Teacher loses right of appeal

So what's the point of bringing up Islam? We don't even know the teachers religion, assuming he even is a part of one which for all we know he's an atheist. Only reason to bring up Islam that I can think of is because the article mentions Trump and his EO. Which we have no clue as to whether that had an affect on the teacher or not. Being that according to the article he's never even been to any of those 7 countries listed on Trump's EO that seems very unlikely. So even bringing up Trumps EO was stupid of the author of the article. Just another attempt to smear Trump by innuendo.

So...why bring up Islam?

This - is the point of bringing up Islam; from the article:
The reason for the US refusing entry to Mr Miah was unclear to school leaders.

President Donald Trump issued a controversial travel ban earlier this month, banning travel to the US from seven mainly-Muslim countries.

It's an issue in the article and the OP, and other commentary has been on the US's right-wing Islamic paranoia. So there is definitely a reason, and the probabilities are high, that he's not a Power Ball winner.

You passed over the ME and IRA again, so I'm glad I was able to help you with your understanding of them.

An issue that deserves its own thread as this threads main topic is about the teacher and that is all that I am addressing. As far as I can tell Trump's EO had nothing to do with this teacher so the article was trying to make connections where there is none in order to elicit an emotional response and use a smear tactic.

As for the ME and IRA, I didn't comment on them because they're irrelevant to the topic. Which does remind me, don't tell me what I do or don't know. I haven't studied the history the IRA and whether you wish to believe that or not is completely up to you. I don't claim to know everything and won't pretend otherwise.

Well, since Trump's EO was in the OP article which in its entirety is open for debate, whether you like it or not, Trump's attitude, polices and American xenophobia with respect to Muslims; per Trump's EO mention are topics for discussion: I think you've boxed yourself in and are having trouble with that.

Secondly, the ME; per Trump's EO mentioned in the article and even the IRA ARE also relevant from a policy point of view for the ME and historically dealing with religion and terrorism. You don't have to have studied the actual late 18th century street fight (Battle of the Diamond in County Down Northern Ireland) to answer a very very simple question that you and other right-wing political commentators here seem to be expert on: the true connection of Islam and terrorism as you all espouse. Again, very very very simple question: you know the Bible - right? You know what terrorism is - right? You know what Catholics are - right? YOU may be one for all I know, so - was the IRA (read ISIS, Al Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas), a Catholic problem? Yes or no; very easy to answer.

Unless the school teacher was mistreated, IE: assaulted, abused, etc etc the "how" is irrelevant. Unless the goal is to create an emotional response. The article does not show that the school teacher was mistreated in anyway. It claims that there was discrimination going on but with out the "why was he denied entry" we have no clue as to whether discrimination was an actual factor or not. So again, the "why" is very important. Was his name on the no-fly list? If so was it a clerical error? (something that happens quite often with that stupid list) If it was then no discrimination was involved. I could go on citing other examples but you don't care about the "why". You apparently only care about reacting the way that the article wants you to react.

I disagree about the mistreated part. I think it is fundamentally wrong to deny this guy entry without a reason. At the very least, if they had allowed him to speak with someone at the US Embassy, it would be more palatable, however that did not happen.

He was given a reason, the article just doesn't know it. You can tell by the response from the council when they say "No satisfactory reason has been provided for refusing entry". Just because they consider it unsatisfactory doesn't mean that an answer wasn't given.

Yes, it was a part of the article. And this thread is about what is going on as depicted by the article. Talking about what you are talking about is nothing more than an attempt to derail in order to take the focus off of the arguments that I have made which clearly shows just what is wrong with the article and you cannot dispute it.

But hey, if you wish to continue go right ahead. I won't be participating on that subject in this thread.

There's no such derailment going on and you know it. The question and subjects are part of a broad discussion that encompasses the OP, not unlike any thread on this board, so you can stop it now. What's up is that you've been backed into a corner with a simple question and you can't hack. So you've ceded the argument.

The article doesn't state a reason. however CBP can deny entry for any reason to anyone.
he was given a reason that he was denied however without knowing what the reason was to say it had anything to do with trump
is pure conjecture and speculation.

yes you are in fact trying to derail the topic this thread has nothing to do with the IRA.

According to them: Understandably he feels belittled and upset at what appears to be an unjustified act of discrimination

So either,
1) They refused to give a reason
2) The reason had something to do with discrimination

Either way, they what a complete disgrace.

We don't know the reason and as such cannot say whether it actually was discrimination or not.Too many people yell that word now a days and about half the time its false.

My point is either they didn't provide a reason and left it up to interpretation, or they gave a reason for them to believe such.

How do you know it wasn't just a problem with the guys passport and not because Trump and America are evil?
Obviously the President has taken over the boarding decisions at Iceland's airports.

I mean, duhhh...
