Something that bothers me....

The document confers social responsibilities? I must go right now, but would love to read an elaboration on that point tomorrow. The government card makes a person socially responsible? Sounds specious to me.

Over quite a few years, I've read several stories relating how many illegal immigrants with fake social security cards actually have wages withheld in accordance with IRS procedures, and because they are fake SSAN, they never get any of their taxes back. They are effectively over taxed, and go along willingly. How does that factor in to your calculation?

Unfairly. They are then shouldering an undue portion. But that's what happens when you break the rules.

Well, yes, I suppose that's so, but I don't see the point. Even with the document they live together at the agreement of both. Without the document they live together at the agreement of both.

In one case they have the blessing of the state, and in the other they don't. In one case they have paid a fee to the state, in the other they have not. In both cases they live together and enjoy the benefits thereof.
Some couples (rare, granted) choose to get married and then never live together.

I heard someone today discussing illegal immigration and he said, "Well, when you think about it -- we're ALL immigrants."

Ugh. That annoys me. I am not an immigrant. I was born in the USA and I've never even stepped foot in a different country. My parents, grandparents and great-grandparents also weren't immigrants. We are not our ancestors.

Discuss.
"We are all immigrants" is just shorthand for "We are all descended from immigrants." If it weren't for our immigrant ancestors, we wouldn't be here. Pointing that out shouldn't annoy you.

Why are you directing this toward me?

Because you indicated seeing no importance in your ancestry. I don't relate to that at all.

"Undocumented worker" is the PC term.

like "UNlicensed pharasist" for a drug dealer,
and "private wealth redistrubitionist" for a bank robber,
and "alternative internet opinion specialist" for a troll....(I just invented that one )

I like that "alternative opinion specialist"!

My all-time fave is "involuntary guest of the state" for "convict."

I did? Where?

I looked at the quote again, and it seems I misread something you said. I think you were saying that ancestry is important, but you don't relate to saying everybody is an immigrant

Yes, that's what I was saying.
