The GOP controlled legislature in North Carolina is passing bills to limit, almost eliminate, the power of the governor because the state elected a Democrat. DO you agree with what they are doing and do you see it as trying to punish those who elected this man to be their governor?
I myself see it as one more reason that I have touble voting for the present crop of republican candidates. They weem to be willing to do anyting to "win" or keep control once they have won. A good example is how courts are beginning to force the GOP to redistrict states where they have gerrymanded the political lines in the those states to such a degree that even the courts are stepping in, something that the courts have not done very often in the past. North Carolina happens to be one of those states as well as Wisconsin. Even how the GOP is handling the Russian influence in the just finiished presidential election is disturbing. Rather than seem to be ready to go after the Russians, they seem more willing to go after the CIA and FBI for even letting us know what happened. And even more disturbing is many people I know who are ardent GOPer's also are willing to blame the messengers than the Russians. And the fact that as many as 37% of the GOP supporters have a favorable view oof Putin is the most disturbing.

the gop went nuts when a black president was elected. the ironic thing the kinda crap they are pulling always flops on its face in the end.

If this was the first time this sort of thing happened, I would say its going to come around and bite them in the butt. That said I doubt this is the first time this sort of crap has been pulled by either party. Its par for the course anymore.

No! Not OK. It's an assault on democracy. Fascism in North Carolina.

I'm fine with it.

Okay. First of all, it appears that, even though you want the topic of this thread to be about the events in NC...at least going by your thread title...what you are REALLY doing here is grousing about the whole GOP. I mean, that's why you bring up those unrelated, off-topic issues, right? Myself, I'd prefer you place your attention on one topic and leave it at that. Throwing everything, including the kitchen sink, against the wall to see if anything sticks to your complaint about the GOP in NC appears to be you not being able to talk specifically about your own topic.

Anyway, before I'll talk about this GOP/NC issue, I ask that you provide a link to whatever source of information you prefer. This will do two things...it'll let me know what YOU know about the topic and it'll let me know what is fueling your bias. Give me that and we'll talk.

No, i wish these republicans had half the honor their party boasts of having.

You think? Was anything illegal done other than a disagreement over drawing district lines?

You mean like the Clintons do or Teddy Kennedy boasted?

;)

The right shows their undying admiration for Ted Kennedy yet again.

Shouldn't you hold your party to a higher level of conduct than the Democrats?

It's not my party, but the Republicans usually get very angry with members that kill drunken girls by driving off of bridges in a stupor. They don't, to my knowledge, keep them on for decades as moral beams to their senate brethren.

It's not your party, you just copy and paste their talking points and believe them to be morally superior...yeah, that makes sense.

How does one start out with ifs and doubts - not ACTUAL knowledge - and land on....

Its par for the course anymore.

By your own words, you don't actually know if it is par for the course.

This is a stupid move.
Correction...make that an illegal move

To the GOP legislature of North Carolina, i say: Knock it off!

Yeah, except that it's Podesta and Clinton who now claim that the FBI is full of incompetent boobs. It's the Democrats who have bought every conspiracy theory that has come across the transom (The Russians!). It's the Democrats who stopped at absolutely nothing to win, as in documented in the emails that they themselves wrote.

Not long before the election Obama himself said that there was no danger that Russian hackers would interfere with the election. The Vice President said the same thing in stronger terms. It the current 180 degree change on this just because they lost the election? Are they lying through their teeth in trying to blame the Russians? It would seem so.

Democrats are on the path to self destruction. We had better stay out of their way.

I am not interested in debating with you. Don't expect replies from me in the future in this and other threads. I shall also be refraining from replying to any posts you might make in this thread and elsewhere. Thanks. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Cheers.

If you cannot come up with a response, then put me on ignore.

:doh

The fact remains that you indicated that you had no idea whether it happens regularly or even if this is the first time it happened, then turned around and said it's "par for the course." If you cannot defend it, do not say it.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/14/u...ina-governor-roy-cooper-republicans.html?_r=0 One of many i could send you, but it has been on all of the 24 hour news staions as well as on the national news for several days. And yes i am upset at the present GOP. For years I voted for them and still do in local elections, but they have become the party of crazies and those who are willing to win at any cost. And I also see them as no longer interested in the middle income earner, only the very rich. Look at Trumps cabinet, some generals, but mostly made up of the very rich. And what we will get is more of the trickle down theory, meaning, give wealthy tax payers huge tax cuts and push the cost on the middle. This time to head of household.

Those are deflections.

You mean, you don't want to talk about really bad precedents? But you are right. The examples had only marginally to do with honor. It was more criminal. I guess I did the Republicans wrong there. ;)

I'm happy to discuss how republicans in North Carolina are trying to subvert the our political process by robbing the governorship of authority out of nothing more than petty partisanship.

If you want to discuss decades-old history, i think you could find a better venue.

Stop throwing out red herrings and answer the question posted in the original post, are you okay with what the GOP is doing in North Carolina? This is what cons do when they don't want to answera question, throw out something, even if it isn't on subject or happened what, fifty years ago. And they aren't the ones saying the FBI and CIA are incompetent, that is the president elect. And Comey is the GOPer that put out false info right before the electiion and it along with the Russian/Wikileaks info turned the election in favor of Trump.

Subversion? Robbing the governorship of authority? Rather overpuffed, don't you think. You have to make a better case that something beyond politics as usual is happening than a biased statement.

"Politics as usual" is when nothing happens.

There's nothing "overpuffed." They are cutting 80% of the governor's staff.

Business as usual is when the best politics happen. That is because that's when you get legitimacy.
