What did you have for dinner? -Part dois

Broiled Bratwurst, fresh made sauerkraut (both made by a local German style deli/butcher, cooked at home, the kraut just warmed), plain buttered mashed potatoes (w/ salt and pepper), lots of deli mustard, pickled sweet peppers, pale dry ginger ale, fresh apple pie a la mode (vanilla ice cream) with coffee. Tums.

Dog got a marrow bone from the butcher. Dog is sleeping with the bone under his chin, in case a burglar breaks in. Cat had some catnip. She's exhausted, sleeping in the dog's bed, with the dog. On the dog.

So this should get Hawkeye's attention:

Nurnberger sausage with fried potatoes and cole slaw. I have a jar of Bavarian mustard, and I always like a sliced up apple with dinners like these

There's a great German butcher not that far away....I take the drive once in a while.

Seem to be on same wave length tonight as OldFatGuy. Cheers!

cauliflower crust pizza
breadsticks with cheese

Did you make it yourself?

we did once, but not tonight. this crust was professionally made, and it was pretty much indistinguishable from real crust. the one we made this past year was good, but a bit soggy. i notice that theirs has almond flour as an ingredient. that's something that we didn't put into ours. i want to give the home made version another try.

Almond flour gives it a great texture and a toasty flavor.

Costco Australian leg of lamb roasted with secret spices, with a smear of a cheese that is half way between brie and Camembert, with blue cheese dressing, thin red onion, and a combo of iceberg lettuce and avocado doused in Murray River salt and lemon and pepper and EVO.......served on a Hoagie with a side of Carolina Broc Slaw (See Food Tips PLEASE!.)

Good food and good sex and good ideas.......these things never get old.

1/4 lb of thinly sliced beef tenderloin, 1/4 lb chicken thigh meat trimmed of all fat and cut into 1/4 inch cube like shapes, 4 large cremini mushrooms sliced, 1/4 lb snow peas, 1/4 lb mung bean sprouts, 2 julienned serrano peppers, 2 crushed garlic cloves, a thinly sliced small yellow onion, 1/2 lb shredded bok choy, 1 dozen medium shrimp, 3 tbs of fresh chopped ginger, 2 scrambled eggs, 4 crushed cardamon pods, all stir fried in the old wok with 3 cooked cups of brown rice and peanut oil.

Made a simple bechamel sauce made from 4tbs of tahini (sesame butter), 1 1/2 cups of milk, 1/4 cup of sour cream, 3 tbsp of all purpose flour, chopped mint leaves, served separately for a topping of each bowl by the diner's choice. Fed 4 adults who struggled to get away from the table after stuffing our faces. (plenty left over) 2 pots of minted black tea. Brandied orange sauce covered lady fingers with walnuts for dessert, with glasses of pomegranate, lemon juices and bourbon, shaked but not stirred over ice, spritzed with seltzer from the soda stream.

barley and lentils
mac and cheese
1/2 vegetarian ham sandwich

Huevos rancheros for dinner. Simple but good. Might have it again for breakfast since we have a lot of beans left over.

Rump Roast, sliced thin, with brown onion gravy, mash potatoes, whipped with sour cream and butter, haricots verts and French Silk for dessert.

Left overs from last night, spruced up with some fresh broccoli and soy sauce. NDali Estate Vanilla ice cream with Fox's Ubet chocolate syrup and chocolate egg creams for dessert. (I think I'm on the cusp of a sugar coma.:))

Leftover cold leg of lamb on Costco Pita (really good), provolone, tzatziki, Carolina Style broccoli slaw.

That's sad, "it wasn't too bad."

What am I missing here? For those who go vegetarian, why isn't the food served a culinary adventure of stimulating meals?

Quantum Leap Vegetarian Restaurant | Official Website | Order Online Direct

The original Quantum Leap Restaurant in Queens, opened by Sri Chimnoy in 1972, closed 2 years ago because the underlying property, a tax payer, single level of stores, was sold for development of an apartment building and the lease had expired. The menu, over the years had grown from a few brown dishes to much of what you see on the site of the Manhattan location. A new Quantum Leap in Queens is being developed by the Sri Chimnoy Institute, twice the size of the prior. There were often long lines to enter the original at dinner time. Among the investors for both restaurants were guitarists John McLaughlin and Carlos Santana, both followers of Sri Chimnoy.

Chimnoy died at 76 from a heart attack, nevertheless:

Spectacular guitar playing. I used to play a 'Carlos Classic', with nylon strings and the sound from it rivaled a 12 string Guild.

I was at the nearby mall (I live next to one) about to head home for dinner when I saw the sign on a NY style pizza place that was having their anniversary- unlimited pizza for $6. Guess what I did? Yup. ;)

LOL the store manager asked me the same thing. I sort of lost count since I can put away huge amounts of food without gaining weight.

My go to daily guitar is a more than 35 yr old Guild Maple NJ 212. I also own a number of nylon and catgut strung classic guitars of extreme high quality, much better than the Guild. There is no way either can rival the other for sounds. Nylon and steel strings produce notably different sound sets. No one listening to both would confuse the two. I'm not doubting your perceptions, memories and belief in the quality of your instrument. There are moments when I think I am the world's best guitarist. :lamo @ me

I've also told myself I am god's gift to women. Both my wives found that hilarious.

I wish I was a tenth of good on guitar as either one of those master guitarists. I've been playing guitar almost 55 years, and I'll never be as good as either, not even close. Your choice of "spectacular" couldn't be more appropriate.

Some of us are that lucky. My Dad ate like a horse and never gained a pound. Of course he was also very active.

We'll have Thai fried rice tonight, along with cucumbers in a light lime dressing and pickled jalapenos on the side

I'll be home alone for dinner tonight. The wife is going out with her sister and some of the grandkids to plan a spring clothes shopping day next month. I don't want to hear it. The winter clothes shopping spree wiped out my primary credit card for two months. I had been certain when my wife left for that fateful day, it was still in my wallet.

So I just picked up some smoked sturgeon, and a container of fresh cream for shirred eggs, and a fresh double dutch chocolate donut with a raspberry glaze for desert. I've got yeasty soft rye and acorn flour rolls in the oven, they go well with Irish butter. I'll start with a pear and a blood orange, make a pot of coffee and touch it up with some single cask bourbon.
