My theory is Trump isn't going to pick Romney for State.

He's picking his brain, and using Romney to unify that wing of the party, after Romney spent the past year pissing in Trump's face.

Trump is playing him so as to shut Romney's yap for the next 8-years.

State needs an exterminator in there to get rid of all the roaches. Romney isn't that guy.

Giuliani or Bolton would be my top picks... but who knows what Trump will do.

And... I could be wrong.

Why do so many Americans believe Trump-supporters are fascists?:2razz:

I'm surprised that Newt isn't in the running for SoS.
Being a historian, I can easily see where that knowledge and understanding of the history of the nations the SoS would have to deal with would be a distinct and significant advantage.

I'd rather go Bolton rather than Giuliani, as doesn't Bolton have more international experience being at the UN which Giuliani doesn't? I don't know how much international experience Giuliani has on this resume.

I think your post is cute...last two lines. He's got us buffaloed, that's for sure. I actually like that unpredictability. A great leader really doesn't need to telegraph... I think we're all in for an interesting ride.

I suspect this entire phony audition for Romney is simply a very ugly effort by hard core right wing Trump loyalists to humiliate and embarrass Romney for opposing Trump over the last year. They want to dangle the job in front of him, watch him jump through the hoops, get him on TV shaking hands with Trump , and then upend a bucket of pig poop on his head and laugh in delight when he does not get the job.

Romney isn't known for world affairs expertise. He's a businessman.

Trump, IMO is trying to help Romney "rehabilitate" his image after his dastardly challenge to Trump laced with poisonous insults best left to the democrats.

Magnanimity can only go so far. Where the rubber hits the road, Petraeus is the man. His "issues" with classified documents have been nullified by Clinton's e-mail "problems". If anyone needed to be back in government, it's Petraeus.

There are lots of positions Romney could be put in, but SoS is not the one.

You really think that? I guess we'll see. I think this speaks well for both of them, and it ought to remind us it's all a game. Look at what Obama said about Hillary Clinton. Michelle AND Barrock.

Actually, he has a lot of experience at exterminating. Nevertheless, he shouldn't be Secy of State.

Yay! A return to the days of Cultural Revolution. When does Trump release his Little Red Book?

You're confused. Anita Dunn was the Maoist. DJT is an American who loves his country. He isn't a leftist kook.

Leftists ate crap this election and they'll continue to implode and eat even more crap over the next few years without an attitude change.

As for SoS, anyone would be an improvement over the last two.

Newt wants a different job... to oversee the entire strategic picture... not just the moment to moment stuff.

Either Bolton or Giuliani. I believe Giuliani has business dealings in 80 countries. He's no neophyte.

The outgoing administration is like watching the Warner Bros & Disney characters plus Keystone Cops and Three Stooges leave the stage.

I especially love the fact he's not going to telegraph his moves when it comes to our enemies. And With Flynn and hopefully Mattis... Ooh Rah!!!

The Goebbels Inspired Media Propagandists (GIMPs) and their clan of Leftists will howl... but let them.

I think Trump doesn't give a rat's ass about Romney...except insofar as he can use Romney to teach the Republican Elites a lesson...which is, that he has their number...and how he can rope-a-dope the media some more. I don't know who Trump will ultimately select as his SoS, but it won't be Romney.

Didn't know that about Giuliani.

I agree.

Trump's shrewd... and that's great.

Little things sometimes give signals (Can also read too much into it... but...). When Romney first visited Trump in NJ, he was on the step below him and Pence when they first shook hands. That, I believe was for a reason. He wouldn't do it to Mattis, Flynn, Giuliani... anyone else.

I thought it was interesting.

We've definitely regressed, that's for sure. Our allies don't trust us and our enemies don't respect us. The next SoS has a tall order to fill.

It bothers me too because Romney was such a scumbag during the general election, he pretty well lost all the respect I had for him. I did support Romney in 2012 though and I still believe we would be so much better off now had he been elected instead of a second Obama term. But the left couldn't swallow their egos enough to allow that to happen. And because Romney just isn't that warm, engaging kind of guy that endears himself to people, he couldn't generate enough votes on the right. And so the world turned anyway. . .

But now that same general unlikeability is in play plus the resentment so many of us still feel re his behavior during the general election. I have a difficult time forgiving that without at least some kind of acknowledgment or apology for it from Romney. He is the only potential nominee Trump has come up with so far that my gut is rejecting big time.

At the same time, the 'bullying", "thin skinned", "petty", etc. adjectives applied to Trump due to HIS behavior during the general election are certainly dissipated if he chooses Romney in spite of Romney's words and behavior during the general election. That takes a magnanimity that I don't know if I would be able to muster and putting the nation's welfare ahead of one's personal feelings that could very well be to Trump's credit. I too would prefer Bolton or Gingrich or Giuliani I believe, but Romney would provide an honorable and competent stature to the position and command a respect that Hillary certainly did not.

Bottom line? I'm torn on this one.

And like the DoJ and IRS, State has been corrupted by Leftist Lunacy.

I'm not torn. Romney seems like a nice enough guy, but he screwed the pooch badly several times.

He's a loser in politics in several ways:

1. What he did to Trump during the election was disgusting at best.

2. When he made his 47% comment, which was 100% correct, he was too ball-less to go on and explain it to the public. He was 100% right, and 100% weak in the aftermath.

3. He failed to beat a tragically and fully failed opponent. There aren't many weaker opponents than Obama... in golfing terms it was a ball on the tee ready to be nuked... and he whiffed it.

4. RomneyKare. Used by Obama to push the abortion known as ObamaKare.

Romney had his time... screwing the pooch in big ways when it mattered. He's a nice guy but political disaster.

No need to hire a political loser. Losers are fine for Demokrats (Clinton and Kerry)... we don't need to elevate proven losers as a representative of Make America Great Again.

Giuliani is nothing more than a remora attached to the bottom of Trump and hoping for some scraps. A sad picture indeed.

You give Trump too much credit. As long as Romney kisses the ring Trump will forget the last 18 months and everything Romney said. Trump has no foundation. He's a king with no clothes who attacks anyone who calls him on it and rewards those who tells him how great his clothes are. He might not pick Romney but it won't be because he was playing Romney.

Credit... Yeah... I'll give him lots of credit.

He ran a campaign which was **** on from Day 1.

He beat 16 or 17 opponents to win the R nomination.

He beat Hillary, who had the full backing of the Media.

He won MI, WI, PA, NC and FL...

He did it all spending pennies to Hillary's dollars.

He seared the brand of "corrupt" on the corrupt media..

He built a business empire.

Credit?

Damn Right.

The man deserves wads of credit.

King with no clothes? No... those are the Leftists in Mom's basement butt neked on the keyboard who have never accomplished anything in their lives and have been slurping the failed socialist **** all their lives, and spewing it back out online.

Lol you think that you'd be happy with your chosen dear leader.

Trump is great at marketing. That's how he got all of those idiots to believe that Hillary was going to jail and every other piece of nonsense that he's either going to backtrack on or already has.
