This Ivanka Thing is Getting bit Weird

People who think it's weird to see a daughter playing First Lady. Duh.

But two daddies and no mommies is just dandy.

Are we still supposed to be filling family molds.

What about "family's come in all shapes"?

Is that rule expired?

Am I out of date?

Could be.

May be.

You're just jealous that Ivanka is more take-charge than Chelsea.

Ok, I understand Trump won the South, but....does he have to live the stereotype too?

Ivanka Trump 'to have office in part of White House reserved for first lady'

Who does this?

Eh, if Melania is going to be staying primarily in New York, as has been previously reported, this actually makes sense. If Ivanka is going to be the member of the family more often at the White House and acting in a hosting style fashion for dignitaries and the like, it would make sense that she have a space to utilize and if the First Lady's space isn't being used why let it go to waste. Not really seeing a huge deal here. We're talking about an office; it's not like they're saying Trump's sharing the bed with her or something like you're ridiculously trying to act like it is.

Plenty of past precedent for it. We had one bachelor president who's niece took on the first lady role and three Presidents whose wives died while they were in office who's daughters then took on the responsibility. Given Melania's stated preference to care for her son I really don't see it all that unusual.

Stop! Stop with your use of history and reason.

Yep,, the Howard Stern show, there's a credible news source... I think it's a requirement to say disgusting things on that show...and the view?? Well hell,, you can't have a sense of humor there... Those clips really did not convince me he's a perv.

and by the way,, I think my daughter is really beautiful as well,, care to characterize me?

lol. Yeah I know. Character flaw.

Reading up on it a little more I mentioned spouses who died while their husbands were in office but several Presidents came to the office as widowers, including Jefferson, whose daughter took the role. (That I should have remembered - I read a Jefferson biography last year).

In fact the term "First Lady" seems to have been coined to describe James Buchanan, the bachelor President's, niece.

All in all something like 2 dozen women, generally daughters, have filled the role at least part time - because the President's wife couldn't for reasons of health or otherwise.

It depends. Have you made the case for dating her in public, or just in private?

Yeah, you're a normal parent who thinks his daughter is beautiful.

You don't feel sexually attracted to her, do you?

Becaaaaaaaause... he's a complete scumbag? Think of it like keeping an eye on a petulant, ill-behaved spoiled child that is incapable of sitting still for more than a few minutes without breaking something.

I am more inclined to believe she wants a piece of the pie.

Talk about messing-up a kid's head!

And it was all legal, because he & Mia weren't legally married and Soon Yi was adopted. He helped raise her since the adoption at around 8 or 9 years old. Then married her when she turned 21 (to his 56)! :doh

Sick stuff, IMO.

He lost all financial backing for quite a long while after that. Played with his jazz band, and couldn't get a movie.

And doesnt one of his other kids accuse him of molesting her? I believe it.

Yes, I don't remember the details, but one of his girls did claim that.

I've got kids and daughters myself, and I can't fathom the change in relationship from father and parent, to that of husband and lover. Legal or not as in this instance, I still can't believe that's not emotionally harmful to the kid. Can't be too good for the father either, I suspect.

The one indissoluble bond should be parent & child, because it's based upon pure unselfish love. It should be the one thing that's never broken, the one thing a kid can count on. And this just goes counter to all this.

Every day that passes, I more appreciate that I had two normal, caring, respectful parents. When I was young, I thought they were boring, conventional, old fashioned, and behind the times. Now a days I thank my luck stars they were boring, conventional, old fashioned, and behind the times! I wish everyone was!
