If one were to reverse the roles and if it was black on white this never would have made the news.

It’s the old double standard. But then, whites are expected to maintain a higher standard of decency. Minorities get a free pass.

But this kid - because he is white - must be punished.

I think we have gone soft in the head to treat this in any other way than as stupid and parents have given up teaching children manners.

Being ignorant isn't a crime. Acting ignorantly in a way that doesn't harm others is not illegal. Hurting someone's feelings by saying hateful things is not a crime. The First Amendment protects the kid that made the video. If the DA presses charges he should be removed from office for prosecutorial misconduct.

The kid that made the video is an asshole, but being an asshole is not illegal, either. If being an ignorant asshole was illegal, the entire country would be locked up at least once in their life, some would spend their entire life in prison.

The other kid is in trouble too. From the article

After seeing the video on social media, the black student attacked the white student at a football game, Morganelli said. Lower Saucon police charged the black student with assault and other offenses; the charges are pending in juvenile court.

So I think on both sides charges are likely not all that warranted. These are kids, one was rude and ignorant for sure, but got popped in the mouth for the effort. I'd call it done.

Ridiculous. It looks like ignorant hyperbole is OK with you.

This is school yard fighting. The one kid was being a racist jerk, making fun of another individual, calling him racist names and poor. That kid found out, and started a fight about it. They are kids, and in part, this is what kids do. People mouth off all the time, kids particularly so, and sometimes when mouthing off, you deserve a pop to the face, and every once in awhile, you got this.

If it turns out that the kid got a group of his buddies together and the all jumped the white kid, OK, bring charges. But if this was a standard schoolyard fight, then that's what it was. Detention and get the **** over it.

Good grief, give them both a pair of boxing gloves and have them go at it. Just stupid boys, being stupid. Nothing new here. Been going on since the beginning of time.
