What did you have for dinner? -Part dois

That sounds really good now but I don't want to drive 30 minutes each way for takeout.
Rules of thumb I've learned from traveling:
When in Cambodia eat Thai.
When in Burma eat Indian.
When in France eat French.
When in Laos eat French.
When in England eat any other ****ing thing.

my wife is no longer on her vegan diet
can i get an amen!
she just returned from a cruise in alaska and all of that fresh salmon
so she told me that i was taking her to go get a burger
only it was on me to decide where to eat

bleu barn was my choice. it is take out only, causing us to have to eat outside. it is only in the low 90s here. but it appears she got acclimated to the low 60's of alaska and insisted i choose another destination
guy fieri liked bang bang burgers so that was my second choice
the bleu burger is topped with an over-easy egg and a bunch of conventional fixin's, but the seoul 2 offers sliced pickles, mixed greens, kim chi with sesame oil, grilled smoked pork belly and bulgogi sauce
it was a toss up to me but my wife liked the sweet potato fries and special sauce at bang bang, so it would appear i ultimately came in first with my requiste second choice ... mostly because we were in air conditioning rather than an outdoor picnic table in 92 degree weather (that's F for you canadians)

That looks amazing.

The New York Times absolutely trashed Guy's Times Square restaurant when it opened.

It's considered one of the harshest restaurant reviews in history.

A sampling of the review:

"How did nachos, one of the hardest dishes in the American canon to mess up, turn out so deeply unlovable? Why augment tortilla chips with fried lasagna noodles that taste like nothing except oil? Why not bury those chips under a properly hot and filling layer of melted cheese and jalapeños instead of dribbling them with thin needles of pepperoni and cold gray clots of ground turkey?"

It was brutal.

suspect fieri is much better at eating than cooking

when writing business loans, i was impressed (stunned?) at the number of folks who knew they would succeed in the restaurant business and applied for financing only because they liked good food ... but significantly, knew nothing about the restaurant industry

unfortunately for them, and fieri, appreciating good food is not enough; as appears confired by his 0.2 star rating from your cite

Fish sandwich on a hoagie roll with tartar sauce and ribbon fries on the side. It was a local place, and it was very good. Luckily, I had enough calories saved up to cover it. I had some of the fries with ketchup and some with tartar sauce in honor of one of the food threads in this subforum.

AMEN! :p

Since I'll most likely exceed my maximum caloric intake by at least 3000 calories tomorrow, tonight I had a bowl of Earth Grains cereal with some blueberries and blackberries tossed in, and a peach, and an apple.

Last time I visited the British on was on a hospice seminar. At the hospice itself we were treated to some delicious fair like zabaglione. The rest of the time we were on our own so we tried Italian. It was the blandest spaghetti you can imagine. Who is afraid to use spices?
I guess that has all changed now.

We are vegetarian. I never understood vegan, I have to draw the line somewhere.

Slices of boneless ribeye steak and boneless/skinless chicken breast with mushroom medley, onions and broccli crowns sauteed in light olive oil and served over white rice.

Sorry @LouC but the potato salad turned into a mediterranian pasta salad. We had pasta left from last night, I added olives, capers, sun dried tomatoes and feta, cubed cukes, lemon juice/zest, salt and pepper.
We ate it with black bean burgers.

I had a burger and fries after sitting outside all day. After that, we went and saw a good fireworks display. I think that we all got enough sun and heat for the day.

Amen! I am soooooooo happy for you!
Nothing like a great burger!
I had an excellent burger on the 4th. We celebrated at my brother and sil home. What a spread of food! Burgers, hotdogs, brats and chicken were the choices of protein. Several types of salads, fruits, veggies, dips, baked beans and mac and cheese. I finished it off with a delicious brownie and a scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. And the good news is we came home with a bunch food for today.
