What did you have for dinner? -Part dois

I was cooking for myself tonight, so I baked some fish filets and had them with tartar sauce and rice. We aren't a big seafood house. Maybe I'll be able to convert the kiddos. They haven't had much fish yet. It would be fun to take them to Red Lobster. That used to be a huge treat when I was a kid.

Yeah, my kids loved Mrs Paul’s fish sticks. Doesn’t get much easier than that, especially if your kids are fussy eaters.

We've tried fish sticks with moderate success.

Still cooking and baking and nibblin' away and getting into the spirit of the holidays. Rugalach (apricot), pecan tassies, mandelbrot, brisket, my mom's fudge was today's mission. Kosher dog with potato salad and fudge scrapings.

We had various vegetables in need of attention, so we made a simple veggie soup with some quinoa for protein.
For breakfast we'll have mushroom omelets. I find that using garbanzo bean liquid from the can fluffs omelets beautifully.

Good to know 😀

Sounds good. I’ve probably eaten most of what you posted but I wouldn’t be certain I know all the names.

Several of our neighbors and a number of my good friends when I was growing up were Jewish. Great food.

In fact I dated a rabbi’s daughter until he put an end to that on the third date. He asked me what my intentions were. Hell, I was 17. No way I was telling him my intentions. 😜

He then asked me if I had any thoughts about converting to Judaism. Respectfully I told him that my plans were to convert to no religion.

Sharon and I remained friends and my Jewish friends gave me shit and patted me on the back and congratulated me for making it that far.

I continued to eat great Jewish food but just not a Sharon’s house after that.

My father-in-law's lady friend is named Sharon. She was a rabbi's daughter and this shiksa's partner in crime and surrogate mom.

If she is anything like the Sharon I knew she is a fine lady, sweet and fun.

Never met a mushroom I didn't like.

Never met a mushroom I didnt think tasted like dirt 😀

Have friends who like some really cool-looking mushrooms that grow here...lobster mushrooms are one type. Some really fancy, cool-looking 'shrooms. So we trail ride up into the forests and they gather these mushrooms while I hold horses, tool around on the trail, etc.

We get back to camp and they fry 'em up over the campfire with butter and garlic....and they cannot contain themselves. I tried them. They taste like dirt with butter and garlic. I turn to alcohol. ;) And steak.

Got air fryer?
Not yet. I've suggested it a few times. However, I can't bring one home as a surprise. My wife would have to research all of them and then pick the one with the best reviews first.

My step daughter has been home visiting for a few days - she left on Monday. Made her one of her favorites - ravioli lasagna, which if you've never had it is exactly what it sounds like, lasagna made with ravioli instead of flat sheets of pasta. I'm having the leftovers in about 5 minutes.
