Donald Trump needs to be more clear on his position on the Alt Right

Right.

He's calling for an end to ILLEGAL immigration, and to the immigration or granting of refugee status to UNVETTED Muslims.

And he made an offhand comment about some woman.

No, he's associating Hispanic immigrants with rapists and murders and only banning Muslims, not anyone else. That's bigotry.

How in the name of everything common sense does any of that equate to a war against ALL Mexicans, ALL Muslims, ALL African Americans (they're crying like a pack of little girls with a skinned knee too), ALL everybody who isn't a white nationalist member of the KKK?

Not saying that you personally are making any of those claims but you're have to be deaf, dumb, and blind to not know that they're being made every day.
I'm not responsible for what others say. I'm only responsible for what I say. And someone requested where Trump supported bigotry and I provided direct comments from Trump which were bigoted.

But as to your specific claim, how does either of those positions amount to racism and bigotry?
See above.

For God's sake, the man has come out and stated plainly that he doesn't have any problem at all with Mexicans, Muslims, immigrants, homosexuals, or women in general.
"I think Trump supporters are stupid, they are racists, they are deplorable. And some, I assume, are good people".

But I love Trump supporters.

- See what I did there?

If he were a racist and a bigot he'd be saying, "Yeah, I hate Mexicans, I hate whoever...".
No, that's not how it works anymore. You don't say things outright, you just make comments which suggest it. That way you can still get the support, but you maintain deniability.

You can go ahead and Google any of those statements, they're all direct Donald Trump quotes.
See above.

Again and again throughout his campaign he has made it abundantly clear that his opposition is to ILLEGAL immigration and even in the one deleterious comment you've cited it is CLEAR that he's talking not about Mexicans in general but rather about ILLEGAL immigrants.
It's about Hispanic immigrants. It's that simple.

But the intellectually dishonest Trump detractors pick that one comment up, out of numerous positive comments, and run with it because it's what suits your agenda.
No, it's because it was incredibly offensive.

Perhaps you're unfamiliar with how this works. I can shout all day long about how I believe in American made products, but if every item in my store has "Made in China" stamped on it, it makes me a liar. Trump can say all day long he respects Muslims, but when he calls for a religious ban, it's clear he's full of crap.

Now, to be clear, I don't know if that's how Trump believes. But it IS evidence of Trump supporting bigotry, which was the standard.

And as far as his woman-hatred is concerned you'd have to be blind to not see how much he loves and respects his daughters and his wife and how Kellyanne Conway was the first winning female campaign manager in history.
Yes, he respects women so much he goes up to them and kisses them without their consent and grabs them by the p***y just because he's a star.

That's real respect for women right there.

That won't stop people from losing their minds that the Neo-Nazis are gonna take over.

You know, I spoke out against Trump during the election, I continue to do so now. But the level of crying, whining, rioting, etc. that has occurred after he won really makes me want for Trump to somehow turnout to be the best President we've had in decades.

Now, I don't think he will be, I still maintain that he's going to be a juuuuuge embarrassment, but people are losing their gosh dang minds over this and he hasn't even taken office yet. For fudge sakes people, calm it down!

Sure it is.

White people aren't immigrating to this country from Mexico. It's pretty clear what Donald Trump was saying. He was clearly railing against Hispanic illegal immigrants, accusing Mexico of sending the worst people. In other words, if someone is a Hispanic who crossed the Mexican border, they are rapists, murderers, etc. It's bigoted. Don't try to pretend it's not.

Wait, you don't think white people live in Mexico? I have Mexican friends who would argue differently.

Still, I suppose that is a typical ethnocentric American viewpoint, hardly "racist" at all. ;)

But if you think that all "Mexicans" are a single ethnic group, then you know nothing about either Mexico or any other Non-European nations. In fact, if you think everyone who lives in and is a citizen of many European nations is automatically "white," then you know very little about the world in general.

Moreover, you are the one making hasty generalizations; conflating "Mexican" with "Hispanic," when that label applies to anyone whose ancestry originates in the American territories once controlled by Spain.

Finally, NO! He was not equating anyone and everyone who crosses our southern border with Mexico as rapists, murderers, etc., simply because the FACT is that he did not say that. In your opinion it's bigoted, in mine it is not. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but opinion is not fact.

You can be bigoted against a religion. Perhaps you ought to refer to a dictionary.

That statement is a general truism. It does not make it factually true of Trump. I refer you to the above comment regarding opinion.

Not offensive at all, correct?

You've mention offense twice in your response. You do realize offense can only be taken if one chooses to be offended, right?

People can and will be offended over things that other's would laugh at or dismiss as unimportant. The mere fact that someone takes personal offense at something is not an argument. It's just another expression of personal opinion.

The point is, there is almost no evidence of actual racism, misogyny, or bigotry. There is clear evidence of nationalism which can be interpreted by some as racism and bigotry. I choose not to, while you appear to choose to.

However, the burden of proof in our society currently lies with the accuser, so until you or others can prove that he is a racist, misogynist, etc., then such things simply remain opinion and not fact. :coffeepap:

Really? Hmm...and can you provide clear examples of his support for racism and bigotry? Because I viewed most of the tapes used to allege his racism and bigotry and I didn't see it...not once.

In fact I posted a number of responses in the Forum to member posts advocating such concerns during the early part of the campaign, after personally reviewing those tapes.

I was not an original supporter, I honestly thought he threw his hat in the ring as a publicity stunt. That he never intended to go all the way, and didn't invest until he saw whatever he was doing was working. I was concerned about all the negative allegations, but when I actually looked at the evidence I discovered it was innuendo and biased reporting.

The fact that some small number of fringe groups supported him, as did some small number of fringe groups (like the American Communist Party) supported Hillary, does not prove guilt by such association.

Excellent post. I did not want Donald Trump to be the GOP nominee, but once he was, I too did my homework.

Accusations of racism and bigotry in Trump? Verdict: fabricated out of thin air and promoted for malicious reasons.
Accusations of sexism and misogyny in Trump? Verdict: fabricated out of thin air and promoted for malicious reasons.
Etc.

As we all are, Trump is a fallible person with strengths, weaknesses, a charming side and an irritating side. He won't be a perfect president and he's going to make some mistakes and misjudgments. But I see in him a vision and worthy goals and the kind of person who will actually try to reach them. And probably will a good many of them.

The same people who are doing their damndest to make him into a racist, bigot, sexist, etc. will surely focus on any missteps and ignore anything good that happens.

But on we go per usual. . . .

Whether he created it or not, he is stuck with it, so why not clear the air and tell the People is stand on the issue is he interested in bringing people together or satisfied with the division? In my opinion he would be best served by making a public statement on the topic.

The problem is that they are part of the coalition that got him elected. He can't support them but neither can he do anything that might alienate them or make them feel betrayed by the person they considered their candidate.

Already here, this isn't starting with Trump. Fascism has been general Republocrat strategy for some time. And our Infinity War is to play right into that.

Wait, you don't think white people live in Mexico?
That's not what I said. Please go back and read what I said.

If you think that all "Mexicans" are a single ethnic group, then you know nothing about either Mexico or any other Non-European nations. In fact, if you think everyone who lives in and is a citizen of a European nation is automatically "white," then you know very little about the world in general.
And if you think that's what I said, you clearly didn't bother to read what I wrote. Try reading what I actually wrote for a change. I'd be grateful.

What I clearly said is white people are not immigrating from Mexico into the United States. So when we're talking about immigrants crossing the border into this country, we're clearly talking about a specific group of people. And those were the people to which Trump referred.

Moreover, you are the one making hasty generalizations, conflating "Mexican" with "Hispanic," when that label applies to anyone whose ancestry originates in the American territories once controlled by Spain.
I didn't conflate anything. You do realize the immigrants crossing the border aren't exclusively Mexican, right?

Do you even understand what is being discussed right now?

Finally, NO! He was nor equating anyone and everyone who crosses the southern border with Mexico are rapists, murderers, etc., simply because the FACT is that he did not say that.
Yes, yes he was. That's exactly what he was doing. He was lumping all of "them" together and some, he assumes, are good people.

You trying to explain away what he meant is ridiculous.

That statement is a general truism. It does not make it factually true of Trump. I refer you to the above comment regarding opinion.
Who cares if Trump is, you asked for examples of him supporting bigotry. If you can't understand what is being discussed, at least please remember your own damn words.

Trump was clearly singling out a specific religion. He was clearly proposing a ban on that religion because he was making clear implication Muslims are responsible for bad things. He didn't mention banning any other religion, even though all religions have their nutjobs who are responsible for bad things. He solely singled out Muslims.

That's bigotry.

You've mention offense twice in your response. You do realize offense can only be taken if one chooses to be offended, right?
And you realize whether or not you find something offensive is irrelevant to whether someone else finds it offensive, correct?

People can and will be offended over things that other's would laugh at or dismiss as unimportant. The mere fact that someone takes personal offense at something is not an argument.
On an individual level, sure. On a macro level, your argument is false.

The point is, there is almost no evidence of actual racism, misogyny, or bigotry.

Once more, a denial of reality.
However, the burden of proof in our society currently lays with the accuser, so until you or other can prove he is a racist, misogynist, etc., such things simply remain opinion and not a fact. :coffeepap:
You requested evidence of Trump supporting bigotry. I provided it. You choosing to duck your head in the sand doesn't make my evidence any less valid. Just because you claim to not accept it, it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

You asked for examples and I gave them to you, from Trump's own mouth. You're welcome.

"You've mention offense twice in your response. You do realize offense can only be taken if one chooses to be offended, right? "

So we should just kinda read these things below and "choose" not to be offended"? Really?

Here is Bannon and Breitbart news, while he was at the helm.

"‘• “Fear is a good thing. Fear is going to lead you to take action,” he said in a 2010 interview.

•“Let the grassroots turn on the hate because that’s the ONLY thing that will make them do their duty,” he wrote about Republican leaders in a 2014 email exchange with a Breitbart News editor. The emails were obtained by The Daily Beast.

• Referring to Ann Coulter, Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin in a 2011 radio interview on Political Vindication Radio, he said: “These women cut to the heart of the progressive narrative. That’s why there are some unintended consequences of the women’s liberation movement. That, in fact, the women that would lead this country would be pro-family, they would have husbands, they would love their children and stay at home with them. They wouldn’t be a bunch of dykes that came from the Seven Sisters schools up in New England. That drives the left insane, and that’s why they hate these women.”

• RE: Occupy Wall Street protests: “After making the Occupy movie, when you finish watching the film, you want to take a hot shower. You want to go home and shower because you’ve just spent an hour and 15 minutes with the greasiest, dirtiest people you will ever see.”

• “I think anger and hate are very good things. This country is in a crisis. And if you’re fighting to save this country, if you’re fighting to take this country back, it’s not going to be sunshine and patriots. It’s going to be people who want to fight.”

• “I’m a Leninist,” Mr. Bannon was quoted as saying by a writer for The Daily Beast who met him at a party in 2014. “Lenin wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal, too...I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.”

• “What we need to do is bitch-slap the Republican Party".

• “We don’t believe there is a functional conservative party in this country, and we certainly don’t think the Republican Party is that. It’s going to be an insurgent, center-right populist movement that is virulently anti-establishment, and it’s going to continue to hammer this city to a pulp.”

• “There is a growing global anti-establishment revolt against the permanent political class at home, and the global elites that influence them, which will impact everyone from Lubbock, Tex., to London, England."

• “We call ourselves ‘the Fight Club.’ You don’t come to us for warm and fuzzy“.

Mr. Bannon took over Breitbart News in 2012 after the death of its founder, Andrew Breitbart, and shifted it further to the right. Critics, including some conservatives formerly associated with it, have denounced Breitbart in its current incarnation as a hate site steeped in misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, white nationalism and anti-Semitism. Here is a sampling of some articles published during Mr. Bannon’s tenure that drew criticism:

• “Birth Control Makes Women Unattractive and Crazy” A December 2015 article by Milo Yiannopoulos, who was later barred from Twitter when he was accused of inciting racist and sexist attacks on the actress Leslie Jones, told women that birth control “makes you fat,” “makes your voice unsexy,” “makes you jiggle wrong,” “makes you a slut” and “makes you unsexy all the time.”

• “Bill Kristol: Republican Spoiler, Renegade Jew” A May 2016 article by David Horowitz criticized Bill Kristol for his opposition to Mr. Trump as “a political miscalculation so great and a betrayal so profound as to not be easily forgiven.”

• “Roger Stone: Huma Abedin ‘Most Likely a Saudi Spy’ With ‘Deep, Inarguable Connections’ to ‘Global Terrorist Entity’” A June 2016 article by Dan Riehl chronicled the belief of Mr. Stone, a Trump adviser, that Ms. Abedin, an aide to Hillary Clinton, was connected to a terrorist conspiracy.

• “There’s No Hiring Bias Against Women in Tech, They Just Suck at Interviews” A July 2016 article by Mr. Yiannopoulos argued that it was women’s fault that tech firms hired so few of them.

• “Lesbian Bridezillas Bully Bridal Shop Owner Over Religious Beliefs” An August 2014 article by Susan Berry criticized a lesbian couple who complained on Facebook about a Pennsylvania bridal shop that refused to sell them wedding dresses.

• “The Solution to Online ‘Harassment’ Is Simple: Women Should Just Log Off” A July 2016 article by Mr. Yiannopoulos argued that women were “screwing up the internet for men by invading every space we have online and ruining it with attention-seeking and a needy, demanding, touchy-feely form of modern feminism.”

"I too did my homework.

Accusations of racism and bigotry in Trump? Verdict: fabricated out of thin air and promoted for malicious reasons.
Accusations of sexism and misogyny in Trump? Verdict: fabricated out of thin air and promoted for malicious reasons.
Etc."

Clearly not a very thorough job in doing your homework. Read above quotes from his top advisor.

I don't think President-Elect Trump is a racist. Honestly, i don't believe that. However, it is absolutely not up for debate that he targeted minorities, namely illegal immigrants from Mexico and Muslim immigrants, with his campaign rhetoric. Those are inappropriately large groups to target, in my opinion, and that erodes my confidence in his leadership.
OK on race, I agree. Of course he targeted illegal immigrants, isn't all criminal justice targeting a minority (law breakers) by definition? He did say he wanted to screen people from countries that most of the extremists groups identify with (Mulsim I don't know, but I'll assume that's true because he is that outlandish). That's a safety vs rights issue, and is the same on nearly every such issue. Would you prefer he increase screening on everyone, just to be "fair", but it will cost 100x as much? Or do you focus on the areas that are demonstrated to be in the national interest? It's harsh, but disqualified for being president?
I don't want to discuss Hillary here, i consider that irrelevant.
When trying to determine if you are simply being partisan/irrational, or reasonable/ethical/fair, its important to me. Claiming he's no leader because he used some sloppy speech (as a non-politician/speaker, imagine that) erodes his confidence. I'm simply asking if you think the Dem scandals were: 1. worse or less than those charges against Trump 2. If they similarly eroded your confidence in the opposition candidate. Because people had to choose BETWEEN THE TWO (or neither or throw away to libertarian). This involves a comparison. You can be outraged at whatever you want...politicians are often outrageous in general. I'm just curious if its partisan opposition or some well thought out legitimate concern. LIke when I watched Jon Stewards video (other thread), he sounded far less dramatic than the liberals in this thread... actually agreeing with the hypocrisy of the left. On muslims, he only specifically meant it as profiling with regards to terrorists entering the country. This is profiling, and is a form of religious bigotry...but many in the world are bigoted for or against religions of all stripes. Remember many religions specifically teach that their way is the only way...naturally with religion you will get crazy, because its founded on crazy. I think of the 3 this one he's the most guilty of se

Most of those sound like interesting articles and statements to me. I can understand why many creampuffs would like to make such a big deal of them.

If just once a Trump supporter would actually reply to the discussion at hand, instead of inventing a discussion which wasn't being had, I think I might die of shock. Read again to what I responded and read again what I said. Then post again.
I'm not a Trump supporter Slyfox696, you generalized just the way you claim is so wrong and terrible. Liberals are embarrassing themselves right now more than usual, its unfortunate. You wonder why they lost the election, they are just all over the ****ing place.

Whether he created it or not, he is stuck with it, so why not clear the air and tell the People is stand on the issue is he interested in bringing people together or satisfied with the division? In my opinion he would be best served by making a public statement on the topic.

No he's not. The left is stuck trying to pin this mysterious invention of theirs called the "alt-right" on him.

Please keep trying. Voters already saw through it before November 8, and they are seeing more of the same since.

The Trump comments today are words against the ALT RIGHT. As long as the man who gave the ALT RIGHT a national platform - and that would be Steve Bannon - has a top job with Trump - his words are not worth the utilitarian value of manure as fertilizer.

"Most of those sound like interesting articles and statements to me. I can understand why many creampuffs would like to make such a big deal of them."

Yes. That is the trump effect: making what was previously socially absolutely unacceptable, acceptable. It's like saying what's the big deal about cannibalism. Because, after all, after hearing about how our president feels he can wantonly grab women's p****ies because he's a celebrity, what else could possibly shock us?

Do you really think am artoc;e which argues against stopping online harassment against women, saying that they should just turn off the computer if they don't like it because they shouldn't be invading the safe space for men on the internet, is OK? Really?

Trump has denounced the alt-right, arrive have been linked in this thread. What else do you want? Besides for Hillary to be President (but she's not because she was a **** candidate who ran a **** campaign).

The alt right is a mysterious invention by the left?

Do you really believe that?

Here is what happened at the recent Alt Right conference held at Washington DC. I guarantee no liberals were present:

Not having the head of the leading Alt Right Newspaper as his top whitehouse advisor. Talk is cheap.

Re: blatantly bigoted articles from Breitbart and Bannon: "I can understand why many creampuffs would like to make such a big deal of them."

This reminds me a little of Trump talking about combat veterans suffering from PTSD: "“When you talk about the mental health problems, when people come back from war and combat — and they see things that maybe a lot of the folks in this room have seen many times over and you’re strong and you can handle it, but a lot of people can’t handle it,” Trump said.

Like I said: the Trump effect: making the rude, the offensive, the shocking, the socially absolutely unacceptable, normal and commonplace again.

"I think Trump supporters are stupid, they are racists, they are deplorable. And some, I assume, are good people".

:2razz:

From the sound of it you were advising the (losing) Clinton campaign.

I don't believe I did that. Why are Trump defenders so allergic to facts?
Someone asked for evidence Trump supported bigotry. I gave the examples. I didn't say any and everything was racist, I just said those were examples and there are more examples.
I didn't say he did. I said Trump said Mexico is sending drugs and rapists. Again, facts are important.
Oh really? So Judge Curiel cannot be impartial because his family is Mexican? That's correct? Megyn Kelly had blood coming out of whatever? Donald Trump didn't call for a Muslim ban on anyone entering this country?
You can start by explaining how the factual expression that the Mexican Government is not invested in preventing illegal immigration and that indeed many of those coming into this country illegally from Mexico ARE rapists and murderers is bigoted and not just an uncomfortable reality. You COULD I suppose attempt to refute the DOJ statistics that prove what Trump said is correct. But since you actually cant rebut the facts, you can feel free to ignore the fact that he has NEVER labelled Latinos ANYTHING, has not expressed bigotry towards all Latinos, and for some weird reason divert your argument re bigotry into Megan Kelley. Better yet...ignore the facts altogether and just squeal about bigotry.

Come on, your stand up routine is causing my sides to hurt I'm laughing so much.

How many members are there of the National Policy Institute?

Did you know there are more members of the Communist Party USA, who endorsed Hillary Clinton, than the reported numbers of people who might fit into this "alt-right" meme the left is desperate to promote?

Perhaps the desperate on the left need to step back for a minute and ponder the total shellacking that just occurred on November 8. Perhaps they will begin to get a clue what voters are concerned with. Hint: It's not the fabricated dog whistles liberal/socialist progressives keep blowing.
