What did you have for dinner? -Part dois

1/2 steak pie
Steamed veggies
Mashed potatoes
Camden ale

Dinner yesterday was an airplane pasta bake, a roll, and this barley salad concoction. It was actually pretty amazing. This was the first airplane meal I've had since 1981 or so. Everything since then has been peanuts or pretzels.

Also, we made it to London!

LOL you enjoyed airline food probably because its a novelty. :D

Partially, yeah. However, when trying the pasta, we both looked at each other and commented that this was strangely awesome for a plane meal. It was restaurant good, and the main course still comes in one of those foil covered TV dinner trays. For me, it was a little like time traveling, although I don't remember a plane meal being that good.

Homemade pulled pork tacos (from picnic) mexied up with cheddar corn salsa and avocado.

Corporate corn tortillas stacked two, fried in corn oil in a skillet.

This is going to sound weird that I remember this so fondly, but once back in the mid 80s I was flying from Chicago to Oakland late night and had the most awesome meal. I don't remember now what it was, but I do remember being absolutely blown away by it.

Doesn't sound weird at all. I'll probably always remember the unexpectedly awesome pasta on that very long flight. We're flying home on the same airline, so there's a chance for a repeat, too.

Wife and I split fish and chips and mac and cheese at a London pub. Made some new friends and hung out for a few hours talking. Good times.

Chipotle sofritas burrito, chips and guac, lemonade ( that cool, refreshing drink)

Split a 28 day steak (medium, based on another thread.)
1/2 order pub fries
Carmelized onions
Spoonful of toffee pudding and ice cream
Pint of draft beer

Grad party for the nephew, Italian sausage, salad, and chicken. There was a whole lot more, but I behaved myself.

(ok, ok, I had a blueberry cupcake, and.....a strawberry one, and I might have had two of each, but they were small.)

I do believe being on a plane makes one feel high because of the higher oxygen count on the AC, so it plays a part in making people feel great (as well as the highs of traveling) while eating an otherwise plain aircraft meal.

Steak pie
Steamed veggies
A few chips

Just arrived in Norfolk county this evening.

Chorizo and canned "refried"" beans burritos with mexi blend cheese a dairygold sour cream inside smothered with pilfered Taco Bell sauce packs.

Edit: Replace "Pilfered" with "Last time eldest was home we got TB take-out out and she grabbed like 4 handfuls "JUST IN CASE"...which I did not know till we got home". Honest.

I like almost anything Mexican, but I cannot abide chorizo. The consistency is disagreeable to me.

My wife refuses to eat it because it contains salivary glands and lymph nodes.

I say that is good eatin right there.

So you dont like sausage?

This evening I had:

turkey sandwich (deli sliced with a little mayo on whole wheat bread- we ran out of mustard, ugh)
simple romaine lettuce and tomato salad (with homemade balsamic and olive oil vinaigrette)
2 bananas

Love sausage. Many many kinds of sausage. Hate chorizo.

Wife loves chorizo.

Tonight was haddock and chips at a place in Sheringham. Very nice town by the sea.

Fish and chips is a good idea. I think I'll do it on Sunday with mushy pees. Sorrily the best place for it in our area is not waterfront.
But we did have chorizo as tapas the other day looking across the bay. Your wife is right. They are good.

I tried mushy peas the other night, and liked them. Tonight was regular peas, which were also good.

Chicken Tettrazini. Frozen, but still tasty. Served over egg noodles. With sourdough garlic bread.

Today we had gazpacho with chopped onion, garlic, parsley, Celery and small chunks of beefsteak tomatoes. Desert was fresh fruit salad of apricots, peaches, nectarines and two sorts of apple with lemon juice and very little sugar.

I love green peas with salt, pepper and butter. Adding some finely chopped fresh mint can be nice, but I usually like t simple.

Airplane food :

Pasta
Roll
Turkey sandwich

One more connecting flight to go.

Brauts, cooked up in a small fry pan to control the heat with water added to brown the outside with pico de gallo, dill pickle spears, relish, celery salt and mustard on toasted buns. A variation on a Chicago dog.
