Elizabeth Warren is ready – in more ways than one

How is that even a good talking point? Oh, there is a this whole group of people that hate her, so she's cool. WTF?

I have no response to that.

Both Bernie and Warren pick "easy" platforms to run on.
Whether or not they actually work or are a functional reliable solution, doesn't matter.
The only difference between Bernie and Warren is, in my opinion, that Bernie believes it while Warren wants you to think she believes it.

Life, the economy, people are more complicated than "free college" or "get the banks."

Democrats do that in general. They appeal to people and their problems instead of standing for things that are actually real.

I have no response to that.

Yeah, attacking the rich and business is a great platform for a politician. Yeah, I oppose this whole group of people, so vote for me.

They both have "easy" platforms.

I can't name how many times I've heard from Republican supporters that something is "common sense."

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home in a body bag. Perhaps you can be the first!

If you think she's a liar then odds are the only ammunition you have is the American Indian thing, a dead position you can't defend. And if that is in fact your position, then you were so far gone to the polar right end of the political spectrum that a thousand blowjobs by the Swedish Bikini Team couldn't have convinced you to vote for her.

Wait...I think he American Indian controversy could be a thing that could be problematic. Now let's test this hypothesis of yours.

It probably wouldn't convince me, but let's give it a try.

Liberals will quite literally change their position on something if they feel it gets them votes. Republicans will shift eventually to appeal to people, but they don't just drop everything to do it at the drop of a hat.

Chatter is increasing regarding the possibility of Warren becoming Clinton's running mate, and Warren is doing little to dispel that notion. This surprises me. I have said multiple times now that Warren can do far more as Senator than as Vice President. So assuming that Clinton is elected, and assuming that Clinton isn't eventually forced to step down for some reason I can't possibly imagine at this time, what could Warren do as VP that she can't do much better, and for much longer, as Senator?

While it's true that she can be the tie breaker in a Senate Vote, as Senator she has sat on the...
  • Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs
  • Subcommittee on Economic Policy (Ranking Member)
  • Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection
  • Subcommittee on Securities, Insurance, and Investment
  • Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions
  • Subcommittee on Primary Health and Retirement Security
  • Special Committee on Aging
  • United States Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
  • United States Senate Energy Subcommittee on Energy

All of which carries a fantastic amount of influence.

The only practical consideration I can imagine is she feels that Trump is a legitimate threat and her addition to the ticket would help counter that possibility.

Cardinal...I appreciate all the work you put into that...

...but if you cannot see that the position of vice-president is a step up from being one of a hundred Senators...you are being blind.

Yeah, John Nance Garner once said being vice president was not worth a bucket of warm spit...but 14 vice presidents eventually became president. Only THREE sitting senators have become president. (Other ex-senators have become president...but several were vice-presidents also.)

So she sat on a bunch of committees? Big whoop?

You mean she has been around forever and is considered a senator senator? Again, big whoop.

Deeeeeerrrrrrp

How exactly? She isn't exactly liked by anyone outside of the far left.

Cross-over appeal isn't actually the issue here. The Democratic base that was energized by Sanders is let down by the Clinton win. The thinking might go that Warren, who shares the large majority of Sanders' appeal, would re-energize that base into getting to the voting booths.

Being a President is eight (potential) years and marks the end of one's active political career. Relative to many, Warren can still be considered young and has many years left of influencing policy in her current role. I just assumed Warren held that view, though from her words it's likely that I'm wrong.

Warren is an infinitely more competent person than Hillary from what I've seen so far. Hopefully Hillary gets indicted and then Warren takes her place.

Do people have a right to speak as a group?

It's not an unattractive scenario.

Deeeeeerrrrrrp

That's actually how it works, you know. All you're really speaking towards is her total time in office and what comes along with that. You don't prove her qualifications for the job by listing how many committees she was allowed to sit on.

You really don't give much credit to Bernie Sander supporters, do you? Do you really think they're dumb enough to support Hillary because she has this or that VP?

Certainly. Dogs can howl together as well.

Do you have a point?

Yes. How is citizens united wrong? If people have a right to speak as a group then corporations have a right to speak.

Not a surprising move. Bernie CANNOT be Hillary's VP, but Warren can appeal to Bernies voters.

Hurrrrrr......deedurrrrrr.

It's up for debate how much influence Clinton would allow her to have on policy. I think in the minds of Sanders voters, the best case scenario is Clinton steps down. And of course there's the tie breaker vote thing.
