Does it ever get easier? I know a guy who 9 years ago lost 120lb because the death of his dad scared him, he gaves himself one cheat day a month were he can eat whatever he wants no matter how much he wants......but he says it is never easy.
EDIT: He started once a week, then once every two weeks, and settled on once a month though these days only 2-3 times a year will he eat like he used to,,generally he eats somewhat well and feel good about himself for days.
We talk You see.
maintaining weight loss has been the most difficult of my lifestyle changes, because it's never complete. it's every day. quitting smoking was relatively easy once i found the right method. i put out the last cigarette, and i was instantly a nonsmoker.
as for "does it ever get any easier," i suppose that the answer is yes. once you do something for thirty days, and then sixty, and then a year, and then five years, and then ten years etc., it becomes the way things are. for me, it's calories in vs calories burned. i had McDonalds today, but i also had lean cuisine, and i'm currently at 21,763 steps. that's abnormally high for me, but i'm not regretting the double cheeseburger. tomorrow, i'll weigh in, and i'll go from there for the next week. i would also recommend staying on top of blood pressure and cholesterol. you can exercise your ass off and still clog up your arteries. it varies from person to person, though maintaining a healthy weight is a pretty big factor, IMO. i was pre-diabetic at 29 or 30. after a little more than a decade of paying attention to my weight, my blood pressure and blood sugar are pretty good.
cheat days? i generally do cheat meals, and i exercise more on those days. for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and my birthday, i generally have a pretty good pig out meal, but i don't eat everything i want all day long. i did do that once, and it didn't agree with me. also, when i throw out my back, i sometimes have a Red Lobster Admiral's feast. that's a funny story, lol.
