Does the 1st Amendment guarantee freedom of speech in a meaningful way?

Nor should there be, as long at the offender's rights are not compromised. Social pressure is and should be our strongest tool against any perceived "immorality", for lack of a better word.

Sadly that means too many people will be castigated for unpopular, even right opinions. Every era has its fads.
