Poll: After Trump Tape, Clinton's Lead Up to Double Digits

As Donald Trump's campaign reels over tapes of the presidential candidate's sexually aggressive comments about women in 2005, the Republican nominee now trails Hillary Clinton by double digits among likely voters, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

The poll, conducted on Saturday and Sunday but before the second presidential debate, shows Clinton with 46 percent support among likely voters in a four-way matchup, compared to 35 percent for Trump…..

……..As Republicans grapple with how to hold on to control of the House and Senate despite the Trump campaign's woes, Democrats overall now have a seven-point advantage on the question of which party voters want to see in control of Congress. Forty-nine percent of voters say they'd like to see Democrats in power on Capitol Hill, compared to 42 percent who chose the GOP.

Sniffles is going down the tube…….and is not only going to lose by a landslide and turn control of Congress over to the Democrats………

And last night will be remembered as the end of the GOP as we know it…..

It's one poll, we need the week to get a clearer picture of what effect the tape has truly had on the electorate.

True. Things will revert closer to norm, after time. Also, he did well at the debate (it was a low bar), so that should help him.

She'll still be safely ahead, though. Pay attention to North Carolina, Ohio, and Florida to see which way the wind blows. Three important swing states.

Just one so far…….
Here is a new one just out this AM………

.........and the week is still to come

Come November, I do think that Hillary is going to win handily. I don't think it's a good thing, but I also don't think a Trump presidency will be a good thing. I think overall, things will get worse under Hillary as we move to a more closed, oppressive, corporate dominated system the likes the status-quo Corporate Republocrats have been moving us the past several presidencies. But she's running against Trump, and that pretty much was the only way she could have won the general election.

Maybe in 4 years, the GOP will put up a quality candidate, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I tend to agree, but I'm wondering and hoping if the strong Bernie showing and his contingent in the party may cause her to consider them in policy terms, out of political expediency.

Nope. She may talk the talk right now to make sure she gets the votes. While her running against Trump is about the only scenario she could have won in, she still needs to make sure she wins. Only Hillary could lose to Trump as well (that's how much no one actually likes her, though I still find the probability of her losing to be rather low).

But it will be words only. Once elected, she won't give a crap to any of them because she's not beholden to any of them. She's beholden to her corporate backers and that's who she will play to in the end. Just another standard Corporate Republocrat.

It's the same poll as what you had in #1.

I agree, except that I think the corporations already own the country. People are not going to elect libertarians, left or right extremists, etc. It used to be that a moderate was a good thing, and I think it still is better than an extremist. But Citizens United made it more important than ever to court the favor and big dollars of corporations and billionaires (the only ones with real power)...so the American people aren't represented to much extent. We can't even get regulation of life-saving medications...only unaffordable insurance that may or may not agree to pay for that medication. It's pathetic.

I am hoping the GOP does something to prevent someone like Trump ever reaching the candidacy again. There are some things they can do that are legal and ethical, I'm sure. No one took Trump seriously until it was too late; they were focused on arch enemy Cruz (who I'm sure is regretting his endorsement of Trump, now). Jeb Bush's poor showing at the debates is what spelled doom. No one saw that coming. He was awful at the debates.
