It has become increasingly clear that the PC movement is about removing ones right to free speech under the first amendment. PC is not about improving ones life or the freedoms granted by the constitution its about silencing the free exchange of ideas, its about approved speech and the movement comes from the left the so called leaders of the first amendment.

Who is always attacking who with it?

If you are pro abortion you are exercising your rights to free speech.
If you are anti abortion your an extremist who should silenced.

If you are for global warming you are exercising your rights to free speech.
If you think nature causes temperature change, you are labeled a denier and should be silence. Recent request from the let to prosecute all deniers under RICO act.

If you are for expanding the size of government you are exercising your rights to free speech.
If you are limited government you are a right wing extremist and should be silenced.

If you are a democrat voice you are exercising your rights to free speech.
If you are a republican voice you are dangerous and need to be silenced.

The republicans have never put forth legislation aimed at restricting free speech and yet the democrats continually push for legislation passing control of free speech to the government in the media. They have also made every effort to control free speech here on the Internet.

Why is it democrats will use the 1st amendment to protect burning flags, art with Christ being urinated on, and any other antisocial act they deem worthy but it any view conflicts with their own beliefs they want it controlled and relegated to the shadows.

The funny thing is they are always trying to label the right as hatters of free speech because of books the church desires to ban for children as they seek to exorcise their rights to practice and live with in their faith. I for one am smart enough to recognize their rights but do not fear them they have no bans for me. It is the lefts desire to take away adult rights and my right to free speech that scares me.
 
Both sides of the aisle have their share of people who'd love to silence the opposition. Democrats do not have a monopoly on that.

And both sides are wrong.

The doctrine of political correctness was first cooked up by European communists of the "Frankfurt School" well before WWII. When some of these commies came the U.S. to teach at universities, they popularized it here. To sell it to the dim, ignorant, and gullible, PC has cleverly been candy coated as nothing more than rules of etiquette--a way to keep groups of people who are thought to be disadvantaged in some way from getting their feelings bruised. But it is undemocratic and un-American to the core.

The OP is exactly right. Political correctness is by its nature hostile to the freedom of speech, and there have been successful First Amendment suits against campus speech regulations. As private individuals, we can all fight these would-be gauleiters personally. Go out of your way to wish people a "Merry Christmas" this season, for example. Make it a point to use whatever words the authoritarian pricks who push this garbage want no one to use-- it's one way of telling them to stuff it up their jacks. The irony is that so many of these sorry specimens like to think of themselves as "liberals." They are anything but liberal.

There will always be someone who is going to judge others for something or other. Whats annoying about the politically correct jerks is that they do it while playing the Victim. This is a typical bully technique though. If you look into the psychology of an abuser, they will often play the victim, or threaten suicide when an abuser trys to leave. This is kind of what people do with this PC BS.

Republicans are just as guilty. It's just their version of "PC" that is heartily endorsed by the right.

Anytime the rich are criticized for basically purchasing government, the cries of "class warfare" roll down the hill like a giant snowball.

"PC" (a massively overblown bogeyman) has nothing to do with liberal or conservative. Tt's called "not being an asshole." Does it go too far sometimes? Sure. But it's not the haunting specter that the right makes it out to be.

I don't think anyone has a right to not be offended, but the counter-balance to that is not actively using language and systems that deliberately exclude entire groups in society. Being marginalized feels kind of crummy.

You're missing the point. Any criticism of how our current system caters to the rich and powerful is dismissed as an attack on the rich and powerful. Isn't that the exact same thing as the constant griping about "PC"? The use of language to protect a class?

I've also seen the reverse where you can't talk freely without offending someone's LGBTQI*$!*SGLNGLAQMVND and it turns into identity politics IMMEDIATELY. Social activists *do* use PC to censor and oppress others, while completely avoiding an actual conversation.

Mind you most queer people I've met are decent. I'm just pointing out that both extremes exist. If someone is seeking power over others then they will use whatever means at their disposal to do it.

Of course, extremes exist on both sides of any equation. My general take on the so-called PC crisis that we're experiencing is that pretty much every claim of it is massively overblown by the people who think they are being censored.

In no way does "PC" actually "censor" or "oppress" anyone. If being a jerkoff on Facebook gets you fired, that's not "PC," that's an employer deciding they don't want to associate with a particular brand of rhetoric, which is their right. Nobody has been sent to jail because of "PC."
