Be well and binge good movies on Netflix. I'd recommend good movies and books but we probably don't share the same tastes.
Tonight was egg drop soup, fried won tons, an egg roll from my favorite Chinese take-out. My fortune: Take charge of your destiny.

I like Chinese food. But, my fortune is always something smirky like, "Your mama was jiving you" or "That wasn't chicken" or "Rambo was a thespian".

No one ever said Mama has to love you best. Mine never claimed Stallone was a thespian, either.

I doubt there is a film critic in New York or LA who believes Stallone is a thespian.

Did you see him in Copland? I saw him off off Broadway in a one man reading of excerpts from Brecht's Man Equals Man, about 3 years after Rocky. Knocked my socks off. Like watching a young Brando on stage. Promise not fulfilled.

We are having wild rice and mushroom soup. We have some gluten free tortillas laying around. They are ok for dipping when toasted in some olive oil.

Roast Leg of Lamb from Australasia via Costco with lots of stuff, roasted root veg, smashed yam with B sugar and butter, commercial baguette with a really good butter.

    open face spicy meatball sub.

Today I came across an article that said George Washington's favorite breakfast was hoecakes. Never heard of a hoecake before so of course I had to find out what it was. Turns out it is a basic corncake that those who worked in the fields made on their hoes using it as a griddle over a fire.

Well that led me to look for recipes that were used early in our American history. Came across this cite

    1800-1849 - Recipes & Cookbooks - The Henry Ford

It was very interesting reading through the recipes posted. They certainly used herbs and spices.

An eggplant, apricot and ricotta stew, with sweet onion, hot red peppers and sun dried tomatoes, seasoned with turmeric and cinnamon, casserole. Baked at 350 degrees for an hour and half. Served with buttered pan fried cornbread, red tea with lemon. Lemon ices with frozen red grapes on top for dessert.
