk about the gigantic impact he made on her life and on movies in general. I share her opinion of Trump, but I'm smart enough to not use a forum like that to spew off about him. Streep didn't show a good side of herself last night IMO.

Hollywood stars reminding voters of why they voted for Trump.

Do keep it up, darlings.

Hollywood stars are like most creative people in their politics. But it's true, Streep reminded dolts why dolts voted for Trump. Others who voted for Trump had pause to reflect.

I watched the videos and its obvious that he was not trying to ape the reporter's disability. in the course of MOVING his arm, a STILL photograph could be MISINTERPRETED as being similar to the FROZEN position the reporter's arm is normally in, but MOVEMENT is the polar opposite of what that reporter's disability does to the reporter's arm
Well, the way I see it:

The fact that trump's pantomime is not a perfectly accurate physical depiction, does not necessarily mean it is not a slurring portrayal.

For example: There's little doubt below about Gene Wilder's portrayal here, as inaccurate as it is. The same might be said of blackface.

No, I meant that more in the tenor of arrogant elites being arrogant elites and displaying their contempt and hatred of ordinary Americans. If they could all go eff themselves right now it would be great. Eff themselves and celebrate their great accomplishment, which is the election of the GREAT ORANGE ONE. Yes, they did it, and it looks like they will be doing this sort of thing again and again, because they have learned nothing.

Wrong as usual.
He made fun of the person, not his disability.

This sort of justification takes a special kind of, uh, intellectual flexibility.

The problem is-Trump had done the same thing towards non-disabled individuals whose trait in common with the reporter was not a handicap but pissing back on prior comments. Under discrimination law, that would establish that the intent of Trump was motivated by what the people said

one of the reasons why you liberals got your asses handed to you in the election is due to this attitude. the pretense that smart people vote for Clinton was one of the symptoms that are part of the disease of arrogance that the left is full of. And its hilarious because while the elite of the left tend to be well educated and often intelligent (and manipulative and condescending), the majority of their followers are often dependent uneducated individuals who are dependent on government taking care of them. so when you add up both parties, its idiotic to say the left side of the aisle is smarter than the right or vice versa

heh, please. If she was praising Trump you guys would be lauding her. But anyone who dares to oppose the orange messiah is overrated. Starbucks, Streep, SNL, all the former presidents, etc.

Hell, in the mind of the Trump fanatics, Scott Baio is a great actor and a true patriot.
Heh, please. I don't know who "you guys" is supposed to be. I've thought Meryl Streep was over rated ever since I saw her horrible accent and acting performance in "Sophie's Choice".

Well there's no doubt you know the law better than I, but this lies within the court of public opinion.

Only Trump knows his intent, whether he was joking or serious. If he was indeed joking, then we've got a joker for a president. Which isn't such a good thing in my book, either.

Let's hope his governance is better than his Presidential demeanor.

Right. If I walk up to a Chinese-American who has a slight accent and in an exaggerated fashion yell "Ching Chong Ching Chong" at him can I say I wasn't making fun of him since that isn't actually what he sounds like?

We'll have to just cordially disagree on the level of Streep's talent, but I appreciate your opinion. I do agree with the rest of your post.

You just reminded me of the time when Trump mocked the Chinese and Japanese with a broken-English accent.

Mocking people. It's what he does.

Interesting example.

O'Reily's "Watter's World" did a segment in one of NYC's Chinatowns, where in the wrap-up they claimed many of the inhabitants were not aware of the Presidential race (in Fox' terms of "awareness"). Now it wasn't pantomime in totality, though there was some, but they definitely took advantage of those without linguistic skills or cultural awareness to make their points. I essentially see it as mocking, but hey - it's Fox.

He mocked Ted Cruz for the silliness it was worth, as if Cruz is unable to control his speech and the movement of his limbs. When he mocked the handicapped reporter in the same way but with more exaggeration and at greater length, the mockery was real.

Yes, mocking. In a sophomoric immature fashion, at that.

While always in poor taste, it's relatively inconsequential when the a-hole neighbor down the block does it. But bears much more consequence when the leader of the free world & President of the United States does it! He's going to set America back a half century to the time of The Ugly American!

It's going to be a long miserable four years ...

I didn't see it that way because he didn't ape the handicap. you don't mock paralysis by massive movement. and the real pathetic nonsense was that idiot mom claiming trump was mocking her autistic son or that whining black kid claiming trump was making fun of him

I think the average voter realized what BS hillary's victim of the week club ads were and it backfired.

I certainly hope so for the anti American far left. Now if its bad for everyone I will certainly vote against Trump in 2020. But if the majority of the whining comes from the welfare socialist SJW/PC whinerroids, then I will be a happy man
