And can the establishment stop him?

Listen to how the first policy statement in Trump's victory speech Wednesday morning echoed the progressive agenda that Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have championed, embellished with a typical Trumpian flourish: "We are going to fix our inner cities and rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, schools, hospitals. We're going to rebuild our infrastructure, which will become, by the way, second to none. And we will put millions of our people to work as we rebuild it."

Pretty good article here.

"Thread: Will Trump Be our First Liberal Republican?"

No.

As long as Hillary lost, I don't care what he is.

I would like to relish in the idea that republicans were epically hoodwinked into electing a liberal, but i'm not sure of that.

I think he's saying that stuff to help bring us together on common ground. Pretty nice of him to say, to be honest.

If ever I read a socialist agenda, that paragraph in the OP sure was it. Did he plagiarize it from Sanders?

As long as he doesn't end his game by sending Jews to gas chambers and sticking their corpses into ovens, it's a good start. But, it does sound very familiar.

Not with VP Pence leading the transition team, replacing Gov. Christie today.

Bridgegate seems to have ended Christie's shot at Chief of Staff.

Trump is still on record as protecting preexisting conditions in ACA.

No. That would have been Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th U.S. President, and a true Progressive.

So he'll be the second?

This is too much. Such a fitting end to the insanity of the 2016 election.

It's like defining the difference between H2O and water when it comes to some those guys. Hell Lincoln could have been described as a liberal by modern standards, as could Coolidge, and others. Even GHB on certain positions. But, old Teddy, he was the first full blown Progressive from the GOP.

When it comes to Trump? I have no clue what he's going to do, or how he's going to do it - liberal, conservative, progressive, alt-right, SJW, nationalist... hell, I can't tell.

We'll all find out soon enough.

And I'll always have some popcorn to share.

I'll bring the beer.

I don't know about you guys, but I like this man already.

Trump: "We are going to fix our inner cities and rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, schools, hospitals. We're going to rebuild our infrastructure..."

When is the last time in 50 years a Republican said one word about rebuilding our inner cities? Hell, when is the last time a Demorat even said it....after being elected?

Man, this could be something. Gulliani will clean up the mess, one city at at time, if need be. Trump will bring in the jobs, and someone else will figure out a way to instill some pride in the American worker again.

Well, I can hope.

Trump's bringing Big Steel back to the Rust Belt. AND Joe Paterno!

I think that Trump is so unprepared to be president that he will listen to and do almost exactly what his advisors tell him to do. Juat look at the people around him and be afraid, be very afraid of what he will do. Sarah Palin, my God, how much lower could he reach. Well I guess he could send her out to explain the hard things he has to do. By the time she is finished explaining things, people will be so confused they won't know what to think.

As disappointed as I was in the election results I am starting to get a little excited for the show that is to come. Which Trump will show up to work in the Oval Office? He has NO loyalty to the Republican Party. He isn't a partisan and he isn't an ideologue. He is an egomaniac. He has a need to be popular. So there is a good chance he will just keep doing what he thinks most of the people want him to do. That could go either way, depending on which groups of people are the most vocal.

He's a blank slate. But, we know a few things for sure. He's not a rural backwoods hick who hangs onto a bible. He's not a family values guy. He's probably hustled those kinds of people his whole life. He's a lot like the carny guy that comes to town and walks off with everyone's money.
