"The hacks were so widespread and sustained over such a long period of time that U.S. Intelligence sources say it could not have been carried out without the knowledge of senior levels of the Kremlin. CBS News has learned that investigators believe the initial cyberattack involved thousands of malicious emails aimed at the U.S. government, military and political organizations.

U.S. officials tell CBS News that U.S. Intelligence believes that Putin, at some point, was directly involved in the hacking around the U.S. election and approved the dissemination of the information.

U.S. intelligence believes that Putin initially wanted to damage Hillary Clinton and to inject chaos and doubt into the election process. And Putin intended to do that – no matter who the Republican candidate turned out to be. It is clear that the hack and the subsequent document release ended up helping Donald Trump. Officials said it was an added bonus that Mr. Trump was the Republican nominee and ended up winning the election.

The operation started in the summer of 2015 and was a large undertaking.

First attempts by foreign hackers to disrupt the election came in the form of malware and phising emails, which allowed them into systems inside the Democratic National Committee.

U.S. intelligence sources tell CBS News this type of cyber hacking could not have happened without Vladimir Putin’s blessing, saying: “The orders to do it would have had to come from the highest level.”"

Hacking, a little FBI tampering and a bad campaign strategy in the Rust Belt, and suddenly a 3-million vote advantage turns into a 50 electoral vote loss. **** happens.

Seriously, this election was so tight in those final three states: PA, WI, and MI; that any one of those issues goes away, and we're saying Madame President next month.

Let Obama leave office in peace, without blaming another disaster on him. No matter how much he deserves the blame for this failure.

Sorry; hoping and wishing won't make it come true.

The election results were no closer in those three States than it was in about five States that went to Hillary.

Moreover, IMO if there was an actual recount in California it is entirely possible a number of votes for her would be found not quite kosher.

And wasn't there some recent story about more people voting in certain precincts where Hillary won Detroit than actually existed in those precincts?

Trump won the electoral vote fair and square. Get over it and move on. :coffeepap:

I believe we are referring to the hacks at the DNC and Podesta's emails. No one is saying the Russians hacked voting machines....at least not yet.

Then it really isn't "election" hacking, then is it? It's taken me by surprise how the hacking of a private organization has now become election hacking.

Well, there was hacking of the DNC, and there was the Systematic propagation of fake news. The Russians engaged in a systematic propagation of false news that was eaten up by conservatives, going as far as one of the crazies ending up in a restaurant in DC shooting up the place to break up Hillary's child pornography ring.

The pattern of election meddling is very similar to what they have done in some elections in Eastern Europe. The same techniques were used and they carry the same cyber fingerprints. And when the FBI learned about the possibility of all this Russian meddling months before the election , they said nothing. But Huma's Email? Oh, that just have to become public information days before the election!

Mark my words, if the Hill-boughts get their way in the end after all, and even come close to completing the process of shoving her down our throats after all via unconstitutional and undemocratic installment of her into Office based on some hearsay speculation that Russia might have "hacked" our election (which is impossible), we will be looking at war on American soil. The Trump supporters (which includes large swathes of the military-industrial complex, the police nationwide, and armed Americans) will unite with Bernie supporters and Progressives pissed off at the Democratic establishment (and Washington/Wall Street), and they will lose. And President Trump will refuse to step down any way. The 'peaceful transition of power' will be a thing of the past as the hypocritical Centrist establishment that once championed condemnation of those who challenge an election will become the very threat they once railed against to the unity of this country.

And mark my words, they and their conspirators and systemic corruption of all levels and calibers of our economy and political power structure will fall. And I will be right there at the forefront of the front lines with my unlikeliest of allies - Trump supporters.

Jesus Henry Christ this world has completely belly-flopped.

I wonder, if this is in fact true, and the Kremlin is involved in hacking the 2016 election... I wonder what other elections they have hacked?

How many of our generals have they installed?
How many of our Joint-Chiefs have they installed?
How many of our local representatives? Our senators? Our policies?

Presidents?
Entire Federal Departments?

How long has this been going on for?

How many other national governments have they installed? In France? In Britain?

They recently said Brexit may have been a Russian project.
What if NATO was, too?
What if the EU was, too?
All to paint Russia as a victim of Western Imperialism.
Bilderberg? The Council on Foreign Relations?
And Trump is the spearhead of it all.
Even the Clinton Foundation has Russian connections (and even Trump himself donated to the Clinton Foundation).

I mean, this may be it, people. Their entire global power structure may be ready to fall.

The CIA may take down the global elite after all.

doesn't surprise me that much. i'm mostly interested in how much the Trump campaign knew about it when it was happening.

Yeah...still not hacking the election. Meddling in the election? Sure. But not hacking the election.

And before one gets on their high horse about a foreign country meddling in the election of our country, just keep in mind how many countries whose governments we meddle in. I'm not saying I like the idea of Russia trying to influence our election process, but our country really doesn't have much of a leg to stand on without using hypocrisy as a prop.

Every bit of that post is guesses and opinion. Maybe it is true, maybe not but it isn't worth discussing without facts.
 
The democrats keep running with this and make themselves look more foolish everyday.

Not a single head of any of the intelligence agencies has offered anything but speculation.
