What did you have for dinner? -Part dois

We haven't tried that crust yet, but have used the cauliflower in side dishes. So, don't bother?

Don't bother. Too processed and that can't be healthy.

My favorite part of the pizza is a good crust, but we have put ourselves on a low carb, very little refined sugar diet. It works great, but the cravings are pizza, pasta, fresh bread, ice cream...

Shrimp , a baked potato and asparagus.

Pizza!

But wait... it was healthy pizza.
Cauliflower crust and plant based cheese and sausage.

I cheated a bit though. I grated some fresh mozzarella and sprinkled some oregano on top just in case this new science experiment failed to appease our fussy, we were born in Chicago, palates.
It did. The consensus is... next time, we'll buy the real thing.

 I agree if you are going for pizza you have to go for the real deal. My favorite is a Margherita pizza. It is the epitome of healthy. Fresh basil, fresh tomatoes, olive oil, sea salt, garlic, and mozzarella. The tomatoes are sliced and scattered across the dough before finely chopped garlic and basil are sprinkled on, then thinly sliced fresh mozzarella cheese. The pizza is drizzled lightly with olive oil and sea salt just before baking. It is all healthy and delish even down to using unbleached flour in the dough. If you have a decent gas grill you can turn it into a pizza oven with a little tweaking.

My advice, 5 to 6 small, low carb, high protein meals a day to rev up the metabolism. After awhile, the cravings will stop.

Sounds so delicious.

Hubby's last project, we have so many in the works, is an outdoor pizza oven.

I set the priorities. ;)

lunch was sweet and sour chicken with rice and prawn crackers today.

grilled cheese
baked tater tots and fries with ketchup.

Yum, double carbs. ***drools***

i'm trying to increase my protein, but with the insane work schedule lately, i just wanted the tater tots. kiddo is eating the other half as we speak. i do have trouble cutting carbs, especially since the shift to vegetarianism.

Wolfgang Puck's Tomato Basil Bisque with grilled cheese sandwiches with onion slice on Dave's GoodSeed bread.

Nuts. Yeah, eat nuts. A few with breakfast, a few with lunch, a few for a snack. All kinds. Little pockets of protein and other goodies. Raw almonds in their pale green shells are showing up in produce markets now. 4 or 5 kills the desire for carbs.

Made stewed tuna tail with pineapple, anjou chillies, onions and lemon zest, served on half slices of wholewheat toast with three grilled jumbo shrimp for each, garlic laced spinach, potato and feta filled patsies. Bottles of dark brown Jamaican ginger ale. Red table grapes for dessert. The ginger ale has everyone burping. Made with real ginger.
Spicy.

Vegetarian cheese steak on Hawaiian rolls. My wife made them, and they were the best dinner of the week.

Store bought rotisserie chicken and french fries.

Vegetable soup with broccoli and mushrooms, black eyed peas, bits of spicy venison sausage. Steamed cauliflower with a peppery bechamel sauce. Green salad with lots of sliced onions and cucumbers, grape tomatoes, dressed with fresh squeezed lemon juice, olive oil and herbs. Fresh baked bran muffins with raisins, and Irish butter. Grilled large fresh trout fillets from the Finger Lakes caught, cleaned and flown here this morning on crushed ice, brushed with walnut oil and dusted with fresh sage. Lemonade. Navel oranges and fresh berries for dessert.

I also picked up fresh pike from the Finger Lakes, made them into steamed fishballs with minced carrots, garlic and onion, bread crumbs. Will serve cold with fresh grated horseradish tomorrow night as the dinner's main dish.

put the vegetarian cheese steak leftovers on bread and made a grilled Philly cheese steak sandwich. wife had the real thing, and i split the vegetarian part with the kiddo. it was her idea, and it turned out pretty well.

Jack fruit and mushroom wraps, topped with salsa and fresh herbs from the garden.

Manhattan Clam Chowder (as opposed to New England Clam Chowda)

JGG Steam & Serve Broccoli and cheese.

Homemade Bolognese sauce over whole wheat linguini, broke open an old bottle of Chianti wine to go with it.

Meditarrenean-style chicken drumsticks and Hot Italian sausages braised in olive oil, lots of garlic, plum tomatoes and black olives.
I'm out of feta (or I would've crumbled some with it). I would've added prunes too, but decided at the last minute not to.
Hubby is on strict Atkins induction mode.

I had a couple of buttered brown bread with it, and red wine. Didn't spike my blood sugar (6.3).

I made pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms because I was able to find a 5 lb bag of bread flour.

I had planned to grill chicken halves but its just too hot to be playing with a grill.

Smoked turkey breast sandwiches on Artisan rolls with mayo and onion.
