What did you have for dinner? -Part dois

Last night I was soooo dirty. I had chicken wings. Probably 15 of them. Covered in sauce. And french fries. Ohhhhh french fries.

Tonight, I am having 6oz of grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli and raw carrots.

Doctor's orders I start Nutrisytem tomorrow. Must be 200 lbs before I can get a new hip. I'm 235 lbs. I want to be about 165, I used to be the skinniest person on the planet. Quitting smoking didn't help with any of this.

I was 270 lbs when i started losing. I sure hope this works. I haven't been able to walk really for a couple of years. I use a cane.

Regis Philben and John Kerry both just had this surgery recently.

Prince needed both hips replaced. He got the surgery after initially refusing because of his religion. I prayed for him.;) Both hips! Poor guy.:(

glazed ham, cooked for sandwiches this week, and to make fried rice. will use the bone for pintos tomorrow
grilled and blackened rib eyes for my bro-in-law and me
southwestern style grilled salmon for my wife and mother-in-law (they're not beef eaters)
portabello mushrooms sauted in olive oil
smashed taters, peas, and grilled garlic bread
begun with an italian salad
too lazy to prep a dessert

my birtday lunch was, seared scallops, beef stroganoff, creme brullee , then later a Croatian Walnut Torta, clic on picspadeswood 219.jpg

authentic Russian Beef Stroganoff.

Slice good quality Mushrooms

Slice onions to same size

Slice fillet steak to same size

1 pot of sour cream.

Sweat mushrooms till dry, place in bowl, clean pan.

Sweat onions, do not color and leave a bit of bite in them, place in bowl, clean pan.

Coat meat with seasoned flour, salt and lots of ground pepper.

Heat pan a mixture of sunflour oil and butter very hot, fry beef to taste, add onions and mushrooms mix well then add soured cream, within a minute our so it should have the consistancy of loose scrambled eggs.

Serve with home made fries, the texture of the rich soft creamy meat and the stiff crisp fries will make you want to swallow:)

Last night:
Leftovers,
It was penne pasta with chopped, grilled chicken in alfredo sauce with a salad.

Tonight:
Steak was on sale, so if it thaws in the fridge by tonight, that with more salad and green beans. If it does not thaw, than it will be grilled smoked sausage with the same sides.

You are a good man Bubbers:)

thanks, BLZ
as trite as it may sound, the truth is i really do get back much more than i give by serving at the soup kitchen
besides the gratification of seeing those who are cold and hungry enjoy a good meal in a warm place, the new friendships with an amazing array of volunteers is an unanticipated result
my friend, a conservative orthodox jew and me, a liberal unorthodox agnostic, overseeing a soup kitchen at a Christian church - go figure

and forumites, please don't hesitate to offer any great soup recipes we could use

Serves 8, so adjust accordingly....

3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 1/2 pork butt, cut in 1-inch cubes
1 1/2 cups diced onion
1 tablespoon fresh minced garlic
6 cups chicken broth
1/2 pound red potatoes, cut in 1/2 cubes
1/2 pound white potatoes, cut in 1/2 cubes, (I use small baby potatoes and cut in half
salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
3 cups roasted, peeled, chopped green chile or to taste (source below)
3 tablespoons diced red bell pepper
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro, to taste

Use veg oil and brown meat, set aside, in same oil,add onion, and cook till golden, add garlic, cook 1 min more, add broth, potatoes, and pork, bring to a boil

Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hr, then add green chili, red pepper, cook 20 mins more.....

I like it hot, so I use more hot (barker's extra hot) chilies than mild (6-4's), I'd reccommend for your soup kitchen, use the milds..... Or if you want a little heat, the big jims....

If I am making it for others who may not appreciate the heat, I usually just use the big jims.... which are medium heat.

Also, I use other spices such as well, but have been sworn to secrecy by the person who gave me this recipe...... But it includes, chipotle, and things of the like..... The basic recipe I posted up is very very good.

now when I say heat, I'm talking actual spicey heat, not what some say is heat in resturaunts for the most part.... barker's for example are petty close to a habenero..... Big jims, somewhere around a poblamo....

6-4's a somewhere between a poblamo and a green bell pepper.

Yeah, I can have corn. Corn and lima beans, when consumed together, have almost everything the body needs to sustain itself.

I still want a sweet potato though.

Last night I had a cheeseburger on a cracked wheat bun, garbanzo bean salad, and a "milkshake" made with frozen yogurt and chocolate almond milk.

Oh it is soooo good. I won't drink soy milk because it's just nasty and I grew up drinking whole milk on the farm...still warm from the cow's body heat. Almond milk is thick enough to satisfy that need for it to be filling and the taste is delicious. You can get it at any grocery store, usually by the soy milk. It comes in chocolate and vanilla and I like both equally.
